Notice that it says:

"Front Gates open at 10am each public operating day."

Gone are the days of the 9-10am hour roaming International Street!

And gone with them are the nagging realizations (to an associate running late) that there are guests roaming International Street, which means its at least 9:00, which means the associate ain't gonna make it in time!

But Klockster is good with watching the clock - thats why I am never late! Hablo can vouch for that one!

10 AM THATS WHAT TIME THE RIDES OPEN.

I think they should be open until midnight on saturdays and fridays.

I don't. smile.gif

Mr. Klock... umm I believe those guests on I Street kept you late several times.

PKI.com needs to change the map they have on the sight it is from 2004

Ummm...No it's not. Click the link, it opens the 2005 map in a PDF file.

If you're talking about the thumbnail of the map, there's no real reason to change it. There's not enough detail in that small of an image for someone to say "OMGZ! IJ ISN'T THERE!?!!" That thumbnail is just to say "Hey! There's a map here! Click me, baby!"

Yes, but from 9-10, guests were allowed inside the park to roam. But not anymore.....

Oh that is really WEAK! with a capital W! mad.gif

One has to wonder what this means for the ACE walkback. Or, for that matter, the Gold Pass Early Ride Times. Are both a thing of the past now? And I admit, that it does stink that they are cutting back their hours some. 11 o`clock openings in October? No extended hours for the 4th of July? Oh Well.

This calendar is not exactly final just yet. They could add hours, even a couple days in November, like they did last year. But the fact that the hours have been reduced, including the 9-10 on International Street being gone, and being closed on Easter Sunday, is disappointing.

I've said it before. I've heard from several people in the Park that it was a bad year all around. The cutbacks don't surprise me, but some of them are stupid. I also hear that a lot of the shops on I-Street will not be opening until NOON this season. Guess we'll see how that pans out. I've also heard Nick Universe has been cut back DRASTICALLY. Guess we'll see, its all just rumor. All in all, I'd say it shaping up to be another spectacular season at PKI. Sigh.

Well, I doubt that Nickelodeon Central has been scaled back. And secondly, a lot of the restaurants, including the Festhaus (and some rides such as WWC and Action Theater) have opened at noon for the past several years.

I wouldn't be doubting that NC was scaled back.

Remember, the parks are FOR SALE. Would you increase investment, keep it the same or reduce it where you could if you were selling something YOU owned?

Think about it...

I agree with Interpreter, I think the current owner has scaled back the original NU Plans. This would explain why information coming out of the park seems to not conform to what was announced in the fall. I think there was plans to build a great SpongBob attraction but, it got axed sometime in the late fall. (Just a guess) Building a great NU or a subpar NU would make no difference in the parks selling price so, why spend the money.

Face the facts early that it's going to be a very lean year. You're gonna see a lot of things not invested in. Seriously, Paramount and Viacom really don't have a need to filter a lot of capital into a business that they will only have for a short period.

Also note that with the exception of the first weekend in October, the park opens at 11:00am on saturdays and sundays in the month of October.

The crowds at the gate at 10:00 are going to be really bad now since the hour before is gone. There wont be time to spread the crowd out. It would almost be worth coming an hour later just so you don't have to stand in line just to get in.

Yes, I personally think that the gates opening at the same time of the rest of the park is a bad move. But, it is a cost cutting move by the park. They don`t need to have all the security personnel manning the ropes into the areas for an hour. Same reason why they aren`t opening until 11 in October, to save costs.

Did you guys notice the 10:00 close on the 4th of July? I wonder if this means that Nights of Fire got the axe.

I was just getting ready to post "Schedule subject to change. " also. It's still early, hopefully there will be a couple of changes.

Well, it all comes down to money. The probably cut the days in which they lost money. Easter has always been a slow day at the park. After last year and the final weekend, I would imagine that they will not be open so that they could get ready for WinterFest.

Closing early is sad, but its good for me........If I stay too long I get drowzy while I am driving home. I am sure the staff wants to get home also. Hopefully they will keep Nights of Fire!

Mr. Klock... umm I believe those guests on I Street kept you late several times.

On a few occasions, while doing my routine power-walk back to Vortex, I was accosted by Matt... weird.gif

As far as Nights of Fire - I bet what they are doing is closing the park at 10, then doing the fireworks, then everyone goes home. In the past they reopen some rides after the fireworks - but it is kind of pointless. From what I saw last year, alot of people go home after the fireworks anyway - and not all of the rides reopen. The ones that do are only open for an hour.

I imagine that for gold pass ERT they will allow gold pass holders through the gate early. Also they may do that with ACE members - requring proof of membership. As it was last year - anybody could walk back on the ACE walkback.

You are assuming, of course, that they aren't just going to push the rope drop back an hour till 11AM as well. Although, to be honest, I don't really see that one happening. I think the general consesus is right and that the park looked over its revenue from I-Street from 9AM-10AM and decided that hour of exclusive shopping time was just not working for the park. It also doesn't help matters that the park has, to my knowledge no place to get a real hot breakfast, and the French Bakery is gone. Sorry, Starbucks doesn't count as they are readily available on your way to the park.

The park also probably overlooked the fact that the early I-Street opening helped distribute the crowd into smaller groupings at multiple points in the park to help ease opening congestion.

The closings are also worrysome, looks like the park is hoping to shave off unproductive (financially) early and late hours.

Why is it though that parks are deciding to shorten their evenings, I realize it works out better for the staff, but that magical time of walking a park at night and seeing the lights of the midway are slowly becoming extinct.

The move is not unprecedented though, Disney's Magic Kingdom in Orlando has been reducing or eliminating opening Main Street USA early. (Except, that is unless you have a breakfast or tour reservation)
