TTD-120-420
Cedar Fair CEO, Matt Ouimet, was recently quoted saying that there would be changes coming to the fountains of the former Paramount parks. He said they would start at Canada's Wonderland. Well, here are the changes: All pictures are from cwmania.com (http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=56398#p56398) The bottom has been painted black, and new fountains have been put in place. This will most likely be coming to Kings Island in the coming years. Thoughts?
rcwizard13
It might just be because I'm not used to seeing it, but I think the black looks absolutely terrible. Other than that, I can't say anything without seeing what the new fountains do.

DontWantToWait42mar0
I prefer our fountains stay the way they are currently, rather then morph into whatever is going on in the pictures.
CoasterGeek101
What's wrong with the fountains now?
Creed Bratton
I think it will be great once the fountains are upgraded. I hope that they don't paint the bottom black. I hope that they keep the original "relaxing" feel to them, but I also hope that they put on a good show too.
The Interpreter
What's wrong with the fountains now?. Cedar Fair feels they have unused potential. Plus the company wants to put its own, unique stamp on them.
DBInternational
Oh let's turn it into a new wavepool!
DontWantToWait42mar0
I think they might only be decent after the sun goes down and colored lights are added in for effect. During the daytime however, it appears as an eye sore for me.

I would consider it a waste of money if they change them.
dr_humor
I actually like the black much better. Much less tacky and 70'ish, and gives it a nice feel. I say go with the black.
Jr for Birdy
If they want to mess with the fountain, turn it into ice this winter so my kids can skate on it like I did!

TTD-120-420
I agree with Kevin. I like the black.
dr_humor
the statement you just made should be considered blasphemy. I can deal with that. I dig it, what can I say? I love the fountains, but if anything could change, it's the color. It's like the gym teacher you had in the 80's finally getting some khakis and trading in his teal corduroys. Are they hip in their own right? Sure...but change can be a good thing. Embrace it.
The Interpreter
I like quarters. Mr. Kinzel had a thing for nickels. Some are into pair a dimes.

TheBEASTunchained
I haven't really came to a conclusion about whether I like the new fountain changes at Canadas Wonderland or not but that sure made a big difference!
TheCrypt
I would have to see them in person. It would be somewhat unjust to judge the appearance of an alteration going by a scarce few pictures alone.
dare-to-fly
I have always loved the royal fountains exactly the way they are. I'm not a fan of the idea of changing them. If they insist on it, at least leave them the relaxing blue that they are!!
shark6495
the blue is relaxing but something about the black makes the pool look deeper. Also, probably much easier to keep clean in the long run. The blue showed dirt, where I think the black will hide it a bit more. Plus, its not like they are ripping the fountains out.
dare-to-fly
The darker color makes it feel less spectacular to me...or maybe dirtier is the right word. I don't like Kings Dominion's fountains nearly as well because they're darker in color. That and I think ours are prettier in general. calakapepe
I like the dark color. It makes it look sleek IMO
Tanna
I wonder what the addition of LED lights do to the black background of the fountains? I'll want to see that before I decide.
TTD-120-420
Why don't the pictures show up anymore?
XjoshhyX
I think it would be a mistake to do this to the fountains. I would really enjoy that staying the same, as has most of Int'l Street. Its an iconic walk that shouldn't be changed imho.
The Interpreter
But it has changed dramatically since 1972. At least the parts around the fountain have.
XjoshhyX
I mean the main style of the street. It has always had the same vibe to it. I'm thinking of it from my perspective I think. Since I was a kid its always been the way I see it now, being 24 now I love looking at the area and remembering some of the good times with family and friends over the years. The fountain itself is just Iconic to me though, I see no reason to take away something that recognizable to almost anyone who has visited. dr_humor
There are no plans to take it away. Just
XjoshhyX
I guess I worded that badly, I didn't mean take away as in get rid of it, but rather change it. Not a huge fan of the black underneath, but maybe it looks better in person. Either way, as far as the fountain goes, I don't like change in that area haha.
