malem Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 ^ Free Fast Lane Plus, bring-a-friend, dining plans, and great weather (especially compared to yesterday). 1 Quote
Gannersdaddy Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 still about 10 minutes for Diamondback Quote
bjcolglazier Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 ^ Free Fast Lane Plus, bring-a-friend, dining plans, and great weather (especially compared to yesterday). Plus a bye week for the 6-0 Bengals... 3 Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 As opposed to the usual Bye Bye Bengals weeks in the past... 2 Quote
KIDB Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I was really kind of surprised by the crowd today. We used our Fast Lane passes a few times and it seemed to cut the wait about in half. The Beast was 45 around 5:30 and we waited about 20 in the Fast Lane line. Food service was absolutely atrocious today, some of the worst I've seen all season. However, we brought 6 friends that hadn't been in several years, so it was still a great day. We rode everything except The Bat and The Racer. Considering going on closing day if the weather is nice. bjcolglazier Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I suspect the crowd next Sunday will be highly weather-dependent. Â Looks like it'll be relatively warm for November 1st...but will it rain? Â I'll probably be there either way, just not sure how long. 2 Quote
Gannersdaddy Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Diamondback crew was really on it today. Â We closed the day with 3 rides on it (I am guessing it was the power hour deal). Â Banshee, not so much. Â Adventure Express and Racer were walkons after 5. Â Food lines seemed really understaffed. Â We ate once and it was backed up at the register. Â Seemed like a lot a fast passes in use, but the ride operators were keeping it all moving fairly regularly. Â Overall, pretty good. Â Got in 12 rides (without making ERT), ate a meal, and caught Blood Drums. 2 Quote
CoasterDirected Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I doubt if I'll be able to hit up the park either on good ole' Halloween. It's much more likely I will end my season at Great America if I go to any. I can't go Sunday because I'm taking a friend ice skating and I don't get to see her nearly as often as I like, and the last time kinda ended on a sour note. 1 Quote
kikid74 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I suspect the crowd next Sunday will be highly weather-dependent.  Looks like it'll be relatively warm for November 1st...but will it rain?  I'll probably be there either way, just not sure how long.  Does closing day typically provide an attendance bump over other Sundays during Haunt? I know there are a lot of other factors that go into it (weather, Bengals game, whether it is before or after Halloween...) My Sunday experiences have typically been last weekend in September or first weekend in October...not quite as crowded those weekends as the dates closer to Halloween. 1 Quote
jcgoble3 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Closing day, in my experience, is usually walk-on city all day long. Your experience may vary, of course. 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Much depends on weather. Terp...who has never not sobbed on a Ye Olde Park, Maple Grove or NJFTP Closing Day. 2 Quote
bjcolglazier Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 There's a pretty good video on youtube of closing day, 2014. Â Wasn't busy. Â However, it was A LOT colder closing day last year than it's supposed to be this year. 2 Quote
BeeastFarmer Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Anyone care to conjecture about Haunt on Saturday night? I'll be coming up after work, so it will be a the end of the night, probably around 10:30. Besides a ride on The Beast and Diamondback, any suggestions on a specific Haunt t try out? 1 Quote
bjcolglazier Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I'm conjecturing it will be insanely busy, but I'd love to hear others saying it won't be. Â I'd love to go Saturday night, and Sunday...I'm just not sure about Saturday. 2 Quote
malem Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Even when it's busy on Saturday, the 12am-1am hour can be a good time to get some rides and/or mazes in. Then get in line for The Beast just prior to 1am. (Careful; they cut the line based on the intercom announcement, which can come as early as 12:57am) 2 Quote
Magenta Lizard Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I think somebody rented a hearse to come to the park in style tonight. It looks to be of the type currently in use, and raced past me in the parking lot on its way to handicapped parking. 4 Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 See the Camden Park thread in KIC Meet Ups. I don't think the cat is rented! 2 Quote
electricsun Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 A guy I used to know would purposely purchase strange cars, fix them up, and drive them. From what I remember, he at least had a hearse and ambulance. He loved telling stories about people's reactions. The pictures were priceless. 1 Quote
SOBwasaSOB Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 here by myself and so far it is mostly walk-ons. 3 Quote
Magenta Lizard Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 The reason I thought this one was rented was that it's a very modern one, not a classic one someone fixed up. It didn't have any special touches I'd expect on one not currently operating, either. 1 Quote
mandyw103 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 To kikid74....I've attended closing day the last two years and almost every ride was walk on or short waits. But that being said, last year was FREEZING. Like only a few rides were running throughout various times of the day. In fact we rode The Beast about 6 times in a row because that was about the only ride running....so I would say expect lower crowds than normal but it would be weather depending as well. Gannersdaddy Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 At Diamondback for ERT. Waiting in line? There is a bunch of cameras and crew by the exit 2 Quote
Magenta Lizard Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Yeah, they just tweeted about that. Gary Coleman just took his 13,000th ride on Diamondback https://twitter.com/kingsislandpr/status/660473685439066112 5 Quote
Gannersdaddy Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 We wrote just before that. Diamondback line is pretty light today. We have been on 5 times already. 2 Quote
Oldschool75 Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I haven't seen Gary in a while. He has been a long time family friend. Glad to see him at 13k. To those that want to hate and dismiss his ride count; just go away. If you knew him, you know he doesn't lie, and has no reason to. Congrats Gary! jbum123 Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I saw Gary a few weeks back. Big shocker here, it was on Banshee.... 2 Quote
Magenta Lizard Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I saw him a lot this summer, taking advantage of ERT on DB. He's well rounded tho, I also saw him a number of times at Cirque Imagine. Really a nice guy. 3 Quote
kikid74 Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Five minute wait for The Beast at the moment. 1 Quote
Admiral Ackbar Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 It usually isn't too bad - it's Sunday and the haunts won't be open. Quote
