WooferBearATL
"...SOB will Be number 1 in all the wooden coaster world records." Really? Better start making that first drop a WHOLE lot steeper. Ain't no way in the world that thing is gonna have the world's steepest drop of any wooden coaster. 76 degrees. Nearly straight down. Son of Beast isn't even close. It will, however, have the record for once having, and losing, the world's largest loop on any wooden coaster. Oh, SOB has achieved quite a few records at this point. We're fixin on taking the record of sinking the most money into a ride that will essentially probably not operate in the future.
AZ Kinda Guy
10million :\ that number keeps ringing in my ear. I dont think its takes 10million dollars to tear down X-flight and re-build it here, and it didn't cost anything to buy the coaster since it was an "inside" trade. I think Kings Island is geting 2 attractions , X-flight and a mystorus thrill ride =O (im voting for a jump2 ) No it doesn't take 10 million to tear down X-Flight and ship it down here but fixing SOB isn't free. Seriously, you have no idea what your talking about and your passing it off as if you do. It's probably best you just stop talking. Hey Sparky, weren't you in charge of high steel maintainance work? Oh wait no... when you worked at the park you checked lap bars and pressed buttons. Why don't you quit hopping on people for speculating? I'm not allowed to say too much but I'm willing to say that come opening day, you're really going to have to put a foot in your mouth for attacking Rumor Smasher on this one. No I wasn't in charge of steel coaster maitenance nor did I claim to be. Your right, I was Head Supervisor in ride operations but I gained more knowledge about the industry in the six years I was employed at KI then I ever did being in some coaster club or running a fanboy web site. It doesn't take a genius to realize what "Rumor Smasher" is saying is seriously, well, stupid. Odd... the guy who runs the 'fanboy website' seems to know something that the former button pusher doesn't. I wouldn't be so sure about that. There's a saying in this industry and I know at least ONE person on this board(not counting me) knows what it is.
RingMaster
Is there any way to get some really dramatic-sounding theme music to play in the background of some of these rumor threads? I think it would really add to the 'experience'. Cue the Jeopardy theme song.
fryler87
Why can't anyone just accept that Son of Beast is changing, we will have X-Flight, and whether or not we receive another attraction, we'll just have to see? I just don't see how any more than 7 mil could be spent on X-Flight. I think there's a good chance there may be something else in store (only if the 10 mil doesn't cover SoB), but we'll just have to see. The Interpreter
...and there went Monroe's getting the most quotes. Seriously, though, it gets a bit hard to read and is a pain for those still on dial-up, I'm sure! (Given that's a BNSF train, it must be coming from Great America...) CoastersRZ
Well, I don`t have dial up, and I must side with Interpreter. With that many posts, it is burdensome to read, and they take up a lot of extra space on the page. And it is not like some of that stuff is buried deep on the first page or two of the thread. Reclaimer
Also, I wonder if there will be any substantial techology changes (i.e., new POS terminals, etc.) to bring the Paramount Parks into whatever standard systems the other CF parks use. My God I hope not. Paramount really had a grasp on the technology-end of things. If CF wants to put their 'technology' into the parks, you'll be picking up your stone tablet from Kroger for $34.95 and taking it to the front gates to get etched into a ticket by Gorg the ticket-taker. ...and I wouldn't recommend getting your hand 'stamped'

Seems that quite a few believe that Paramount's technology was barely hitting the 18th century let alone the 20th or 21st.
Reclaimer
lol...I wasn't saying it was anything amazing, nor was I saying it sucked. I can't say for sure, because I never personally used it. But compared to CP, the Paramount technology seemed futuristic.
CoastersRZ
Well, you have to at least give kudos to Paramount Parks for using the online guest feedback surveys. I know that they had at least a small impact on the way things were run in the parks. And, it was an easy way to get feedback from their guests, without having to poll guests as they exited the park. Its ashame that this practice likely will go by the wayside under Cedar Fair.
The Interpreter
Actually, I MUST agree with what has been said here. Paramount Parks was light years ahead of Cedar Fair in adapting modern IT practices. PP's season pass system was state of the art. And now, you can look forward, if you can call it that, to going back to parking pass decals. At least they have kept the IT department in Charlotte, so far. . . RingMaster
Sweet! We get the massive South Park-themed motion simulator ride, while Universal Studios gets the massive Simpsons-themed motion simulator ride! ...and then some Six Flags ride gets stuck with some mundane Tony Hawk Disk'o coaster thingy. The Interpreter
Actually, this year it is Thomas the Tank and the Wiggles at most Six Flags! Tony Hawk is a minor sideshow compared to the emphasis on the other two...and then there is something about a circus in Texas!
