westcoaster Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Interesting thoughts? Poll of questions ? Future of Wooden Coasters? Quote
jcgoble3 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 You need a "neither" option on the last question, otherwise nobody can answer the poll questions without saying one of them will go hybrid (you cannot answer one question without answering all questions). EDIT: As well as a "no" option on the first. After the SOB debacle, KI may very well never touch wood again for new coasters. 2 Quote
purdude86 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Yea I voted for The Beast on the third question but only because I had too. I don't see them messing with either one. Racer is a historic coaster and still well liked, plus it fits the theme of that area better than a steel coaster would. The Beast is a classic as well that I don't see being messed with either. Not to say it isn't possible for either but I would be surprised to see it happen. 1 Quote

DontWantToWait42mar0 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Somewhere Mr. Helbig is sobbing. Is "sobbing" a term for reminisicing about Son of Beast? Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I just type 'em. It's up to you to interpret posts appearing as Terped. 1 Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Comparing Six and FUN and assuming we will never see a traditional woddie again is kind of silly. It seems SIX is happy and has a good thing going with their hybrids . Plus, just maybe they had a contract with that company for so many? On the FUN side of things, look at Gold Striker just last season. 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Indeed, I wouldn't race to any conclusions just yet. Terp, who remembers when SIXing a park normally meant putting in a Boomerang and an SLC, Vekoma. Quote
KIBeast Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 The one that I would vote for which is not an option would be wood coaster like El Toro installed at KI. 2 Quote

Yes, I would like to see a prefab as well. I have never ridden one myself. The only thing that concerns me with FUN about that is "Intamin Coaster" which they don't seem to be doing a lot of business with right now... 2 Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Note that after El Toro, SIX seems done with sich as well... Quote
KIBeast Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I would say after the accident at Cedar Point, Intamin has to figure out a way to regain their customers' trust and confidence. Has El Toro had problems? I haven't really been around any message boards for quite some time, so I'm out of the "loop". 1 Quote
homestar92 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 The world needs more GCIs... I'd be happy in a world with more Dinns. It's a lonely existence... 1 Quote
MDMC01 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Even though I voted for a traditional wooden coaster for KI, it would be cool to see an original (not an re-tracking of an existing coaster) RMC hybrid come to Kings Island. And I don't think traditional wooden coasters are completely done for, either. 1 Quote

If I remember correctly, it was because of a lift motor. Quote
