wow I'm kinda liking the idea seeing those pictures, and warming up to it with the SOB... like I said earlier yes it would be stupid for them to spend even another cent on it. But it depends on how you look at it... are they spending money to make Son of Beast better, or are they renovating it to the extent its almost a new coaster, and thus a new name comes with it too? -
woa woa woa wait... Independence day was released on July 2nd, 1996... 17 years after The Beast opened. Also the park was owned by Paramount at that time, and if I recall, it was a 20th century fox movie. So how is independence day music used on The Beast?

So since that area is going to have some more attention for 2011, how about a little love for Action FX theatre for 2011? New film? Plllleeeeaaasssseeeee?

I like that idea. How about some new vekoma trains for The Vortex too? I know I might be dreaming, but Vekoma does make new modern trains for old Arrow custom looping coasters!

Man if it does re-open, I just can't see why I'd wanna go there. Its the same park, with one less coaster now, and not just any coaster, there BEST coaster! -

Yeah I agree the park was really lacking. That was really my problem with it. I went in 1998, it was something new and refreshing since I usually went to Kings Island. But the next trip I went and a ocuple of the rides were broke down, when they didn't have many to begin with. Then as the years went by rides were removed, but nothing was added. The last thing they added was what an ancient shuttle coaster with a new coat of paint and name? When was that, 2004 or something? 6 years with no new editions! Its one thing for say KI or Cedar Point to go a bit without any major additions, since they are well established parks. But at the point of time when KK stopped expanding, the park was still rather small, and pretty much the main reason I stopped going because everytime I went, it was the exact same park, with nothing new, maybe a few less rides! -

Could it be some secret government organization that has chosen to use the abandoned queue of Son of Beast as their base? -

I really wouldn't take much into account with "officials" or important looking people there. I'm sure somewhere in the company Son of Beast is being discussed, but not among anyone who deals with the public. In otherwords, just because people are looking at it, doesn't mean anything is going to be announced about its future, nor its use as a haunt attraction. I highly doubt they'd use anything from a coaster they pretend doesn't even exist as a haunt attraction. -

I'll be honest I love Bear Track Landing at the GWL. Why? Because its private, and I can ride the slides hundreds of time with little to no wait. However I am finding from my last trip to Boomerang bay I HATE public water parks? Why? Well why in gods name do I wanna wait an hour to get on a slide that lasts all of 3 seconds? To me you go to the water park to cool off, yet you find yourself standing in line and baking in the son for an hour, only to ride a 3 second (if that) slide. By the time you get to the slide the water's freezing cold because your body is no longer used to the water. And unlike the actual park, its hard to judge, if ever, when the waterpark is dead. IF you go to the park on a rainey day, most likely the waterpark will be closed because of the chance of thunder. IF you go on a hot day, well the waterpark will be packed because it's hot. If you go towards the end of regular season, you know its going to be packed because they are closing it soon, not the rest of the park. Typically when I go to boomerang bay, I just hit up the lazy river and wave pool. Its wet and I know I can hop right in without standing in the son for an hour! -

me personally I think its stupid to try and resurrect it as a waterpark... I mean how far away is holiday world, you know the world's 2nd best. IF Ed Hart thinks he's going to take on Splashin Safari with Kentucky Kingdom, then I want he's smoking because those are some good drugs! -
One thing they need to tweak a bit is the ability to upgrade... why is it that this year for instance even though I initially purchased my passes on-line, I have to actually go to the park to upgrade to platinum passes? This kinda sucked for me as far as Cedar Point went. I really did want the ERT, and the 2 day passes I bought were only a savings of $10 as opposed to upgrading...however I simply just didn't make it out to Kings Island, and it's NOT on the way to Cedar Point, and the gas just wasn't worth it! Seriously its the on-line age... why can't i just upgrade on-line?

wow I was gonna say... it sounded like me who doesn't plan on renewing will not be able to visit Halloween Haunt, in which we are planning a trip out currently to do so.

LOL he kinda disregarded. Seems he was implying "yeah its a failure". -
Yeah I know that Kings Island decided to use the 3rd train for parts, and I Figured the 3rd train was pretty much included as a spare. The way the Coaster is designed it seems like its designed to use 2 trains. To me if its going to stack then what's the point? When Trains are stacking, you have too many trains period.

