KIBeast
Not sure if this is news or not, but PKI, PKD, and PC are raising the required height for their junior wooden coasters. You can read about it here...height requirement If this has already been discussed, you can feel free to close.
dxrunner
Oh yea we were told about this stuff at orientation and at the seminar, i have a feeling a lot of these changes are going to p!ss off a lot of guests. Racer, Beastie, Flume, WWC, Viking Fury, amoung other rides have changed there height requirement
King Bowser
I know people will be mad about it this reminds of when PKI put this requirement on Phantom Theater people were p*ssed.
CoastersRZ
Why change the height on The Racer? If you remember, Adventure Express and Racer used to have a height requirement of 42" before they bumped it up to 44" around 2000 or so. I`m sure the changes are results of their insurance company/lawyers to try and prevent lawsuits. Even at Coney last season, we had a change on our Ferris Wheel. It used to be under 48" and the rider needs an adult. Well, last season they changed it so that under 36" could not ride and between 36"-48"needed an adult. Needless to say we got a lot of complaints for that change. Although that change, I believe, was instituted by the state of Ohio, and not Coney. familyman
It's a safety thing. I am sure there is a good reason.

PKIFan4Life
Not being family oriented, it's called safety buddy. Changed happen for safety, not so the park isn't family oriented. Also, Racer has been moved up to 48".
TRTR Guy
I've always thought Racer should have the same restriction as Beast, since they both have the same trains, and Racer hsa more airtime. (Anything has more than The Beast which has none)
Ben
PKI is just asking for an attendence drop.
CoastersRZ
Yes, I never understood quite why The Racer and Beast were different, other than The Beast having a lot more strong lateral forces. The thing I don`t get is if the rides (like The Beastie) have operated safely for years with the current height restriction then why change it? Safety comes first, afterall, the theme park industry prides itself on its safety record, and parks usually self police themselves to prevent an injury that would ruin their reputation as a safe park. PKIFan4Life
Ben you are an idiot. This is a step in the right direction. Why don't you go back to pointbuzz cus all you do is **** everyone off.
Gordon Bombay
PKIfan4life, shut up, he makes a good point, a lot of people are gonna be upset about the new height restircitions especially since a lot of kids may have riden something like The Racer for the first time last year and loved it and now they will come back to the park unable to ride it. And Ben was right, maybe the girl was scared but Racer can be pretty rough as well as Beast. Better safe than sorry. Youve made what.....4 posts on here........and you think all ben does is tick everyone off? I bet youve only seen him post a few things.Already your new to this site and acting like an idiot. Ben is entiltled to his opinion and point especially when its reasonable. You are entitled to an opinion and poitn but not entitled to being a jerk. Ben
Ben you are an idiot. This is a step in the right direction. Why don't you go back to pointbuzz cus all you do is **** everyone off. I'm not trying to make anyone mad. There will be a lot of upset guests this year. My nephew loves riding Racer, it was the only big roller coaster he was able to ride last year at PKI. We would have to frequently make visits to The Racer just so he wouldn't get upset and think we were not thinking about him when we rode roller coasters. Yes, he's now 48" and can ride all kinds of rides, but for kids 44-46" that love roller coasters & thrill rides, are going to be upset this year with PKI. Gordon Bombay
Bens right, it will be pretty dissapointing especially when most people wont check KI's website to see the new changes and get to the park realizing kids cant ride some of the rides they were so pumped to ride. Yes it will make a lof of people mad but I dont think it will deal a very crushing blow to KI.
KIBeast
^Seems to me Ben has been here considerably longer. He has several more posts. Anyway, the girl might have been frightened. Plausible reason. This will have no affect of whether or not PKI is family friendly. That completely makes no sense at all.
Ben
Not all children enjoy Hanna-Barbera Land or Nickelodeon Central. Some kids actually like tall and fast roller coasters and thrill rides. Now that the rides that used to have a height restriction that made it possible for children to ride is gone, HB Land and Nick Central will become even more crowded with people trying to keep their young happy. dxrunner
How bout you guys quit being a bunch of morons and quit with the Flame war. Little kids used to come back screaming there heads off all the time on racer because they would push the lap bar down FARTHER into there legs and it would scare them. Gordon Bombay
some familys might feel angry towards this but i dont think its a big enough number to make a difference. A lot of people are actaully sensible and realize its for safety, not all families are going to be idiots and try to argue with the ride ops over height restricitons, i hate it when people do that.....like they willa ctually convince the ride op. Is there really any reason to call it a flame war? You dont have be an insulting a-hole. Its an argument up for discussion on these forums. You seem to get in a lot of arguments. Ben
Well there's nothing we can do about it. I'm not very happy with the decisions PKI has made for this season.
dxrunner
To quote ben- "well theres nothing we can do about it" That sums it up exactly so why complain, it done its over with, thats why i think you guys had a mini flame war going on. Its also not an "argument" up for discussion, its WHAT HAPPENED. And yes combatstupididioso, or whatever your name is, have you looked at my member title? It doesnt mean SOB the ride
Ben
Cedar Point has similar restrictions like this. 46" is the height requirement for Iron Dragon and Disaster Transport, which aren't the most thrilling coasters.

moore
i dont get why they have to raise the height requirments if there havent been any accidents. its probablly just a precaution to prevent accidents, but...If back when I was younger they told me i couldn't ride like AE I would have gottin really mad b/c I thought all of the other family coasters were dumb(cough..beastie)
Ben
That's where I am trying to go. There are children out there who want to ride roller coasters that are fast and tall. These restrictions are going to limit that, and for those who could ride, might not be able to ride this season. A lot of being are going to be upset with this rule. Also, I bet a lot of people will walk in the que not seeing that the height requirement has been raised, and fights will break out between guests and employees.
