just for fun
Was there all day on July 24 I’m not sure someone said a power failure happen. Not exact on this but I think it may have happen at about 5pm. I saw what seem to be several rides down all at once. The slingshoot was stuck in the air, zephyr stuck at the top, Viking fury was not moving and no one was on it. I was not at it but I look in the air and Drop zone and Delirium was not in the air. Lot of security in that section not sure if it was just that area. It was extremely crowed and rides that usually had very short lines seem to be very long even with more then one train running. To me it seem like there was more people at Nick Univ. this day then when I was there on the fourth of July. If it did happen I’m think with the heat and everything running at full loads may have caused it but again I don’t know just was listening to other people. The radio I had a lot of people talking about being stuck on rides. Just wondering If anyone may have anymore info on what happen around that time? CoastersRZ
What? Are we talking July 25th or June 25th? As in today or a month ago? Because if it was a month ago, it is a little late to begin talking about something insignificant as a power failure. That happens sometimes at amusement parks. TOPGUN1993
I remember a Power failure at Americana the sky ride took about 4 hours to get people off (the last one off was at 11:00 PM) The only rides open were the slide and funhouse. CoastersRZ
Well, it was a Bring a Friend Free day, so you knew it was going to be packed beyond belief! I fixed the topic title as well.
The Interpreter
I happened to visit an office building today where about a thousand people work-- about three and a half hours from the park. A number of people in that building had had the misfortune of going to Kings Island yesterday. They each apparently paid full price to get in, and they were, to a person, FURIOUS. Cedar Fair really, really, really needs to think about cancelling these all passholders can bring a friend free on the same day promotions. I think Kings Island did itself a tremendous disservice yesterday. They managed to **** off thousands and thousands of people, if the several dozen people I happened to see today are any example. BoddaH1994
On the media preview day in 2004 the whole park lost power. The employees handled it very well and everything powered up again about two hours later.
CoastersRZ
As I replied in another thread, they should give each passholder a ticket to be used anytime throughout the season, instead of on any specific day. This way all the extra crowds that come in are not focused into one day, but spread out over a number of days. They used to do this prior to the development of the gold season pass in 2001. Reclaimer
But that would make too much sense!
TheKlockster
That would be pretty cool. That way each passholder could only bring one friend the whole season - but could choose when to do it. I heard it was extremely packed - and saw a photo of cars parked in the field next to the Boomerang Bay lot. And just about everyone brought someone. just for fun
That would be great if they went back to allow you to pick the day you bring a friend. Considering what happen this time maybe they will go back to it.

SOB_TOM
The park technically never lost power. We just lost a phase of the power. So instead of being 3-phase, we were 2-phase. In plain English, We had power, but not enough consistent power (think of waves, and have three waves that go up and down right after each other, and then take one out. Same thing with 3-phase power.) to actually run anything. Please direct all questions to my PM box. I know I just lost half of you on the explaination, so I will dig up some old notes I have from Tech School.
