Guest dtk1376
https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/things-to-do/events-and-promotions/Guinness-World-Record-attempt-for-most-heads-shaved-simultaneously Didn't see this posted anywhere so thought I would get it added, seems like a neat way to promote a good cause. World-Record attempt consists of more than 200 stylists from 26 Great Clips salonsGetting your head shaved isn't typically noteworthy. But more than 200 people getting their head shaved simultaneously? That's a different story. As part of the Kings Island Kicks Cancer campaign, a new park initiative focused on raising awareness and funds for research, treatment and care in the fight against cancers affecting men, women and children, the park will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most heads shaved simultaneously to raise awareness about The Dragonfly Foundation. The world-record attempt, which will consist of more than 200 stylists from 26 Great Clips salons located in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland, Lima and Toledo, will be held August 1 at 10:30 a.m. inside the park on International Street. The current world record for most heads shaved simultaneously is 182 and was achieved by Cancer Council ACT - Canberra Relay for Life at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, Australia on March 29, 2014.Now through August 24, visitors to Kings Island can make an impact in the caring and cure of cancer by purchasing a soccer ball for $5 and kicking it into the park's fountain on International Street for a chance to win a 2015 Honda Fit, courtesy of Performance Kings Honda.Net proceeds from soccer ball sales benefit The Dragonfly Foundation, Melanoma Know More and Pink Ribbon Girls. The Dragonfly Foundation's mission is to bring comfort and joy to kids and young adults up to age 30 who undergo treatment for cancer at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. They provide distractions and support that ease the pain and fear these young patients and their families experience on a daily basis.

Guest dtk1376
I think it's the part of having it all done simultaneously. But I agree that people do stretch a bit to get into the Guiness book lol. The main point though is it's a special way of promoting a good cause.
malem
Lol I sometimes never understand Guinness World Records. For a fee, they'll help find a world record for you to break, document the attempt, and publish the result.
thedevariouseffect
Just..wow But yes tremendously good cause. If I didn't have a PT test that morning I'd go, shaving my head doesn't bother me.
Guest dtk1376
I wonder if I would count as half a head shaven since I'm already half bald thanks to genetics.
malem
The registration for this event is already full: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b4baeaa23a13-kings I suppose it's possible that walk-up participants would be accepted if there are enough no-shows, but I wouldn't count on that.

Magenta Lizard
From the Guinness World Records website: What is a world record? Guinness World Records only recognises WORLD records. We do not recognise national or country specific achievements. All Guinness World Records must also fulfil some key criteria including: Measurable (all records must be defined as the fastest, longest, tallest, shortest, largest, heaviest, oldest or most) Based on a single variable (we would only recognise the fastest car OR the longest journey - but never the longest journey in the fastest car) Verifiable (can you prove it?) Breakable (all our records must be open to being challenged by a greater achievement)
LoraX
If I could be at the park on the 1st, I would do this. I had planned on shaving my head if my friend Julie had lost her hair to cancer treatment. Great cause though. If you can't participate in this, please consider kicking a soccer ball or two to help!
thedevariouseffect
If it's the most something has been done, it's a record. Is this a challenge?
medford
If it's the most something has been done, it's a record. Is this a challenge? I would have assumed one of the branches of the military would have unofficially held this record at one point.

BoddaH1994
Guiness World Record is the authority on world records. They will help clarify and certify records, but not all make it in the book. Side note: I've been a judge for a Guiness World record and had to send a certified record to them about the event and that all rules and regulations were followed.

BoddaH1994
Longest consecutive wake board ride at Wake Nation Cincinnati in Fairfield. Had to be there for 24 hours. Was one of the most fun things I'd ever done.
