Jasper
I was just browsing through the historical photos and i saw the photos of Flight Commander's queue and i was just wondering where it is and if it is still there. From the pictures it looked like it was pretty close to The Racers. If it is still there can you see it from the midway or any toher ride i would really like to catcha glimpse of it if it is still there. Thanks! CoastersRZ
It is still there. It is almost right behind the Speed Pitch game on Coney Mall, which is right next to the seldom used food stand right next to the Skeeball game building. KIfan73
Thats gotten to be a pretty "forgotten" area of the park. I don't know why but its so depressing to see unused/closed foodstands. I wish they'd just get rid of them rather than never using them. Definitely gives me the wrong vibe when I'm at an amusement park.
TOPGUN1993
They use that food stand for storage and I once saw a lady in there making 'S
KIfan73
I would love to see a new flat ride there. Especially something that would refer somehow to KI's history....maybe some type of ferris wheel? Any ideas?
TOPGUN1993
Do they usualy take apart Launch Pad during the winter?
WooferBearATL
At one time that was Coney Funnel Cake. It was quite a popular little stand.

flightoffear1996
I can't really remember anything actaully ever being there. I cant even remember when Flight Commander was there.

It was then that I realized the Tiques would soon be gone. I had hoped I was wrong....

PKIDelirium
Sky Swatters are total pieces of maintenance garbage. SFAW's went to SFNE.

RailRider
The entire area consisting of the never open food stand, the crappy euro bungee, and the laser tag building that just sits there looking worse and worse every year, refurbished. Seriously that part of Coney Mall is dead. A nice ride like a SkySwatter, Topple Tower, Jump 2 or a Screaming Squirle would go great there and would really improve that end of Coney Mall also. Outdoor Man
apparently not too many are aware or it would have been posted already- but the Flight Commander pad was originally where Drop Zone was going to be located. I remember the summer before it opened a big sign in front of the Flight Commander site saying that "Something New Will Be "Dropping In" in 199_" - I don't remember the year. RailRider
I am personally glad the put Drop Zone in the front of the park. Gives the skyline a more agressive look, instead of being at the back of the park.
Shman
True....but that Drop Tower was also suppose to be one of those early Intamin ones, where there is 4 cars (one on each side) like Hellevator at SFKK. I like the fact that KI held off on those plans and went for the newer gyro drop.

RailRider
Yeah good thing they didnt go with the early intamin drop machines, those things are a capacity nightmare and take awhile to cycle. Glad KI built the Gyro Drop

You are absolutely right on that one! That area is not good. I hate unused/closed foodstands. It looks sad like 'there used to be good times here, but not anymore'. I hope CF addresses smaller things like that in the future, not just building huge new rides (which is OK too!)
PKIVortex
I'm sure Cedar Fair will address those problems. If they are not going to use that food stand then tear it down.
CoastersRZ
Well, before they up and tear down buildings, I would hope they would try and revitalize that area of the park. I mean, why tear down a perfectly good building. If it is closed because of foot traffic, which would be my guess, it is no wonder. They seriousely need to remove the Eurobungee attraction, and add a classic ride in that spot. I`m sure that the attention in that area would garner enough attention and foot traffic to make it wise to open up that food stand once again. WooferBearATL
Yeah, being a former food service supervisor the idea of a closed food stand just absolutely blows me away. At one time, stands and shops would only be closed on the slowest of days.
jzarley
Sky Swatters are total pieces of maintenance garbage. SFAW's went to SFNE. That would certainly explain why more of them weren't built... I'm a big fan of the new breed of flats...the giant frisbees, top spins, screaming swings, etc. They're a lower cost alternative to coasters, but still give a good ride experience. I was surprised at how much I really enjoyed "Sky Hawk" at CP this year.
RailRider
I will still love to see a S&S Screamin Squirel installed at Kings Island. Small footprint and still fits the family demographic. Who wouldnt want to stand around and watch that slowly flip over all day. Very cool.
