Carowinds announces layoffs

I find these layoffs at Carowinds interesting. You'd think Six Flags Entertainment Company would be pushing for additional positions in Charlotte, after essentially investing so heavily in the area and expanding the offerings at Carowinds. 

If they are truly consolidating roles, why wasn't this done prior to the merger? 

I doubt this will be the last park to do this.

I suspect part of it may have been wait to see who actually relocated to Charlotte and we know the mothership employees would get priority over the local Charlotte park employees.  And they wouldn't consolidate until the merger was completed.  I doubt that consists of all of the layoffs, and who knows, maybe they will announce a removal of Winterfest25...
