CoastersRZ
No details have been announced with regards to FearFest this year. How many times does it have to be reiterated that no major changes will occur to the way the park is run for the remainder of the season. FearFest will be no different, I presume, than it would normally have been had the parks not been sold. All the plans are (were) in place for FearFest. P.S. You might want to check out our terms of service, particularly the first paragraph.
Shman
Actually there are going to be some changes to FearFest this year......no, im not going to go into specifics, but i will tell you that these plans were in place before Cedar Fair came into the picture. Last year, Jeff told me that Fearfest was going to get a big revamp this year so hopefully that's what you're talking about!
CoastersRZ
Yes. That is kind of what I was saying. FearFest will occur how the park had originally planned it to occur this season. The sale to Cedar Fair will have little to no impact on FearFest this season. From what Jeff Siebert was saying before the final rides of The Beast last season, they were going to turn more of the actual park into a scare zone, similar to how they do it down at Universal. Whether they actually do that has yet to be seen. But I think the CornSTALKERS attraction was a big hit last year. Big enough that they added a similar type thing over by SlingShot AFTER the first weekend of FearFest.
LongLiveTheSmurfRide
does anyone have anyinfo on fearfest this year.. and is Cedar Fair gonna mess with it? (i hope not) lemme no - thanx collin I don't think you'll have anything to worry about with Cedar Fair in regards to Fear Fest. They seem to be big fans of Halloween events. Cedar Point's Halloweekends are just as good as KI's Fear Fest and Cedar Fair's Knott's Berry Farm is constantly considered the best Halloween park in the country. So once Cedar Fair DOES begin impacting the park, I don't think Fear Fest will have anything to worry about.
PKI Punk
^ But consider this, Cedar Fair did get rid of the halloween event at Geauga Lake this year. So really anything can happen, but I still think we will have. Just remember, anything can, and will happen.

Delirium13
I think Geauga Lake's Halloween event was scrapped because of the park's low attendance.
cstrwomann
Cedar Fair CANCELLED GEAUGA LAKE'S HALOWEEN EVENT BECAUSE OF LOW ATTENDANCE AT THE PARK. THE PARK IS VERY GOOD BUT IT'S NOT ADVERTISED ENOUGH AND PEOPLE ARE UPSET BECAUSE THEY GOT RID OF THE ANIMALS. OLDER PEOPLE DON'T LIKE WATER SLIDES/ROLLER COASTERS. THEY WERE USED TO THE ANIMALS BEING AT THE PARKS AND SOME WILL NOT GO BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ENOUGH SHOWS FOR THE ADULTS.
Captain Picard
Halloween events are big money, I say it will get bigger and better. If you have been to HHN you know it can only get better at KI.
Beast79
Fearfest has brought in big crowds. I hope Cedar Fair ups it some.
PKIVortex
Besides that, Fearfest is a good way to get people in the park in the late fall season. Besides that, it's so much fun riding a coaster at 12am.
Gordon Bombay
^What about riding a coaster at 1 in the morning 5 times in a row while discussing architecture and amusement park politics with CoastersRZ? Beastbuzz was a fun time, and I cant wait for future events like it!
Guest TombraiderTy
the similar corn stalkers thing near Sling Shot, i must compliment them on that. even with only two scarers, it was a great job they did. A man was in some kind of vine cage to the right, banging at the bars. u believed he couldn't do anything, but he then backed up and jumped under the cage, sliding across the ground. JUmping back, a scarer hidden to the left jumped out at you. Those type of things are great- no lines. i hope they add some more, and i also hope that they do some stuff in Nickelodeon Universe. They could turn fairy tales into nightmares, like Sinderella, Snow Fright, and Prince Alarming. Dumb names, i know, but if they decorate WTRA like Knott's decorates their flume, that would be cool. Body parts and bodies would be all over, and even if it's a tame ride it could deliver big thrills. That's another thing they need- to turn normal rides into scary rides, like they did with Antique Cars and Action FX Theater. I think that Fear Fest will be a lot better this year, and i can't wait for it to begin.
