  1. I think an unload station similar to how they run FoF would definately help hide the suprise, but it won't stop the general public from blabbing whats in the shed as soon as the first few trains get back. In that case, I almost do want to see 1 station with hopefully a louder speil and/or station music to cover any rider noise, but I think our best option to keep things a suprise is to get there as early as possible opening day and keep ourselves distracted somehow until we are able to ride.... As for the ride itself, great to see it coming together so quickly, even though its hard to make out anything past the 2nd drop from those amazing webcam views.
  2. Sounds pretty awesome this year. I have to get a few expenses together first, but I'm thinking of joining a club again this year since I havent done any events since Hollywood Nights 2010. I'm thinking GOCC may be best route there...does anyone have any experience with them?
  3. I won't say it's the best ride ever, but you have to respect it's heritage. The first 2 hills have some nice air, and you have to go back car axle seat if your doing it right.
  4. I may go either Friday after 4, or Sunday until 4 and see if there's any new MT construction...Depends how I feel about crowds. I've never gone to Dollar Days though, how bad is it usually?
  5. Exactly. I'm satisfied with a GCI since I've yet to be disappointed in a single one Ive ridden. I'm just trying to figure out something practical and innovative, since the facts we've received donthe quite match the renderings, case in point with the hill count.
  6. What's up, guys? It's been about 6 years, but I've met a bunch of you in the park recently, so guess I'm back. Anyways, on to the topic at hand. I'm SUPER hyped for this thing. Since day 1, I was rootingredients for a midsized terrain woodie, and while I was team RMC, GCI is still one of my favorite wood companies, so I'm pretty satisfied as long as it delivers... As for the shed, I'm leaning towards one of 2 things. The first is a backwards launch. While this seems impractical for blocks and such, the matter at hand is that I can maybe count 10 hills of the 16 the press releases promised, so going back over that second half again would make that part add up. My second idea makes more sense for a block. but their gonna have to hide ALOT of construction for it: an underground section. The shed has some pretty solid walls for a dive underground for another short section, possibly with an inversion or dark ride segment, and the animation showing the train come to a complete haunt BEFORE a potential 2-3 blocks means something is gonna happen in there than can space more than 2 trains for an otherwise short looking ride....
  7. Yeah, definately havent posted here in years lol. Apparently my avatar exploded so I need to make a new one...
  8. ^I'm aware of that. I'm just saying that is shares a very similar layout to the standard Galaxy model.
  9. I'd love to see something for the 125th next year. Would I prefer it be a coaster? Sure...Do I have an extensive list of coasters that would fit the park's atmosphere and possibly budget? Of course, but I just want something. As I adressed before, laketop flyers would be EPIC
  10. A good majority of the rides at Coney are some variation of holding down some sort of button or foot petal until the ride stops. Most of the more complex stuff like Python or Super Roundup are usually learnt later in the first year, and stuff like Rock-O-Planes, Ferris Wheel, and Golf are usually reserved for returning employees and so forth. On average, you should be able to learn everything but RockO, Wheel, and the cash attractions by the end of your first year as a ride operator....As for me though, I know everything after 5 years, but I usually just stick with Python.
  11. This is why I always keep a pocket notebook to write down suggestions with co-workers...Heres my current collective wishlist (non-coaster) for Coney: -Flyers: Great ride, very interactive, and fit the classic vibe perfectly. I'd love to see a set over Como, ala Indiana Beach -Chairswing/Yo-yo: Another classic that would go beautifully over Como. Thanks for showing what good placement could do, IB! -Go Carts: This one goes a bit away from Coney's theme, but we have Eurobungy as a modern ride aswell. All it would take is a fenced off paved path, possibly multi-level, and the purchase of some decent karts. Make it an upcharge and Coney has another hit! -Fun House/Haunted House: Plenty of variations here. Be it a walk through or tracked, Houses are staples at Traditional parks... -Troika: A nice new spinner, but maybe not since we already have a bunch of variations on that theme.... -Magic Carpet: Another classic, would go nicely with our current flat lineup, and its a nice mix of forces for new riders.... -Chaos: I'm sorry, I just love this ride. Its soo insane, and Coney could use another flipper. -Disk-O/Rockin Tug/Skater/etc: Some varient of this ride would be good as it works as a viking ship/spinner ride and they are fairly cheap to purchase. Thats it for now, but I think of new ideas all the time....
  12. Python's still ok...you just have to know where/how to ride. You have to remember, its still just a Galaxi-esque carnival coaster, and theres a certain art to riding them comfortably. /defending Python. Anyways, I have to agree with RZ on this one a bit. Working Python almost every day (its pretty much my ride now), I barely had the chance to notice the sign. Sure, I love the rehab thats been done to it (new paint, restained wood, BACK SEAT FINALLY COVERED!) But I never really noticed the sign until I was walking around one time when I was off work...Still, gives me a new slogan for it. Python, too good for corporate sponsarship.
  13. *Finally back to posting here after I dont even know how long* I actually like the changes on BBoBH. Sure it may not be the best shooter ever, but keep in mind this is STILL supposed to be a family attraction. I think that the more generic theme is better for everyone than just catching the Scooby Doo crowd, and some of the stuff like the mist projection and strobe lights really add to the experience. Definately a solid attraction, and I make a point to ride it atleast once everytime I go to KI...
  14. I need to post more often... I still say a coaster is viable. I'm thinking some form of Wild Mouse or one of those L&T coasters. They have some interesting mini-med coaster designs that we could probably fit. Anyways, my predictions last time were sort of right, so time to take another look into the future. 2010: New Waterslide/play area in Sunlight Pool 2011: New flat, possibly Disk-O or something from LaSourdsville 2012: New coaster (mouse or L&T design) As one last note, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF2429wClUo I think that would be a perfect coaster for the park. It would get the thrillseeker demographic, and possibly the traditional park-goer to recall the old days when Coney had a mouse.
  15. As a ride operator for the last 3 seasons at Coney, I can honestly say this job is the most fun I've ever had! Its a great way to get into the amusement park industry, you get to work with rides and be an entertainer, and its a good way to earn money aswell...Infact, the only reason I'm not working at Coney for the next few weeks is that I'm stuck in college with a lack of transportation.
  16. 1. Vortex 2. Firehawk 3. Beast 4. Vortex 5. Drop Zone
  17. Either way, I got plenty of photos of construction. I'll upload them later when I make my TR.
  18. Just something to chime in: When I went to the park today, I noticed 2 construction zones. The first was the obvious swan lake, with trees by the train sawed down. The second, which is the new info, would be near the graveyard. I noticed a lot of dirtwork and such in that large clearing. Could they be building there too?
  19. IJ/Backlot has always had the orp until this season.
  20. I think they were reffering to the glitch that showed dodgem's in the Lakeside Pavillion. Speaking of glitches, when I try to load the map, it always shows a sequence of full map with few rides on it, full map, then map of random parts with lots of white space.
  21. Allright! I managed to pull some strings, so I'll definately be able to make the meet up..So, is anyone actually planning this, or are we just imropving? I'll go to Drop Zone/Tower at 10am if we want to go with that plan.
  22. If I can manage to get a ride home for the weekend, then I'll definately meet you all there.
  23. Can someone post the commercial please?
  24. Wierd Al's gonna be pretty cool, but I still say the big event I'm waiting for at Riverbend is the Vans Warped Tour.
