Click here to read the article. It talks about how PKI will be more Hollywood-oriented and how The Beast will get sound effects for it's 25th. Nothing that we couldn't have derived other than that, but this probably either is, or is greatly associated with the March Announcement.

"There's also talk of a Hollywood-themed sign to replace the one that was blown down in a storm, as well as plans for sound effects and a video presentation. "We're giving it a Hollywood makeover," Siebert said"

I wonder why they want to add sound effects to The Beast. It has been one of the best coasters for 25 years now, IMO if it ain't broke don't fix it. Another question is: where are these sounds going to be at? In line, going up either lift hill, thru the tunnels? From my understanding the name "Beast" came from the KI execs taking some of the first rides and having the thought "it sounds like a Beast thru the tunnels". The ride goes thru the woods, and part of the fun (especially at night) is all you can hear is the coaster on the tracks, and the million crickets in the area. It is obvious that PKI is going with a heavy movie theme, but I hope that rides like The Beast will not be affected too much.

Adding sounds to The Beast is probably one of the lamest ideas I've ever heard. As if anybody will be able to hear the sounds over the screaming!

I thought they named it The Beast because it feels as if you're being terrorized in the woods by a beast when you ride it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Great coaster! Don't need no stinkin sounds!

The first tunnel, at the bottom of the first lift hill, has always been there. The other two, after the second lift hill weren't always fully enclosed. They didn't become actual tunnels until later. The underground tunnel is the first one, after the drop hill...so you see...it is entirely possible...

Actually, tunnel #2 as it exists today is comprised of two original tunnels. The beginning and ending of tunnel #2 are in fact underground tunnels, and hence the reason the sides and top are made out of concrete. In the first season, the two tunnels were not connected, that occured in 1980 when they conneected the two underground portions with a wood tunnel. Also, originally, the double helix had a roof on it, but was not enclosed on the sides like a real tunnel. That too occured in The Beast`s second season in 1980. Additionally, for The Beast`s 20th anniversary in 1999, they had a speaker at the top of lift number one that continually played a growling noise to sound like a monster/beast.
