Marineland Canada no more?

Recommended Posts

This is the one park where I can safely say that its closure is completely justified.

It does hurt that we're going to lose another classic Arrow coaster, but one coaster isn't worth the amount of neglect and abuse the animals there have to endure. Hopefully the animals there get the help they desperately need.

Completely agree with this sentiment. I went to Marineland once years back when I was visiting my family in Canada. I was truly not impressed by the overall vibe of the park. It was sad, felt overgrown and left a lot to be desired. This was still when most of the rides were operational and I can gladly say that I did get to ride Dragon Mountain more than once and the awesome Sky Screamer launch tower. But none of the rides made up for the sadness in those animal's lives and their pathetic enclosures. Kiska dying alone in that sad tank broke my heart. She deserved better. All of the animals that have died and currently live there deserve(d) better. Human greed never ceases to disappoint me.

You need to work on your reading comprehension.  The document you posted says they are keeping the developed park land and splitting off the undeveloped land from the park.

If you read what I said, it may be on it's way out. I don't know the makeup of Marineland's operating hours, but I know that people who have built homes near Kings Island after the park was built, complain about the noise all of the time. It'd only be a matter of time before complaints come in and ownership decides it's not worth operating any further. Of course, may or may not happen...who knows. But I see this as a way that will eventually cause Marineland to go under.

Marineland needs so much work it's just insane. However if someone was going to actually invest in that park selling some of that expensive unused property is a good move. Marineland as it is now is one of the WORST parks I've ever been to with the exception of dragon Mountain and it's dedicated crew - they are too good for that park. I would hate to lose dragon Mountain but Marieland needs to tear down all those old aquariums that are awful living quarters for their animals. I don't profess to be any sort of animals rights activist but the exhibits those animals live in at that park is beyond sad. I'm shocked the Canadian government has just shut the entire place down
