Thabto Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I'm planning to go to Winterfest on December 16th, and the forecast says hi of 34 (I know that's still a long way out and that could change and probably will). Would MT be able to run? I'd probably only take one spin on it. 1 Quote
whengodsaysgo Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I want to say I saw an interview with Don Helbig where he mentioned the start up temp needing to be 23. I could totally be wrong, of course. 1 Quote
Creed Bratton Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I don't know the exact minimum temperature for Mystic Timbers...but I do know that as long as the ride is started at or above the minimum temperature it can typically run if the temperature drops below it, barring any other unforeseen circumstances. 1 Quote
Oldschool75 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Start up temp for MT is 35 degrees, but can run in lower temps once it’s running. I’m thinking he said maybe 25, but doubt people would even ride it at that temp. This was said at the ACE Ohio Holiday party by Don. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 You are saying this group or GP? @Oldschool75 2 1 Quote

Cdeq Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 I can confirm it is 35 degrees for us to start the ride and get her going. 1 1 Quote

Oldschool75 Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 So, by that statement, this Saturday is not looking good for Mystic Timbers? I would say probably not. Then again I’m not going to Winterfest to ride coasters. Go enjoy the Winterfest activities. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3 Quote
King Ding Dong Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 I rode some coasters last year at SFSTL at around 30F. It really isn't that bad as most coasters are at around 2 minutes and it feels brisk and exhilarating. A 4 minute Beast ride might be pushing it. Although doesn't it take like three of those minutes to crawl up the lift hill? 4 Quote
JubJester Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Just rode Mystic in 27 degree weather today. Might of been my best ride experience on it ever. 3 Quote
malem Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 @exscream team and I can attest that The Beast is excellent at 27°, as experienced the day before closing day back in 2014. Glad to hear MT is running great at that temperature, @JubJester! I'll need to make it there on a cold night this season when it's running. 4 Quote
Thabto Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Looking at the forecast for this Saturday, looks like temps won't be an issue. 1 Quote
CoasterOhio Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Tempts are not the issue. The snow is the issue. If there is too much snow of the tracks, it will slow the ride. Causing the valley that occurred on Saturday. 1 Quote
Thabto Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Seeing that the high is 46 with sunny weather, snow won't be an issue either on Saturday. 1 Quote
Thabto Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 I ended up getting 3 rides last night. It didn't feel too bad on the ride although it was a little chilly during one of my rides. 1 Quote
