Themed better than any ride? Did you forget about Tomb Raider? I have been on both rides and Tomb Raider is ten times more and better themed than all of the hundreds of BMTRs.

oh my god, while in the BTR que i thought i was in gotham city, also all the trash on the ground was a nice theming touch as well!

Actually, the major Six Flags Parks are some of the worse. Take Magic Mountain for example. I think the last time they had all rollercoasters working the same day Michael Jackson was still normal. Their parks have no character. Batman is more thrilling of a ride but theme wise? Yes they have a mini city that you go over during the ride. Wow. Thats not great theming.

Lol, yay, Six Flags poor maintence and lack of TLC for their rides creates a trashy enviroment that actually ADDS to the themeing. I've been saying this for years, why doesn't Six Flags just name every one of their rides "Hell:The Ride" that way the themeing on all the rides would be Disney quality considering all their rides look like Hell.

Although from what I've heard and seen over the past couple years Six Flags is starting to make some of their parks much nicer and better maintained than before, namely SFGA and SFGADV

The only park out of all the Six Flags ones that seems decent in terms of theming would be the Fiesta Texas one. The other parks, even the ones improving still have a long way to go before I consider it a 'nice' park.

As a former employee of a major Six Flags park, SFOG, I can say that Six Flags has next to no themeing. I worked at BTR, and every year more and more of the themeing went to hell and back.......stuff got vandalised, broken, whatever, and it was removed rather than repaired. I left Six Flags to come to KI when they took away the steam trains at my park. KI is a much better park overall, and i'm much happier here......I will never set foot in a Six Flags park as a guest again

Not to crack on my favorite park. But has anyone not noticed the shaby condition of Top Gun.The theming has gotten worse and worse over the years. The track is rusting and the station aint looking the greatest either.I mean come on with the very little theming it did have how hard would it have been to keep in goos shape???

Sadly, it's true sad.gif Most Six Flags' do have better theming than any Paramount Park does, but as good as their theming may be, their management will never compare to Paramount Parks' world class management team (ranking with Cedar Fair's). As attendance shows, Paramount Parks is the fastest growing company in the theme park industry as opposed to Six Flags being the fastest declining company in the industry laugh.gif All the Six Flags parks are very poorly run (bad customer service) and very poorly kept up (trash everywhere, rides never working, bad food)! They think they can blow all of whats left of their money on a coaster that never works and it will save their butts instead of making much needed general park improvments! Six Flags' strategy is to keep building expensive coasters that only appeal to thrill seekers until their out of money and no one comes to their parks anymore (SFWoA) while Paramount Parks strategy is to keep building relativly affordable themed family attractions that appeal to a much broader audience while also making general park improvments (new eateries, maintaining rides, new shows) which offers the guests a better experience making them want to come back for more! Overall, Six Flags is terribly run, it takes away from the themeing, so it doesn't matter and Paramounnt Parks is exceptionaly run and will eventually rank up their with the orlando parks (theming wise)!

^Yep, they certainly do build everything that people want; that's why SFA hasn't had a new coaster for 4 years, SFAW hasn't had one in 6, SFDL hasn't had one in 6, SFFT hasn't had one in 5, SFKK hasn't had an actual new coaster in 5, and SFSL hasn't in 5. With most of these parks not looking to get another coaster for years and years to come. I agree they add what everyone wants.

Six Flags Parks may be poorly managed, but they build what the people want. Paramount Parks needs to build something new, and not rides that you can find at any other park.

They build what a select group of people want. Six Flags' greatest folly is the fact that they are focusing on thrill seekers only. They are only shooting themselves in the foot. And even with the thrill seekers group, they only seem to focus on a couple select parks (SFGA)

I mean, take a look at Great Adventure. They just got a coaster this year (one they built simply to say they hold some sort of record), and rumors are that they are getting an Intamin wooden coaster next year.

Now, a company that is already hard off for money really doesn't need to build two coasters back-to-back in the same park. It just doesn't make sense.

SF needs to pull their heads out of their censored.gif and focus on families and thrill seekers alike, and also need to not neglect their other hundreds of parks.

Six Flags likes to waste money. Paramount and Cedar Fair like to make wise investments. I've never been a Six Flags hater, but I do see the company for what it is:

A sorry excuse for a theme park that is run by juveniles. Instead of thinking out a plan on expansion, they see the words "big" "fast" and "cash" floating in front of them. The funny thing is, the ever-elusive "cash" is going to keep floating in front of them until they figure out what they want to do as a company.

Skippy hit the nail on the head when it comes to Six Flags vs PKI with regards to management.

Just my $0.02

hey, Hey, HEY (not meaning to sound like fat albert but) ARE YOU ALL FORGETING ABOUT ONE OF "THE" BEST WOODEN COASTER IN A SIX FLAGS PARK? Yes SF may slack in theme and ride but there is one ride I hold close to me. Dont Dis One Ride that ROCKS and makes me love at least one SF park. This ride is sadly not given the attention it should being the Best ever. This roller coaster can only be...

