  1. Seatbelts come from the left side of the seat! How did you get a Nexus 5 for $350? Mine was the Nexus 5 32 GB which I bought from Google Play for $400. Well I got the 16gb model and the base price was $350 but cost a bit more after tax and shipping. Got one for me and my wife think the total was $750. 16gb is fine for me since I had the nexus 4 before I upgraded and got used to using cloud storage and really don't need a whole lot of physical storage. Upgrade was totally worth it, better camera, LTE, screen that's world's better. Great phone Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  2. darn wish I knew that, would of tried that. Is there a secret to Diamondback too because I can fit it but it's kind of painful and I worry about my $350 google phone being spiderwebbed when I pull it out after riding lol. My phone was pinned right up against the harness.Oh BTW where did the seatbelts come from? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  3. Well me and my wife attempted to ride it, and I was successful. Barely with some help. My wife wasn't even close. Really not crazy about this "thigh pincher" design the new b&m's have, Banshee is pretty much just an otsr modified Diamondback harness. People just need to quit complaining about head banging! The ride manufacturers are listening and making it tougher for us larger people lol! Oh well my wife used to be able to fit Diamondback but that was before my son was born. Oh well maybe this will be motivation for me and my wife to start working on a healthier lifestyle...ha ha I wish, still haven't found that motivation yet Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  4. Forgive me if this has been asked already but I want to know the answer to the tough question. For people of "exceptional size" how forgiving are the harnesses? Only other B&M invert me and my wife have been on is Raptor at Cedar Point. No issues there and room to spare but there is 20 years between the coasters so obviously it's not much of a guarantee. How do these harnesses compare? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  5. Nevermind, my post wasn't really relevant to the topic, problem with Tapatalk and the unread section, hard to pay attention to what section the post is in. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  6. Probably Invertigo. I say that because while I'm not a big fan of Adventure Express or flight deck, they are still fun enough to ride if I don't have to wait long. Invertigo is never fun, because as soon as it changes direction. I start feeling nauseous. I always get off that ride feeling sick. Unless I'm trying to ride every coaster there I disregard it nowadays Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  7. I think I kinda jumped the gun on that and stuck my foot in my mouth. I'm a coaster fanatic but haven't ridden enough coasters to make that kinda claim. So Nevermind, nothing to see here lol Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all roller coasters have a brake run? Alot do, so it is rare. I have to say to be fair, I haven't really ventured far outside the Midwest to ride coasters. So I don't really have alot of b&m inverts to compare to other than batman and Raptor. And the one slc I rode, you guessed it, T2,which was back in '98, really can't recall much of the ride other than it being too short Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  9. Just watched the official POV, I didn't see a mid ride brake run. If it doesn't have to brake run that's amazing, because every other b&m invert and vekoma hang and bang I've rode has a mid ride brake run Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
  10. It's really a "to each his own" situation here. I get some people wanting some new state of the art coaster and being disappointed. And to me, I haven't been to an amusement park in 2 years, haven't really followed the news and it was a complete surprise to me. Inverts have always been my favorites, hell when I finally made it out to Cedar Point 3 years ago, raptor was second to only maverick. I loved it and rode it several times and each time got of it complaining to my wife and ranting about how Kings Island never got one of these. It's like a pipe dream come true, accepted the fact we'd never have one, and bam, it's coming next year, and it breaks 2 world records in the process. I've always wanted a b&m invert at Kings Island now it's coming, somebody pinch me! Can't believe it. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  11. Lol well can't argue with that. I mainly meant parks that were still open not reopening but it's a technicality I can't really argue. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  12. Why do so many people think that SOB was an eyesore? I personally think it was an amazing structure to look at, especially up close! I was mainly referring to its last couple years of SBNO. I was always bitter that it stood there, one of the first things you see when the park comes into focus but you were supposed to pretend it didn't exist. Rather have nothing there than a coaster I can't ride. When it was operating I agree, it was great seeing it but when it was just in limbo waiting on the park to make a decision, it was just an eyesore. I think we all knew it was coming. Has any park just let a coaster sit for a couple years and reopened it? