I honestly never know where you are going with your posts. Rode one rode em all. Now that Diamondback is here gives you the right to complain. With sounding like the azz I usually am I shall say this: If you are so miserable with KI why do you go. Are you one of those people who will ***** and moan until they get a new ride then turn around a year later and complain cause they need something new? Why do you even go to the park? Is it the parks responsibility to keep you happy and keep you in the rides you want to ride? The answer is no. One minute you like a ride the next you hate it then like it ok once more. Do I like all the rides at KI? Um that is a big fat NO, however I am happy I have the chance to go and ride what they do have. I never count on certain type rides to be built. Sounds to me you would be happier at another park. I do not want you to think I am bashing you on your likes and dislikes cause I am not. Just do not understand your reasoning. It's too expensive and too far to drive to Chicago, St. Louis, or Sandusky. Kings Island is only a 2 hour drive... heck when the Colts play the Bengals the comentators always gotta mention "only 130 miles seperates these 2 teams". Look To be fair, I was determined to win the argument. When I get that way I say things I don't mean. I'm trying to make peace with all you guys and I'm still being ripped on. WTF?

OMG did anyone even see me say "with the exception of The Beast and Son of Beast?" Because I Did. I said it somewhere. I said I loved those 2 coasters because they broke the rules..."granted Son of Beast broke too many rules which is why its SBNO". The funny thing is most people are using The Beast and Son of Beast to try and prove me wrong when I said from my very first post I liked those 2 woodies because they WERE different!

I feel bad for ripping on KI's coaster lineup. It is true they do have a very nice one, and 3 years ago, they didn't have Diamondback, and I had nothing to complain about. I've just rode all the same coaster's too many times. Yeah there are a few I don't care for such as Firehawk, which isn't worth the long wait it usually has, and Invertigo, that always makes me sick. I enjoy the rest. I didn't like Adventure Express much until I rode cedar crap mine ride. Also I didn't care much for Flight Deck until I rode Iron Dragon.... def in those 2 coaster categories we have much better versions than Cedar Point! I do think the park has felt like its been missing something since SOB closed last year, since I always hit that one up 3 to 4 times a visit.
-
Its cool I respect your opinion. I know there are many who love wooden coaster's on this site, I'm just more of a steel coaster guy, always have been. And yes I have been to the park too many times... 11 times since 2007, a couple that were multi-day trips! Of course at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what we want, Cedar Fair will build whatever they feel the park needs the most when it comes time for a new coaster.

I got carried away and I apologize. I actually love Flight of Fear and its one of my favorite rides there... I just hate the wait for it some days... not all lines move like Vortex or Diamondback. Maybe its not rinky dink, its just indoors, and all indoor coasters are somewhat small since they gotta fit inside a building. And I don't hate woodies It just seems that you got "The Beast" and then you have... all the rest. So I do remember American Eagle being awesome at SFGAm because it was like a racer on steroids but I've been to Kentucky Kingdom 3 times and the first of those 3 times I rode all the coasters in the park... I remember Chang and T2, but I cant' for the life of me tell you what the wooden coaster was, whatever it was it didn't leave much of an impression on me. Getting back on Topic, I just don't see how we need another woodie. At one point we had 3, and we may have 3 again if they reopen SOB, but I def think in the coaster dept Kings Island needs some more steel coasters before they need another woodie.
-
I just wish someone could tell me whats so appealing about a new wooden coaster? What could it offer us that The Beast and Racer don't already offer?
-
I love Diamondback. And I really don't hate Kings Island nor its 10 "adult" coasters. But I'm getting sick of the "wooden coaster militia" coming in here and demanding we need a woodie to be our next coaster. My only point I'm trying to make is there are def other coasters needed before we get another woodie! Maybe its cuz I go all the time but the coaster lineup is starting to seem rather "meh". And as for LLC thats fine, because you never have anything good to add anyway!

Man I just want more major steel coaster's. It ridiculous that KI waited till 2009 to get its first B&M. And its even more ridiculous that if I want a good B&M invert I have to drive to Sandusky or Chicago. And its even more ridiculous that their isn't a Floor-less or dive machine even near me... I have to hop on a flight to even get near one!
-
I don't really hate any of the coasters to be honest. They don't have to be big to be awesome. But the point is KI has not built enough big ones.

