PKI has to make sacrifices to make it in the world of Theme Parks, however, they need to keep the things people enjoy most and get rid of the things people don't enjoy.

And right now there are more kids watching spongebob square pants than the smurfs. True some kids know the charecters in HB land but can HB compeet iwth disney and nickolodeon now a days? Come on.......no unfortuanently it cant.

Your right they can't compete with Disney or Nick, however, they can keep things that the people like instead of keeping things that are not enjoyable.

Keep things people like? Sure A LOT of people like HBL and the HB theming. You do, I do. All those kids who grew up wiht it do. But theres even A LOT MORE kids who like nickolodeon rides and attractions. You may not find them enjoyable but jsut you wait and see in 2006 when NC expands and you see how much money the park brings in from kids coming to the new NC.

HA! ha! HA! ha! HA! CombatStupendous89 dude your funny! okay now paramount will nolonger have HB rights after 2009 but Six Flags does have rights to use Hanna-barbera and they do in some of there parks why go toe 2 toe with disney? Universal studios has Hb characters like{Scooby Doo,The Flinstones,Jetsons,Yogi Bear} along with Nick characters walking around there parks. Now Smurfs are on everymorning at 7:30am to get the lil ones off to school and the smurfs have a theme called Smurf Park it's in the england why Nick may be popular with kids these days kids still know who the flinstones,Yogi,Jetsons,Smurfs are thanks to WB.

Maybe your kids, myslef, my sibblings, and children of some of the users on here but the kids being born today have no clue who msot of the HB charecters are. While Im a fan of HB, Nickelodeon is beating it in ratings and money. KI is going to bring in more people with Nick charecters than HB charecters. Scooby is whats keeping HB's heart pumping.

First off I dont have kids..Iam only a college student my nephews(4 & 12) cousins (5& 8) love HB and have you seen Cartoon Networks Ratings? they are always on top of Nick all nick has is spongebob & fairly odd parents besides Classic Hanna Barbera cant be seen anymore unless you have Boomerang plus wait a new yogi bear cartoon is in the works for kids WB! If there was no HB there would be No NICK today smile.gif

Thats true, and im not dissing HB at all, I love HB, and higher ratings does not mean its more popular with kids. More people may watch CN but that doesnt mean more kids watch it. The reason cartoon network kills Nick in ratings is because of the jappaneese cartoons and shows like dexters lab, power puff girls, and teen titans. And kids WB isnt even considered a threat by Nickolodeon. No offense to the HB lovers at all, but the reality is as we see time go by were going to realize more and more that Nick and the newer cartoon network shows are more popular than the classics.

Thats really good movies like these will always do very well because people already know who they are and therefore thats why you will see the jetsons, flintstones,Yogi Bear movies do well kids arent the only ones that may want to see these movies the parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents may take kids in there families to see a movie based on yogi bear or scooby doo because they grew up them and want there kids to know them.

It shows, scooby doo is whats carrying HB right now. The flintstones first movie did so well cause it was geared towards adults. Why dont you compare those to some of the Nick movie earnings. The point is that HBL is going and NC will expand. NC will bring in more money over time. We cant change corporates minds.

Problem is I don't let my kids watch much of the Nick toons that you are talking about except SpongBob. My daughter who is 3 years old loves to watch the old cartoons that I watched when I was a kid. Just because Nick has all these new caracters coming out doesn't mean they are going to be popular with all kids.

see your kids are into the older charecters, as am i and my sibblings but as time goes on your going to notice that the younger parents kids are into nick

Hate to break it to you but your kid is in the minority. It's good to hear that your kid is an exception and likes older cartoons, but most kids perfer new ones. Why? It's what is on TV to watch all day.

Your correct. Most parents let their children watch what they want when it comes to cartoons, however, my daughter loves to sit with me and watch the Jetsons, Flinstones, Scooby Doo, Smurfs, and Bugs Bunny. I think what ever KI does as far as a themed area for kids will be a success.

Man whatever happened to good ol' Nick. When I was a kid they had the classics like Pinwheel and You Can't Do That on Television...the originator of green slime. I'm waiting for a You Can't Do That marathon one day.

That was the best show on Nick. What was the words to say if you wanted to get slimed? "I DON'T KNOW"! Great show. I also loved to watch Mr. Wizard. How time slips away as you get older.

Getting back to potential ride removal...

While I don't think removing anything is really necessary, my vote would be for either Vortex or Top Gun. However, Vortex's main benefit is its capacity...which I believe is one of the highest in the park? (1800 rph sticks in my head for some reason...) I guess I only listed Vortex because personally I just don't enjoy it that much anymore...I think I only rode it once all of last season.

Top Gun suffers from capacity, duration, and placement issues. And since the "aircraft carrier" portion of the station has been closed, it doesn't even have any creative themeing to redeem it. To be honest, Paramount never would have chosen Top Gun in its current format for PKI...they were basically stuck with it because KECO was already too far into the contract with Arrow to back out at that point. (What was KECO's orginal name for TG? "Thunder Run" or something like that?) I've always imagined that if that hadn't been the case, our Top Gun may have very well been a B&M suspended like PGA's... (Or, maybe we would have just gotten DoT a year earlier...who knows.)

I think taking out Adventure Express would be a big mistake. AE is one of the best mine rides ever built, both in terms of themeing and ride quality. In fact, I'd say it is second only to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at DL & MK. It is easily one of the two best rides added during Lindner's ownership (Phantom Theater being the other...) Plus, it has great capacity, very good ridership, and appeals to a large demographic. (It's a great "trainer" coaster that lots of people can enjoy.)
