Carowinds will be investing $50 million in the next three years!

Recommended Posts

I don't mind Diamondback's seating arrangement (in fact, when interviewed about the ride for my high school newspaper, I stated that I was most excited about the "wing seats"), but I would love it if they cars were modified into a 4-seater arrangement because this arrangement is what B&M first used back in the '90s.The new seating arrangement might take some getting used to, but I think I would love it if it happened! :D

I am quite sure it would be possible. At what expense, or train length, I know not.

I see Diamondback's seating configuration as a gimmick. A most unfortunate gimmick.

I am elated it is not being duplicated at Carowinds.

I agree with marth555, that the staggered seating provides a better view. It also offers more space to outstretch one's arms. A fair trade-off for a bit of "rattle" that's still magnitudes below most other Kings Island roller coasters.

And Behemoth has the staggered ones as well. Leviathan does not.

Another perk to the four-across is that, if desired, it is possible to have more than eight cars. Raging Bull (which on an unrelated note is far and away my favorite B&M Hyper that I've ridden) has nine rows. Yeah, this is probably possible with the staggered seats too. But each additional four seats increases train length twice as much as with the four-across. And that extra car equates to a theoretical 12.5% increase in capacity.

I say theoretical of course because it isn't quite a straight comparison. That is also one more row to check, which means that with the same number of seat checkers, dispatch time will increase accordingly.

And what does the next to last line here say?

Blame them, too.

That isn't the only place RCDB makes that mistake. See also:

No such mistake on the page for Shambhala, but they also don't mention the trains at all for that coaster. So it also goes to show that RCDB isn't accurate. And after visiting Camden Park, there are other reasons I don't find them accurate, too.

That also tells you/me/us what an impression Intimidator made on me.

Not much.

I'd agree with this. I found Intimidator completely forgettable and couldn't begin to correctly describe the number of hills and turns and their proper order if I tried.

That being said, I've never found Diamondback or Intimidator to be excessively rattly, apart from the exit from Diamondback's turnaround. I haven't ridden any other B&M hypers with staggered seats. But that's me.

Having ridden all three Cedar Fair B&M hyper roller coasters, I'd personally rank Intimidator as the number one. I found it much more thrilling and exciting than Behemoth or Diamondback.

Yet Wikipedia editors still treat them as the Holy Bible of roller coasters and believe that they can do no wrong. To wit, I present the Wikipedia page for Diamondback, which copies RCDB's error. When I tried to fix it, another editor reverted me because "that's what RCDB says". Wonder why I'm no longer active there?

Intimidator has B&M's standard four across seating. Eight rows.

Diamondback, the 16 rows of two...

EDIT: Wrong, Terp.

Sorry I have to cherish this moment.....

So why does obe type of train have the rattle but the other doesnt? Ridden Carowinds' Afterburn lately? The trains are making lots of rattles now and Afterburn does seem rougher than it used to.
