homestar92
While it is already an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark, I think that the Kings Island Racer should be nominated to become a National Historic Landmark. It certainly has been important, and its impact on the industry industry is immeasurable.
shark6495
Great article, In all seriousness, the article mentions Big Bad Wolf as the first suspended, I thought The Bat was? Secondly, I have not really noticed but KI seems to be on the forefront of roller coaster innovation. Racer, Beast, Bat, King Cobra, SOB, Banshee (any other record breakers/first of their kind/important?)

Ride On_17
I couldn't help but laugh at the quote underneath the picture. "A good roller coaster is better than sex." Seeing as it was the very first thing I read when I opened that link, I started to question what exactly I was going to be reading.
PKIVortex
The Big Bad Wolf was the first successful Suspended Coaster.

The Interpreter
"A perennial problem, much to the chagrin of many." Terp, choosing his words carefully (also where x is a number more than 0, x + 12,000 does not equal 12,000). Terp, citin' random stuff, up and down.

UnrealNightmare
I doubt it's going to be only B&M coasters from here on out. We can rule out Intamin but we can't rule out some of the other great coaster company's out there. Like GCI who just installed a coaster at California's Great America.
NoChickens
As I remember, Vortex was also a record breaker when debuted. And after checking, Wikipedia agrees (notice I did not say confirms). " Vortex debuted as the tallest, full-circuit roller coaster with the highest drop in the world. It was also the first to feature six inversions." Edit: I only remembered the inversions record.
shark6495
The Big Bad Wolf was the first successful Suspended Coaster. Well what constitutes a successful coaster? Bat opened for 3 years, gave a bunch of rides. If you can count SOB then Bat should be counted as well. Maybe we should be lucky to have such a great park sitting in our backyards... The Interpreter
Our backyards? Some here have: * Castles and Coasters * Carowinds * Cedar Point * Kentucky Kingdom * Camden Park * Six Flags America * Holiday World Just to name a few. Heck, some of us don't have back yards!
UnrealNightmare
I don't have any parks in my backyard. Right now I just have dead grass and some firewood.

The Interpreter
Not to mention Son of Beast was the tallest, fastest and only looping wooden roller coaster on the planet. Successful? Uh, no.
Tr0y
It has been on the lift before, only way to go was up. So dunno if it completed the course back then, I wasn't there to watch it I'll have to ask. Here's a question for Don, how is it determined how much the park receives for capital investments for a coaster building year? Does Cedar Fair drawl up how much the park is bringing in, and depending on how much the parks revenue is the park is awarded a set amount of money to spend for capital that year, including the cost of the coaster?