ROAR

If you think i'm over-doing this then you better get to Six Flags America and ride this awsome piece of work!

The Paramount parks are run MUCH better than any Six Flags park. Paramount is much more in tune with what people want, and they do maintain their parks to a higher standard. They are much more family oriented as well.

That being said, some of the Six Flags bashing is over the top. I have been to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Great America and St. Louis this year, and I had a great time at every one of them. I actually think Great America has the potential to be close to Kings Island with better management. There were problems with rides not running to capacity and food quality not on par with Kings Island, but it is still possible to have a nice time at these parks. I think a blanket statement like "all six flags parks suck" ignores the fact that you CAN have a good time at some of them. Six Flags has strong problems and their management is clueless overall about a lot of things. But some of the parks do have merit. Personally, I would like to see them make improvements and get better. I think the more high quality amusement parks we have, the better.

But yes, Kings Island is by far a superior theme park experience!

In all regards please tell me where in the heck would SFKK really put another coaster???They don't hardly have any land left.

I have always said that KK needs to remove the ole Hang and Bang (T2) and then they will have room for a new coaster. They could even remove the seldom use amphitheatre they have behind T2 and then install a much larger coaster than T2...

Just my thoughts on that!

Face it, Six Flags is an amusement park operator. They may not be the best, but they still operate parks, and are installing new rides for the general public to enjoy. People who live by the Six Flags Parks, are generally happy that they are there. It gives them a chance to visit an amusement park nearby their home. Some may think that their park is good. I have only visited one Six Flags park (when it was know as Six Flags) and that was Worlds of Adventure. I had a blast I was there. I was slightly mad that two of their less major coaster were closed because of maintenance, but I had a fun time, and would consider going back. The fact that lines were not long was a plus. The longest lines could have been alleviated if they had multiple trains on some of the coaster but I had fun.

It is all relative. Some people may hate PKI or Paramount Parks and love Six Flags. It is all a matter of opinion. Yes, the management at Six Flags is somewhat lacking, and the chain is in massive debt, but they are still attracting people to their parks. Afterall, Six Flags offers competition to Paramount, which provides Paramount incentive to keep adding to their parks too!

I think Six Flags is somewhat bi-polar when it comes to themeing... In some cases, they do OUTSTANDING themeing (i.e., Kingda Ka and the whole "Lost Kingdom" area), for others they do practically no (or very mediocre) themeing. I'd say that themeing for BM:TR (at least when it was new), Mr. Freeze, and Superman rides are pretty much on par with Paramount Parks' themeing efforts (IJST, CDBB, TR:TR, etc.)

I've been to several SF parks and have found the quality of operations seems to vary as well. (Although, I would say none of the SF parks I've been to are operated at the same caliber as PKI, when it comes to things like cleanliness, ride operation, etc.). Of the SF parks I've attended, SFOT was by far the best. I've been to SFOT probaby six times or so, and always had a good time. Cleanliness was pretty good, as was ride operation. SFGA is next as far as far as quality of operations (I've been there five or so times, too). SFWOA was a mixed bag...the first time I was there it was an ok time...the second time was AWFUL--all the horrible things SF is known for. I've been to SFKK three times...once before the conversion to SF, and twice after. One trip was pretty good; two were pretty bad (guess which two biggrin.gif ). SFMM was a TERRIBLE experience. (Yes, they have some pretty cool rides, but if they're all only running one train, what difference does it make?) I was there a few years ago during Spring Break, and the park was filthy, and it's the first time I ever felt somewhat unsafe with a theme park crowd. (It was sort of the theme park equivalent of a crack house raid laugh.gif )

I can say all Paramount Parks except pga are all better than any SF parks. SF doen't even come close to pki or any paramount parks. BTR does not compare to pki's TRTR or pkd's TRFF. Saying that BTR is better than any themed rides at paramount parks? Look at Tomb Raider: The Ride at pki, Tomb Raider: Firefall at pkd, Italian Job: Stunt Track at pki and pcw, the new nickelodeon central area at pc. Flight of Fear at pki and pkd, Volcano, The Blast Coaster at pkd, Vortex at pki and more! All of them are way better than some BTR. Boo! All SF parks sucks! All SF parks are mostly poorly runned and always want more thrill than getting family additions to attract more people. Paramount Parks is the fastest growing themeparks of now. SF is more of an Amusment Park to me when Paramount's Parks are more of a better Theme Park. laugh.gif

uh... hello... why do you think they're in the process of repainting it? next time you're on the ride look at the support posts out near SOB and you'll notice they're a nice new deep steel blue. I agree that it needs to be re-done big time but the ride overall is fine. The paint job does not make or break a theme. it's the initial ride design that does.
