Next ride removal

Featured Replies

I think the next rides removed will be in Hanna-Barbera Land to make room for Nickelodeon Central's expansion.

Hence, I'd say Dick Dastardly's Biplanes and Scooby's Ghoster Coaster are next. We'll have to wait and see.

Have a great off season!

Biplanes have already been removed.

I bet they're there next year.

Nope, they are at CAROWINDS. It's been rethemed to Nick and installed in their new Nick area. sad.gif

Scooter's yes, Bi-planes no.

Bi-planes is speeding into 2005! biggrin.gif

Personally if there were anything new coming into the park, i think it would be placed over by fof where the old helo pad was. there is nothing but a huge field back there.

When H-B Land is phased out around 2008, I reckon that most of the H-B rides will be re-themed and some will surely leave the park. We'll wait and see.

Have a great day!

Actually, the removals of the rides with the exception of Kenton`s Cove Keelboat canal, were not influenced by (as you say ratings) popularity. In the case of King Cobra, and possibly the Tiques, rising maintenance costs and issues led to their demise. The removal of the Eagles was not a PKI decision but a corporate decision.

king cobra was not only taken out because of maintanence problems. it was taken out primarily because the park was only suppose to have it for 10 years but they had it for 14. it was supposedly a prototype for togo to build a similar ride in japan.

but on topic.... who knows what would be taken out, if you remember the conversation that was put on a forum sometime here, the park works 2 or 3 years into the future so there is really no way to tell.

no..... Biplanes are indeed at Carowinds.

I do believe Mr.Siebert saying Eagles and Tiques as being the only rides removed in 04.

Well, when I was at PKI last Labor Day weekend, we waited about 15 mins for Top Gun, while SOB was a walk-on.

I don't know why some of you actually want a roller coaster to be removed from your park. Wouldn't you rather have the collection grow? Oh well...

I guess opinions change on which rides we think will be removed. Last year, everyone was betting on Congo Falls, now its Green Slime Zone/Ghoster Coaster, and Top Gun. The only likely thing I could see being removed, would be that theater in Nick Central. It seems like it is blocking any expansion of Nick Central, and is for the most part...unused.

Its not that we want them to remove rides. They just do. I wish they wouldnt remove rides either and just keep expanding.

Picnic Grove is behind it.

do people even eat in there? i just see KI employees there on the special associate days

Its used for companies and such, theres always guest asking how to get there, of course I've never seen it in use by guest as i don't walk past there. Just associate lunches, and volleyball tournaments. There was one associate grillout where there was another party in another shelter.

The picnic groves are used for company picnics. I have been back there because that is where they had a stop for the Pumpkin Patch Express during FearFest 2003. They had all sorts of activities there. Also, for Nights of Fire, the park has in the past couple of years used the grove as the location for the season pass holder cook out. And as was mentioned above, druing the off season, the covered shelters provide protection for various coaster trains while they are not in the shop being rehabbed. Adventure Express, Vortex, Top Gun, Runaway Reptar, monster tubs and the former Eagles tubs used to be kept there in the winter.

Just because The Picinic Grove is behind it, doesn't mean that they can't get rid of the theater and expand in its place, even though it may only mean a kiddy flat or two or a new restaurant.
