Micechat has a great podcast this week left over from this year's IAAPA interviewing president of Premier Rides, Jim Seay. Mr. Seay has fantastic recollections on his time working for Six Flags, then Premier, and has plenty to say about the development of The Outer Limits: Flight of Fear.

He also mentions visits by Disney executives who rode the ride and were blown away and complimentary of the theme. His comments on Flight of Fear, Al Weber, and Paramount's Kings Island begins at 23:00.

I have a news paper article from the Enquirer back in 1996 about Flight of Fear, and it goes on to say even the US Navy and NASA looked in on Flight of Fear's development, stating they were looking into LIM technology to help launch their respective aircraft/space craft.

I know we like to wail on Paramount and their flaw laden park management practices, but I must give credit where its due, they got Flight of Fear right.

While the LIM technology had never been used on a roller coaster in the way Flight of Fear used it, that technology had actually been used on at least one roller coaster over 15 years prior...on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad of all rides. I think the People Mover even used it as well. But I like Flight of Fear's use of it a little more to say the least :)

4 replies so far and no mention of the hue difference the restraints that are on FoF today made compared to the ones that originally were on FoF.

Hue difference? The original OTSR's were black. The restraints now are orange.

There you go.

I'm pretty sure the original OTSR's were green, but you made your point. ;)

EDIT: I just checked rcdb to confirm my memory. There are no pictures on there of KI's OL:FoF with the original OTSR's, but there is one of KD's... which were green.

Sorry to drag up an old post, this was a great listen!  Do you guys know of any other good KI related podcasts?  There was one long review from Coaster Radio that was awesome to listen to, but I don't see many more like that from a quick google / itunes search.  Thanks in advance.
