IJST Test Runs

Featured Replies

I was just at Kings Island today and I got to see the IJST run it's course a couple times. To tell you the truth it looked pretty slow because it practically crawled up the spiral at the begining(almost coming to a complete stop at the end of it) but i'm guessing their not running it at it's full speed yet, just probally running the early phase of the tests.(their wasn't any weighted dummies in any of the cars) The splash pool at the end has yet to be filled and the waiting line rails are still being put up but basically everything is up and running. The helicopter scene with the explosions and fire looks awesome and the fire that shoots out is an incredibley tall flame that booms even louder each time it goes off with extra help from a sound system. The only down side is that it is really short, and only lasted about a minute tops even when it was running relly slow(thats counting the big pause by the helicopter and gas pumps).

P.S. to the post above. Does the coney mall and rivertown look extremely weird without the antique cars to anyone else.

I hope it runs faster than that! A LOT FASTER!!!

With passengers, it may run faster, but not by much. It's not supposed to fly over the top, it's supposed to crawl, and it's not supposed to be intense, so therefore it isn't. I really don't know what you guys were expecting, seriously. If you want a stronger launch, go over to Flight of Fear across the midway. I think IJST will be just fine, even if it is probably the shortest ride in the entire park, haha, but atleast people who are afraid of the big coasters can enjoy an LIM launch and a cool coaster. Something that PKI does do very well is having something for everyone. And IJST will fit right in at PKI.

Dane and I were lucky enough to take a IJ tour yesterday. I can tell you that the splash pool is indeed full and ready to splash!

Does anyone know how long the ride will be in feet? I heard rumors of it being around 3,000 feet long which seems a little short. I think it will end up being around 2,000-2,500 feet which will put it about as long as Top Gun and Flight of Fear, in terms of length.

I am really looking forward to getting to ride this ride. I think it will be a really fun and enjoyable ride, even if not fun on thrills. This ride will be more about the story and theming than the roller coaster thrills. The ride vehicles, like at Disney parks, are a conveyance device that allows the guests to partake in an adventure and a story.

Although it may be somewhat slow you get shot at by a helicopter, have explosions go off all around you, feel like your going to fishtail out of control which makes the cars actually leave the tracks, go up at an almost 90 degree angle, crash through a bllboard, and get to experience what its liek to be a stunt driver. Its the SAME speed as the mummys revenge and that is an amazing ride, and IJ will be too.

I think the fishtailing is questionable as to wether or not it's there. I really didn't see the cars doing anything of that nature when they were tested last weekend. Of course I don't think the sound fx were working either and there were no explosions so perhaps it just wasn't enabled or something.

The cars will fishtail, they are yet to be unlocked. The ride is about a minute and 20 seconds.

Oh, ok, cool. Thanks for clearing that up, I was hoping they hadn't done away with that effect.

The splash pool was filled? Is it really shallow? I wish I could havev seen it splash up from my view. Oh well. The ride looks awesome regardless. If anyone thought I was dissing it that was not the intention. At the time it didn't look like it was just a slow ride but slow for that part of the track. If you would have seen it, it really looked like it wouldn't make it up the spial. Not a diss just an observation. Like someone said earlier it's not like they were trying to make a huge, fast rollercoaster but more of mixed media ride. I bet it goes slower too because the brake all over it make it feel like a real car chase( also to probally accelerate the whole fish tail thing) I can't wait for may 19th ( or 20th whenever it opens)

That's cool, I'd love to see them fishtail. Will the ride have a splash at the end? And how tall are the explosions?

The reason you probably couldnt hear the sound effects to well is because the sound effects like braking and engine sounds are played through speakers in the headrest and probably arent noticable from the midway

Yes being at the park today near Coney mall and rivertown that whole area looks different, without the tiques and the eagles!

thats for sure! But I just wonder how long it will be till they redo all of rivertown, along with Coney mall!

Only time will tell. But the ITJST looks awsome, I wish they had some soft openings so we could try it out before the official opening! Like what Disney does when they remodel a ride or open a new one!

beast rider

I think it might open for a soft opening this coming weekend. Media Day is right around the coner and they need to make sure even thing is just right for Media Day.

About the speed of the ride maybe they need to get the juices running awhile in the LIMs before the actually are able to get the train up at full speed.

It was kinda wierd looking without the Tiques there. What made me wonder even more is the fact that where the flying Eagles used to be, there is even more land than before IJ:ST. I don't understand why the had to take them out. I was never a huge fan of them, but I'm sure some people around here are really wondering why?!?

IJST did seem slow; hopefully the music, sounds, and themeing makes up for it. I also saw it complete a few runs today, and I hope it impresses me; as it didn't do that today... wink.gif

I`m really looking forward to taking a spin on it. When I was there today, I did not see it complete any test runs. But there were about four people working on a train on the transfer track around 3:30.

I cannot wait till this ride opens...our's is a LITTLE behind still but that's cause our weather was all over the place lately but its back to normal now, FINALLY, so it should be done soon. There are new pics on PCW's site as well.

Nice to hear that the explosion sounds like fun and is big, was hoping it would be.

Anyone have video of the testing (up to date with explosions) yet?

Give me a day and I will have that video up!

The splash pool was filled, but I dont think the had that effect turned on. From the copter, you could hear gunfire but you couldnt see it. The flame IS huge!!

During the tour, the speakers on the cars were turned on, very nice sound!

Not going to spoil the tunnel suprise for you all, but the track in there is wicked!!

All im gunna say is I hope PKD doen't get one. I saw the video and at the end I heard something like IJ "SUCKS!" Thank goodness PKD didn't get one this year but is still does look fun. smile.gif

And you guys. In the video... I think the ride is already lauching at full speed. Its only 40mph and Ricochet at Kings Dominion looks about that speed at only 35mph. 35mph isin't fast at all and the testing speed of IJST look about the same speed a Ricochet so I think IJ is already at its full speed...

The end of the video says "PKI Central sucks" not IJ sucks lol

Can you answer one question (cause we can see most the tunnel from the contruction pictures) but is there still a surprise element in the tunnel, excluding fishtailing? Or is it just the dip in the tunnel thats the surprise?

I have heard that they are having problems with IJ:ST and that's why it is running slow. Can't say for sure though.

I think IJST will be just fine, even if it is probably the shortest ride in the entire park, haha

Top Gun?

Little of subject but I really hope they do something with that slash down like color the water cause that looks like crap the way it is.

They were testing IJ:ST all day saturday and sunday everything has been running very smooth.

Click here to see a brand new video of IJST being tested on Saturding including rare shots of pyros!

Why is it that i can never see any PKIC videos??

Edit: Mozilla Doesnt like PKIC