Well what can you do with Wood to make it drastically different? Wood can't be bent like steel can. Steel is more versatile. The Beast is unique, but other than that, hill airtime, hill, airtime, hill, airtime BRAKE RUN! Yeah at one point in time wood was all they had. Now that they can make coasters out of steel why even bother making a wood coaster? Heck you could design a steel coaster with the same layout as a wood coaster and make it taller, faster, and smoother... oh wait they did that already see Diamondback. And yes I do consider Firehawk a rinky dink coaster. It's a tiny little flying coaster hidden by Racer, which isn't that big but looks GIGANTIC compared to Firehawk! And yes as much as I like Flight of Fear, its rinky dink. And it takes too long to get on that thing usually for the short ride it has to offer in the end. The ride's low capacity and that stupid video sucks "OMG ALIENS NOOO ITS 1996 AGAIN! AHHH" I'd rather take a bullet in the head than have to suffer through that video one more time. So anyway since Vortex: Adventure Express = rinky dink Top Gun = Rinky dink Flight of Fear = Rinky Dink Invertigo = rinky dink Son of Beast = BINGO! Itailian Job Stunt Track = Rinky Dink Firehawk = rinky dink Diamondback = BINGO! So yeah since Vortex only 2 major coaster's were built and one of those 2 is SBNO. IF we're going to get another woodie, they might as well just save money and renovate SOB. otherwise I want more major steel coasters!

Except I thought a "hyper" meant it was a steel coaster over 200 ft that has properties of wood coasters. I thought it meant it can't have any inversions, and it certainly canNOT be inverted!
-
GYK, you make good points about theming. Though CF has shown they can theme... I for one think TTD is themed very well, and if it weren't for the excellent theming, and "i'm in a dragster" feel of it, the ride wouldn't be as cool. But its one of the only cases I know of Cedar Fair doing such elaborate theming. But I wouldn't think it would be a big deal to have 2 B&M coaster's over 200ft. After all BGW has both Apollo's Chariot and Griffen!

I just want to know what can a woodie do that a steel can't? Jar the heck out of you? Yeah I know some our "smooth as glass" but if they are that smooth than what's the point? I thought the main thing that makes a woodie different from a steel hypercoaster such as DB is that a wooden coaster jars you... but than again people complain about Son of Beast beating you up. To be quite honest I want another woodie at Kings Island like I want a hole in my head. For years I've gawked at Dive machines, hypers, floor-less coasters, and inverts, and none of the above did we get until 2009. Now that we have Diamondback, it almost feels alone, surrounded by old coasters and rinky dinks. I think the park's last major steel coaster is the aging arrow mega-looper sitting across from it. The whole paramount era was littered with little rinky dink steel coasters, and instead of a B&M invert, we got a mini vekoma hang and bang. I can't tell you how mad I was when KI got Face Off. I had wanted an Invert for years, and I saw pictures of it and I thought "Finally, we have one. Then I get there and see that rinky dink thing and feel very ripped off! Quite frankly I've never rode a B&M version of The Vortex, a.k.a. "sitting coasters" such as Led Zepplin/Time Machine, or Kumba. I've never ridden a floor-less. I've never ridden a Dive machine. All these coasters I've had to watch video and look at pictures of, while KI installs a Premier rides family coaster. Seriously we need more steel! Someone mentioned a twisted Impulse... I'd like that honestly. After riding Wicked Twister I thought it was a much better experience than Invertigo, and I didn't get sick on it. I swear Invertigo always makes me sick. I'm find going through, but when I go back through, and as soon as I hit that loop, I'm feeling a bit sick to my stomach.
-
I really don't know what else B&M can offer us unless they give us a new prototype. I do truly believe a B&M invert is desperately needed for the park, as its something its been lacking for years! As for B&M's models, I think a Dive machine would be great for the park. I mean in the states there is one in Virginia, one in Florida. IT would be the first Dive Machine in the midwest and a big draw since there aren't many of them out there currently!
-
Whats wrong with B&M? I Think they make the finest steel coasters in the business. If we were to get a new coaster who would you rather have make it? And why does it have to be crazy and unique? Just like the aforementioned Vortex, there's little unique about it other than the track layout, but there still to this day are a million arrow mega loopers out there.

