The biggest loss is that lava effect at the end.
cdubbs727
My son (8) rode this last year. He's fascinated by roller coasters but still not ready for the bigger ones (his cousin convinced him to try Mystic Timbers and...he was not ready, lol). Adventure Express is such a perfect first coaster. He loves it. The thing that terrifies most kids -- the big drop -- is not there, but it's still fun enough and gives him enough twists and turns that he has a great time with it. He doesn't care about missing lava or lights because, well, he never experienced them (he'd love them if they were added back in, though). When people talk about wanting to get rid of AE or Backlot Stunt Coaster, I realize they likely don't have young kids; those are fantastic introductory coasters. Now, as we consider taking a trip in late July, he's already talking about moving up to The Bat and The Racer.
BeeastFarmer
The Beast is my favorite coaster, but I rode AE more than any other last year. The lava effect was working early on, but not later in the season. in '18, it was working consistently on my visits throughout the year.

I always thought they should extend the coaster past that point, re theme it with a winter theme to fit Oktoberfest, retheme the trains to Carowinds Goldrusher type trains, and boom they have a brand new family coaster to market with a small investment. Also you have to remember the monorail went under the last hill going in the station.

I thought it merely swooped by the track while you were leaving the station?

Yep; it went over the beginning of the ride (where Express' trains plunge into tunnel one) and then under the end. You can see both crosses in this old photo, courtesy Chris Gray.
David Ellis
I rode the Adventure Express the first time in 1991 at Kings Island although I started at 5 lifetime rides since I made my big return to the reality of riding the roller coasters back in 2022 just three years ago....and when Adventure Port opened two years ago in 2023, that's when I've finally returned to riding Adventure Express.....this past June 2024, I did in fact realized that I got my 500 lifetime rides in resulted in getting my Adventure Express swag bag (consists of Adventure Express sticker, Adventure Express t-shirt along with my first ever airbrushed t-shirt with 500 Rides Adventure Express on it and yes, got a temporary ride certificate with Adventure Express for my 500 rides featuring the Sycamore Gem Mine Tunnel (Tunnel #1)..... I've racked up 714 rides (615 in the 2024 regular season--New Record & added another 99 rides during Halloween Haunt)....with my lifetime rides at 935 so right now that my total is at 1,649 lifetime rides with 351 rides away to my 2,000th ride which takes place later this Spring/Summer 2025. Then just this past October, I've received my second commemorative ride sign (first ever on roller coaster) with Adventure Express 500 Rides with my name and date on it....Now that I'm inching toward another goal of 2,000 rides.