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  13. I haven't read all the details, same restraints as raptor or new restraints? I mean raptor is 20 years old so I'm sure they've made improvements since then, but I usually improvements come with the sacrifice of less people that can enjoy them. Mainly those of us of exceptional size. Will that be a problem? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  14. I have to agree about the record breaking comments. Who cares really. If they would of actually focused on making the world's greatest wooden coaster and not on breaking every single record possible, Son of Beast would of still been standing. Instead it ended up being a 9 year disaster amongst 3 owners! I used to defend Son of Beast but gotta face the facts, the end result was a money pit and a liability concern for many riders. Also speaking of record breakers, terra coasters, coasters that exist for one purpose, to break records, and thats about the only thing their good for. Otherwise your waiting in line 2 hours so you might get to ride a ride that's all of 20 seconds long. Cedar Fair made the right call, yeah it breaks the length record but it's not the focus, the focus is to get rid of a 200 foot eyesore and put in a ride people want to ride, that the park needs. Can't wait, I'm pumped for next season! Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
  15. This is my first post in 3 years (lol at my profile picture). Just gotta say I'm ecstatic about this announcement. No this isn't some new innovative one of a kind coaster, but it's loooooong overdue. I have been a fan of b&m inverts since Batman the ride opened! I can't tell you my disappointment when I saw Face/off on a commercial for the park in 98 and showed up thinking Kings Island finally had a nice invert only to see this little tiny inverted clone of Kentucky kingdoms vampire coaster. I was actually pretty angry that day lol. Over time I grew to like it, and with age, grew to hate it again. It makes me sick. I mean literally, as soon as it changes direction, I'm feeling nauseous all the way back to the station. Didn't have that problem till I turned 30, now I stay away. Anyway at this point I had given up hope, really felt like we just missed that era, didn't even realize b&m was still making them. I think as far as innovative and unique coasters, we have Flight of Fear and The Beast, doesn't get much more unique than those. People whine about "oh its not a giga", tell me what can a giga bring that Diamondback doesn't already provide, or even succeed? Because I've rode both millennium force and Diamondback several times, and Diamondback is world's better. I couldn't be happier. I really don't even care about the records it breaks, I can now ride a b&m invert at a park that's close to home. It's exactly what Kings Island has needed for almost 20 years now! 16. While we're at it, anyone stayed in Castaway Bay? I originally intended on staying at great wolf but my wife got looking into it and found out they don't have half the stuff the Mason oh one has, so she looked into Castaway bay and found that bundle deal. I love gwl how does this compare?
  17. Yeah I'm staying tommorrow through Tuesday at Castaway bay and we're planning on leaving Tuesday morning to head on to PA to see my family. However we won't be arriving till noon tomorrow and as of now it's looking to be rainy all day so I may just save the pass for Tuesday morning instead, enjoy some ert and stay till noon an hit the road. BTW we got a package deal that included 2 nights at Castaway bay, admission to the water park, breakfast for 2 days, and 2 2day passes with ert to Cedar Point for $530
  18. Well too late to back out now either way. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed. Oh well if its busy guess I'll just ride the essentials and go back to the water park. It "bring a friend day" for season pass holders. I found out about this from facebook, and I made this thread because the comments were "you're drunk if you wanna go tomorrow, its going to be packed" etc. I did go to Kings Island on a bring a friend day, and it was no busier than normal. Can't imagine the park would be any worse than my second day last year, meaning I'll still be able to easily get on rides such as Magnum and Gemini. I do think this time I'll be passing on the following: Cedar crap mine ride, Mantis, Iron Dragon, Disaster Transport. I'd probably add Mean streak to that list, but I've heard some reports that they did a bit of work on it in the offseason and its a better ride than last year. The rest of the coasters i liked. And my one trip to Kings Island WindSeeker wasn't open yet, so I'll probably hit it up at CP. Is WindSeeker part of the ERT? You'd like to think it would be considering its obviously going to be long waits and breakdowns all day for that ride!
  19. That's weird, someone had a ride report from last year about this same time and the park was dead. Also I've been told Cedar Points peak season is July so i based my trip primarily on those 2 things. I do have ert my second day so that should help but seriously is Cedar Point ever not busy then? Rains in the forecast both days will that help?
