Hank
According to the RCDB - check it out for yourselves - The Beastie is now called Fairly Odd Coaster.
Outdoor Man
Fairly Odd Coaster. What great respect to call a 33 year old coaster "odd." Marketing genius! Must have come from the same minds that thought it was a great idea to trade the most popular player and public relations machine for the Reds to the competition for an unknown, problem laden pitcher (sorry, still sore about that one). TheKlockster
They could call it Michael Bolton - its still a good ride. It is small - but I have to say its a great coaster. Its better than a lot of grown up coasters I have been on.
King Bowser
How many topics are there on The Fairly Oddparents:Fairly OddCoaster?!? But any way I hear it will be getting a new coat of paint with the name change.
WooferBearATL
What a sad day. I really hope that rumor is not true. If it is, I hope that they really look at the person that made that decision. I completly agree that the name "Fairly Odd Coaster" is completly disrespectful of a coaster with such character.
TheKlockster
It is a stupid name - I would have taken another name better - but like I said - it is the ride that counts.
WooferBearATL
Yeah, But Klockster - ya gotta agree that this coaster is a classic smaller coaster. It's great for the kids and for adults. There honestly are not a lot of coasters out there that breech the two. Ya either have an adult coaster or you have a kids coaster. Beastie is a classic. At least when the name was changed from Scooby Doo, it was given an equal amount of respect.
King Bowser
I miss the theme of the scooby doo coaster with the mystery machine photo booth.
Outdoor Man
I remember being able to say with a great deal of pride that even though I was not old enough to ride The Beast that I had rode The Beastie. I think the theming for it being the "Jr." to the "Sr." was excellent. hmmm- maybe once Nick Universe expands to encompass all of th eold RiverTown section we could be looking forward to a Barney colored 7,400 foot record-breaking roller coaster called something creative like the "Kinda Cooky Coaster." Soon, my daughter is going to be of Roller Coaster age, and just as the HB characters came and went, so too will the "Fairly Odd" franchise, and I would much prefer her first coaster experience being on the legendary "Beastie" than the "Fairly Odd Coaster." There has to be enough subscribers to this site to cause some stir to get PKI to review this. Moderators.... is there a chance of this happening in the least? TheKlockster
Yeah, I never thought about that before. There is that sense of accomplishment riding The Beastie. Plus it is an ACE classic - what kind of name is Fairly Odd Coaster for a classic? They probably would have been better off leaving it Beastie eh? RollerNut
I would be worried about the tunnel at the bottom of the first drop than the name. It is being rethemed to Fairly OddParents to attract more kids to ride. It is called a ploy. This is the same reason the rest of the area is being rethemed to Nicktoons. Gordon Bombay
Yeah you people might nto like the name, but are you really gonna stop letting your kids ride it, are you really that offended by the name change that you want to start a petition or something or make PKI feel your "pain"? Do you really think people are gonna stop coming to the park just because the name is different, 90% of the general public that comes to the park probably didnt even know it was The Beastie, just that small wooden coaster I can take the kids on with me, no matter the name or paint job its a great coaster for everyone like klock said, it could be worse, what if they decided they wanted another coaster or a different ride there, I think we should be grateful that we have such a classic coaster that so many can enjoy rather than whine about its name. FOF/Z 4-ever
Nah, everyone just likes to complain about everything.
RollerNut
I doubt the GP didn't know it was called Beastie. The GP at Carowinds knew our Odd Coaster as Scooby-Doo or Ghoster Coaster. The adults and teens would always say "They changed the name, it used to be Scooby-Doo". We heard this even during Winterfest when the ride wasn't open. Outdoor Man
you're right. i'm al for changing the name of The Beast too. and maybe even The Racer while we're at it.
Gordon Bombay
^no one suggested changing the name for those but even if you did it wouldnt matter, people would still ride it, as long as you didnt make it something like "Hitler's rhineland adventure" and put swastika's on the car. PKI_Diana
Let's all shut that time capsule now. Just think, In the coming years, you'll remember it as Beastie, and know why its called that. Makes me feel old. And close the door to that era...
RingMaster
Let's all shut that time capsule now. Just think, In the coming years, you'll remember it as Beastie, and know why its called that. Makes me feel old. And close the door to that era... ^ 'Sides, even when it is re-named to the Fairly Odd Coaster, you can still call it The Beastie if you really want to. To also prove a point (or completely throw a new random topic your way), the mechanical term for SDATHC is Darkride, considering it's (obviously) a dark ride, and has been a dark ride since the park's inception in '72. Outdoor Man
i like your comeback Combat.... creative.... but honestly, as a kid (8 years old perhaps)... which are you going to get more excited that you conquerored, Beastie or Fairly Odd Coaster? I would have been embarrassed and made something else up.
Gordon Bombay
^But you didnt watch the Fairly Odd Parents when you were a kid and not all kids make the connection as to what Beastie means, kids are gonna run all throughout NU screaming "I rode the Fairly Odd Coaster, just like the one Timmy (the charecter from the show who once wished for a rollercoaster in his backyard) rode!" This is gonna be a good thing for the kids in an area dedicated to the kids!
Outdoor Man
I'll have to agree to disagree with you on this one. I still think it's a "fairly terrible" name change for one of the original coasters to the park.
kjkjkj
but for kids it will be easier to relate to the coaster now

vortexdemon05
it should be Fairly Old Coaster.
kjkjkj
ya, I dont see what the huge problem is, we can all still know it's Beastie in or hearts
hauntguy
Geez, all this hate! I think it's a great move for PKI to change the name... the whole "family of coasters" (Beast, Beastie, SOB) was kind of redundent and might I say... stupid. Yeah, hate me... but you know someday The Beast will come down, it CANNOT stay up for forever. I think it is really clever that PKI change the name of The Beastie to better fit-in with the new expansion. After all... "Beastie" in a Nick Universe... it wouldn't fit! Kids would say "What show is that from.." or "I don't remember that character/show!"... I think we all just need to back PKI on this and know that it will be for the best! We can't keep coaster for forever! -Hauntguy
WooferBearATL
Yeah, I disagree with that folk did not know it was called The Beastie. I think that this very well may be a topic that would need to be voiced to the powers that be. Ideas Moderators?
Outdoor Man
i don't know WooferBearAtl.... i think we stand alone on this one.
Browntggrr
Nah, I agree that changing the name is a poor decision. It is too bad that Paramount's marketing department is forgetting that The Beast back in 1979 is what put Kings Island on the map. Beastie was a way to have kids enjoy a ride when they could not get on The Beast. It doesn't matter what the ride name is, it is still a good ride, but PKI is certainly squashing the nostalga behind it. The Odd Parents is just a fad and will eventually disappear like the Smurfs. True I'm still going to call it Beastie I can understand why PKI is renaming but I'm gonna miss those tombs stones like Jim Shoe etc..The Odd Parents are Nick's 2# highest rated Nicktoon Spongebob being 1#. Browntggrr FYI the smurfs are making a comeback in 2008 and you can thank paramount for that.