See I could totally see them doing that to some extent. ON one hand yes nearly 40 million has already been spent on trying to modify the Son of Beast to make it more enjoyable, and thus far to the GP it still sucks, and its ridiculous to even imagine Kings Island spending even another cent on trying to make it a good coaster! ON the other hand what it has NOT had was a massive renovation, one so extent its basically a new coaster when it's done. YOu could look at it as "more money being thrown at Son of Beast" or just simply "Money being spent on a new coaster"! I've brought up steel phantom and it's kind of the same thing. By the time they were done renovating it, it was a new coaster! Texas Giant, the same thing. Son of Beast after '06? IT was the same coaster with different trains, and -1 inversion. I'm not sure about the "iron horse" but me personally I think the thing could work without the "Rosebowl" section. If they could remove that whole section and replace it with maybe some bunny hops, or airtime hills, I think it would help immensely! I do think just to say "hey its not Son of Beast, and we didn't just spend so many million more on fixing Son of Beast" a new name is in order. I think if they do the renovation to the GP it should be regarded completly as a new coaster and they should just stay away completly from any name that make's refference to the classic woody in the rivertown section of the park! -
Did Firehawk ever have 3 trains running (as X-flight of course)? I just don't see how that would work with the dual loading station. IT seems it would be a stacking nightmare!

^I guess I deserve that. But nah I guess I wouldn't mind a new wooden coaster for '12. A new modern woodie in the SOB's spot would be cool. I agree it would have nothing to do with The Beast other than the structure being built out of wood. -
I hear yah. And thats what I'm talking about really. Basically its like this. Both trains are in the station, both trains are loaded. They launch the REd Train, then they wait till the Red Train's in the brake run, and launch the Yellow Train. While the Yellow Train is out they will unload the red train but they will NOT reload the red train until the yellow train is back in the station. I've asked it a million times. Why do they load it this way? Its like Kings Island never learned how to load the thing! Seriouly if they wanna wait for the brake run to launch the next one thats fine, but IMO there should ALWAYS be a train ready to go! As soon as one hits the brake run, the other one should be launched and heading up the lift hill. The way they do it now quite frankly is just stupid and pointless. The thing that sucks on Firehawk is you usually gotta wait at least a half hour to ride it... on a day when the park is totally dead. And its not out of popularity not at all... no usually the line isn't even that long, like lanes of the queue being full, and you'll be waiting a half hour!

YEah I hear yah. If they take it out hopefully the put a good coaster in its place... maybe perhaps an Intamin prefab woodie... they could call it "GrandSon of Beast" lol. -
I've had a message for the past 24 hours I can't check. Everytime I click on messenger I get this error: Anyone else having any problems with this? Won't work on Mozilla FIrefox, or Opera Mini on my cell phone. Haven't tried IE.

WOW it was dead when you went! I am honestly jealous! Just like you my first trip since 1995 happened in July, and yeah I waited about an hour to ride Maverick, an hour 1/2 to ride Millie, and an hour to ride TTD! The rest of the waits weren't bad. I need to go back in August next year. So how come you skipped out on Millie and Blue Streak? BTW I agree with you on Top Thrill Dragster. The best way to describe the coaster is "its kind of like 17 seconds of living an action scene from an 80's action movie".
-
Well I guess people actually did like the ride. But I mean I rode the ride when I was like 13 years old...at the time I was a LOT more forgiving on thrill rides than I am now (I loved AE back then for instance). I rode Flight Commander and I was just completly unimpressed. To be fair some have stated the ride had been heavily modified after the incident, and this was 1994, so yeah it was after the modifications. As for the "if it was such a good ride why'd they tear it down" it was just a joke anyway. I know plenty of good rides were torn down for newer attractions. That was what I said that would rile people up in the thread.

people should totally give the glasses back... but you know this world's not perfect, you gotta expect there are going to be a lot of kids and teenagers that steal the glasses just because they can. I did that sorta stuff when I was a teen, don't even know why. Nowadays even when I go to the theatre and see a new movie in 3D I return the glasses...what am I going to do with them if I keep them?