I'm not sure if anyone will take that title away from The Beast. Not that its impossible, its that no one seems to have an interest in building a wooden coaster that long. Anyway I gotta say it, though I was trying not to. Its like this: If you've rode one Woodie, you've rode them all. You can only do so much with wood. I kinda think wooden coasters are over-rated. That being said I love The Beast, and i loved the SOB...why? Because they are unique wooden coasters that break the rules...granted Son of Beast broke too many rules which is why it is currently SBNO. Its not that I don't like The Racer, because I do and its a staple to ride it every time. But you got your airtime woodie, and you got your long 4 1/2 minute ride in the woods with tunnels woodie... what else can a wooden coaster offer us? IF The Racer's Airtime thrills aren't enough, go ride Diamondback! To each his own, I understand, but for me I never quite got the hype with woodies and why people love them so much. I like steel, I like inversions, I like crazy gimmicks like hanging chairs, and floorless trains. I like tall lift hills, launches, and high speed. Again I don't hate wooden coasters, but still they are all one in the same. hill, airtime, hill, airtime, hill airtime....brake run. And on that note its why I'd much rather have a new modern steel coaster than a GCI woodie or the like.
-
Seems most people agree with me on Firehawk. It is a gimmick coaster. And the first time I rode it I thought it was one of the best coaster's I had ever ridden. But the more I Rode it, the less impressed I was with it. It moves slow, it's kinda rough, and a little uncomfortable, and the worst part is the wait is long even if the line's short. I really don't know whats up with the way the load and unload the trains... I don't quite understand the point of having a "dual loading station" if your going to load both trains at the same time, and then wait till both are in the station to re-load. Also the ride seems to have some reliability issues too, as every trip I've taken to KI its always down at some point. I think the ride's worth it if you can get on in under a half hour, but I won't wait an hour to ride it anymore. If the ride has even a decent wait for it I won't wait. And if they tear down Son of Beast, I'd rather not have a wooden coaster. I think personally Kings Island needs more modern steal coasters. They already have 2 great woodies (one thats considered the best wooden coaster in the nation by many enthusiasts), do they really need another one? I think the park is lacking in modern steal coasters, and they could use some more. I'd rather have a B&M invert, Dive or floor-less. Maybe an awesome Intamin Launch coaster.

I'd like a B&M dive, or a B&M Floorless, but I haven't seen signs pointing to either thing. What kind of signs do you speak of?

Which park would you rather have as your hometown amusment park?
Cormaster replied to BeastForever's topic in Kings Island
I loved Cedar Point and I honestly say I liked it better than Kings Island. That being said I went for 2 days in July and it was my first time since '95, and only my second visit to the park. Since 2007 I've been to Kings Island 11 times now, and many trips were multi-day visits. Also I had gone many times before my first trip of '07, dating all the way back to 1989, CP I've only been twice. If I lived next to Cedar Point, I'd probably be just as tired of it as I am of Kings Island, so I'm going to just say that I'm happy with KI as my home park. And I used to complain about there not being a local park near Indy, but now I'm kind of glad there isn't because its roughly a 2 hour drive to KI right now... if I lived close enough I could go there on a weekly, or even a daily basis I couldn't IMAGINE how tired I'd get of the park! -
OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
Cormaster replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I never made it to the Eiffel Tower today. I planned to go up and check it out. I did try and look at the area while on AE, Flight Deck, and Racer, but saw nothing of any interest. -
It's kinda bittersweet to me. Seeing Son of Beast in it's full glory kinda brings a tear to my eye, as it was at one point my favorite coaster in the park, now it is loopless and not even operating. I miss Tomb Raider the Ride dearly, the Crypt is terrible. I rode it once in '08 and haven't gone near it since. I'd like to see them make some repairs to BLSC at some point and get it up to the shape it's in in this video...what happend to the splashdown anyway? Alot has changed. Some things for the better, some for the worse. We would of never gotten Diamondback under Paramount/CBS, in fact we would of lost Flight of Fear. But to some extent I do miss "paramount's" Kings Island, mainly the theming, the movie music, and better names for the rides.

Why is it every time someone says "Stratosaur" I'm picturing a T-Rex built out of pieces of Top Thrill dragster?

CBS Early Morning 5 best coasters in US
Cormaster replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I keep laughing at the "inverts elements" thing. What does that mean? Does it mean anything, or does it just sound cool to someone who doesn't know anything about roller coasters? All day at the park today I kept saying "theres Diamondback, the coaster that invert's elements!" -
Yeah I actually noticed the last time I was there. It seems faster and more intense... I'm loving it! Makes me wonder if it had been ailing for a while. Whatever they did to fix it, it seems to be running great now!