  20. I'll make the most of it. Can't imagine monday will be too bad with it being a work day and no events. Vacation season is practically over too. Definitely learned the hard way on events. I went to Kings Island one time this year hoping to hop on everything with no wait and it looked promising considering regular season hadn't started yet and ride reports were saying the park was dead. I saw it was "Math and science day" but blew it off... Big mistake. The lot was mostly empty... Except for the 200 school busses!!! Everything was packed and I've been to Kings Island so many times I can't really enjoy it when it's packed. It's hard to wait 45 minutes for something that you've already rode 450 times in 2 years! So this time we had our vacation booked for the 16th and 17th and i had a sudden urge to check the event calendar and wouldn't ya know it? A 3 day nascar festival was on the dates we are going! So I changed the reservations to the 14th and 15th. Either way I should still have a great time. I haven't been to Cedar Point 1,527 times in the past 4 years like Kings Island in fact it's only my 3rd trip in 16 years so ill enjoy the rides wait or not. I have an android smart phone too so I won't be bored waiting Angry birds ftw! Also staying at Castaway bay so I'll go enjoy the water park if i get too sick of waiting in line or if it rains too much
  21. School hasn't started yet? I live in indy and it started last week. There is rain in the forecast I'm hoping that keeps crowds down.
  22. Just curious if i should expect a mosh pit or short wait times and walk ons the next 2 days. I went 2 days last year in late July and it was decent one day and packed the second. I based my vacation for August this year because someone had a trip report from August last year in which he was able to walk on Maverick and top thrill dragster with no wait. Originally I was going Tuesday and Wednesday but since my one and only trip to Kings Island this year happen to fall on math and science day, I checked the event calendar and some nascar festival is going on. So no events, and 2 days in August that are work days, I'm really hoping for less traffic! Anyone got any insight?
  23. Well Flight of Fear was nearly a walk-on... obviously being indoors, the experience is the same day or night regardless, but when you see an awesome coaster that normally has at least a 30 min wait with no line, you gotta hop on it. Ok so it did have a little bit of a wait, but still the line stopped inside the UFO, so it was like 5-10 minute wait. Yeah I thought about AE and how it might be kinda cool. But yeah The Beast was so awesome in the dark, I think i enjoyed it more than even Diamondback in the dark! As for the busyness yeah it was a bit busier than I'd like. I went in Oct '05, however I went during non-haunt hours, and the park was literally dead, and everything was a walk-on. I was kinda hoping for the same, but all things considered it would still be considered not busy, since most rides had a less than 15 minute wait. well from a rider's standpoint... however the mazes were pretty packed and there was no getting near them. We had planned originally to ride more, and keep it going till 1, but I had to work today, and my wife was feeling sick from the fog effects, so we took off early. Oh well I will be back soon!
  24. So last night me and my wife headed up to Kings Island to check out the haunt. We got there at around 7:45, and left around 11:30. Honestly I was really really impressed! We didn't do any haunted mazes, we mainly just rode rides and checked out the park, but I think I'm going to go back because i had a blast, and honestly it was a totally different experience. As far as rides go, it went like this: Diamondback, Beast, Vortex, Flight of Fear, Racer, and Delirium. Diamondback and Beast are downright amazing at night! Some observations: *The tombstone that says "my beloved son" by The Beast. A reference to Son of Beast perhaps? *Didn't get the Gigantic Enterprise model that was laying in the grass by the Eiffel Tower... Something they had in storage from the Paramount days? Didn't really make sense nor fit the themeing *Coney Mall was creepy... the music they played, and ride parts lying in the grass, the gigantic jack-in-the-box by the aracade, etc made it feel like it was an abandoned amusement park... pretty cool though. *I noticed they were playing some hard rock in Action Zone. While I was riding Delirium I heard "Ticks & Leeches" by Tool. Also heard "Vampires" by Godsmack later on. This is my kinda music so I was all about it! *The Beast is friggen AWESOME at night! I probably haven't ridden it at night since i was a little kid. The high speed, sudden dips, tunnels, and pure pitch blackness really made it a LOT more intense than I'm used to! *Diamondback was pretty awesome at night too. Very dark. Honestly the haunt's worth checking out alone just to get a chance on some of these rides at night! Overall I was there for a short time and drove back the same night, but I had a blast and I will def. be coming back soon, to hit up those mazes! My brother really wants to go so I figure I'll take him out there.
  25. I miss the Paramount era myself. Like others have said I miss KI being the flagship park, and I miss the movie theming and movie music. Why is the water shut off in tower gardes btw? Does Cedar Fair prefer the park to just be ugly and themeless? Sometimes it seems that way. I myself wasn't aware of the CBS acquisition until I joined this site, but it does sound like they were crappy owners.