beastfan11
i cant wait for it either what do u think was the best attraction last year? i think all off sleepy hollow horror was awesome
RailRider
We can only hope to see something like Universals park wide halloween production. Absolutely amazing, a must if you have never experienced it.
hauntguy
I highly doubt that Fearfest this year will be any comparison to HHN... but maybe in time, it can be! Plus remember that Universal is a year round park... bringing an amount of $$$ KI can only dream of! Therefore, they can put literally MILLIONS into there halloween events EVERY YEAR! -Hauntguy
The Interpreter
And HHN is not free......Annual passholders do get a discount, though. And a pass for the duration of the event is available, but that pass is just for the event. And starting again this year, the event is also going on in California again. . . hauntguy
I wish KI would charge seperate ticket admission to Fearfest! Maybe something like $10-15 for a UV Waterproof stamp... Just to allow you into the haunts! This could keep lines down and make MORE money to spend on the next Fearfest! I don't know, I don't have any say in the matter... just thought I would chime in! -Hauntguy
Captain Picard
Express pass for $10-15 would work for me.
RailRider
I just hope it expands through more of the park like HHN. Thats what I would like to see happen.
vortexdemon05
...like they did with Antique Cars and Action FX Theater. I think that Fear Fest will be a lot better this year... Antique Cars? You mean rout 666!!! that WAS ALSOME!!!!! how bout this... turning IJ:ST in a fearfest ride? lol
TheKlockster
And HHN is not free......Annual passholders do get a discount, though. And a pass for the duration of the event is available, but that pass is just for the event. And starting again this year, the event is also going on in California again. . . So under Cedar Fair season pass holders can expect to have to buy tickets like everyone else in October? Even if they don't go to any of the haunted attractions?
The Interpreter
Never said that. Halloweekends is free with admission at Cedar Point. Same at Dorney. In fact, at Dorney, bonus weekends have reduced admission fees since Wildwater Kingdom is closed! Besides, HHN is Uni!
TheKlockster
Ah ok - I was thinking you were talking about Cedar Points event. I can understand Universal's - they take it over the top.
CoastersRZ
It was my understanding that Kings Island wanted to have more haunts on the midway spread throughout the park, similar to what they had with CornSTALKERs over by Swan Lake last year. RingMaster
I can't confirm any of this, but my guess is that Action Zone is the next area to get zombified for FearFest this year. Last year marked the debut of PCW's FearFest: Haunted Theme Park, where every area (minus the kiddie areas) was a part of the mayhem. There were a total of three scare zones--MTV Rockin Scare, Back Lot Bloodbath, and Curse of Sleepy Hollow. Now, so far, PKI has two scare zones, Coney Maul and Sleepy Hollow. So chances are that we'll get a third scare zone due to the sucess of PCW's Haunted Theme Park. The problem is that Action Zone has very few places to put mazes at. The only two that I can think of are Timberwolf's entrance (utilizing both Face-Off and Drop Zone entrances) and Top Gun/SOB's exit. Obviously, they're going to bring back the little Gauntlet area by Sling Shot since that was a tremendous sucess last year, but I'm just assuming that Action Zone will just be filled with creepers running around and maybe a cornSTALKERS-type midway in TimberWolf. ....unless they decide to make a return to using the Paramount Theater for a maze, harking back to 2000's Pirate Jack and the Legend of Halloween (or something like that). Naturally, of course, I have some ideas of my own, if you dare to ask to hear what they are...
SOB_TOM
Why not turn DoT into a haunted house? It wouldnt be that hard, but you would have to somehow use the center island... Or take the old greeter from KC and cut the backside of the fence and run the haunted house behind Delirium...
cstrwomann
How many haunted houses did Fear Fest have last year? I went to it 2 years ago and it was great. It's not cancelled for this year and I hope they don't cancel it next year either because it's a huge success.
