rhyano Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 since there is a rumor about a 2015 new coaster what do you guys think it is and what do you want KD to get Quote
rcwizard13 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I haven't heard anything for Kings Dominion. The big bucks for Cedar Fair in 2015 are going to Carowinds. If KD gets something, I'd expect it to be relatively small. Quote
Gplez90 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Id love to see a RMC coaster pop up at not just Kings Dominion, but any Cedar Fair park. Ive been dying to see Mean Streak at Cedar Point get a make over like Texas Giant. As for Kings Dominion, I think a RMC coaster would do very well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
KI FANATIC 37 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I've heard about this Carowinds rumors, but I haven't head a lot about them. What coaster is it rumored to get? Quote
Gplez90 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Correct me if im wrong, but it was revealed last fall that Carowinds is spending about $30 million on a B&M giga coaster. Cedar Fair also filed a trademark under the name "Centurion" some time ago. The name Centurion (imo) indicates that the name will be given to a ride of significant size and/or speed. EDIT: The name "Centurion" was given to very highly ranked professional officers of the ancient Roman Army. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's unlikely, as CF has contracted GCI for all of their recent wooden coasters. Then again, there was a time when every new coaster installation at CP was an Intamin... Well... 1 Quote
Tr0y Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 A B&M dive coaster would make perfect sense, no other Cedar Fair park has one. I also wouldn't mind seeing Grizzly or hurler getting the iron horse reconfiguration from RMC.. OR ultimately replace one of the two with a GCI. Quote
silver2005 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 A dive coaster would be nice...except for the fact there's one right down the road at Busch Gardens. I've heard a B&M inverted coaster rumored as well, and unless B&M radically starts trying new design ideas or they make a 200 footer to pass Alpengeist's height, then that's probably out of the question, too. I feel they should get themselves something to differentiate themselves from Busch Gardens, if possible (they could still get one of those 2 anyways). A B&M flyer would be something that would stand out in the area. I really would rather see a family coaster at KD next since their last 2 coasters were thrill oriented (Dominator and I305). Despite having 4 bigger wooden coasters, a GCI would be a nice addition. 1 Quote
TombRaiderFTW Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 With Cedar Fair's recent trend towards B&M, I think I'd rather see a wing coaster go there than anything else out of B&M's repertoire. I'm neither amazed nor bored with the wing coasters I have ridden (Gatekeeper, X-Flight, Wild Eagle), but it seems like the best fit when you consider what all the park currently has. Like, I doubt they would go for a dive coaster with Griffon down the road. I really don't know that a flying coaster would have the capacity that Kings Dominion would require, and everything else that B&M produces either already exists or has a fairly similar counterpart at the park. A GCI wouldn't be bad, but I don't know that they'd have a good enough capacity for the park, either. The Cedar Fair parks that have received GCI coasters are the smaller ones (Worlds of Fun, California's Great America, Valleyfair). I've read somewhere before that Prowler's maximum capacity is somewhere around 920 people per hour, which is a far cry from the (1600?) people per hour maximum that Diamondback originally opened with (and supposedly hit on numerous occasions.) Without doing something something non-GCI (like adding an MCBR), it doesn't seem like a GCI coaster is feasible. 1 Quote
rhyano Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 I think they should get a B&M hyper coaster Quote
davidw Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Correct me if im wrong, but it was revealed last fall that Carowinds is spending about $30 million on a B&M giga coaster. They have said that its going to cost $30M and be 300+ feet tall, nothing else has been confirmed. There has been some plot plans that have footers that seem to resemble Leviathan, but those plans haven't been proven to be recent or for this project. 1 Quote

Hmm...well, on the GCI topic, I give you Wodan Timbur Coaster @ Europa Park- a GCI that has a supposed capacity of 1250 riders per hour and runs 3 trains. http://rcdb.com/10018.htm A similar ride could work at a park like Kings Dominion, if that capacity is anywhere near accurate- it actually beats the on-paper capacity of Kings Island's Beast by 50 riders per hour. And Europa Park pulls 4+ million guests in a year, so if they could do a GCI with good capacity, no reason Cedar Fair shouldn't be able to. Quote

thekidd33 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I think the biggest investment KD could see next year would be a dark ride like Wonder Mountain. As has been stated the big money is going to Carowinds next year. 2 Quote

The Interpreter Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Well nothing did happen, coasterwise. And then--- Quote
rhyano Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 and then they removed Shockwave for a flat ride! 1 Quote
