  1. I recall during several of my visits this past season that the Diamondback crew would ask guests to board within 45 seconds. The tone they used over the loudspeaker was as if they were angry at guests. When they did attempt to up the capacity numbers, they did so at the expense of guests' comfort. There's a way to do it right, it just didn't happen this season, at least from what I saw.
  2. From my observations, the seat belts weren't to blame for Diamondback losing riding numbers. It was the spiels and plain lackadaisical attitude of the crew. There were times they sat for 10's of seconds without doing anything. The check probably wouldn't take any longer than how Banshee does it. Granted, Diamondback has more rows and longer trains to get to, but it shouldn't be down the numbers we're seeing.
  3. Stay away from the neighborhoods surrounding UC as well (Clifton). If you go on the west side, stay out of Price Hill. Also avoid Norwood.
  4. Then why aren't all the rides from this list on there? Not to mention the rest of the world. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30415-rides-and-slides-2015/ Just asking for a little consistency here.
  5. Wait...if this is supposed to be a SIX/FUN-esque thread, then why is Thunderbird shoehorned in there?
  6. Well, you have to understand that for people in the greater Cincinnati area, even a snow dusting means the end of the world and people stock up on bread and milk. I wish I were kidding.
  7. ^Well, in this case, yes, if you view it from a certain context. KICentral gets loads of hits from people looking up Kings Island news. Linking to the original source ensures that the information isn't being made up by KICentral members. Other people could come on here and mistake news from being originated from here instead of the park. Just because news has an obvious source doesn't mean you shouldn't post the link. Trust me, I get your sarcastic remark. I thought a lot like that at first. But this site has certain obligations to the park, therefore, KICentral and its members benefit a lot from it, and so does the park.
  8. I rather like the idea of off season tours. One thing I would love to do is get to be in the park and see it after it snows. It'd be a photographer's paradise.
  9. Considering there wouldn't be much to do and the driving distance in what is likely to be adverse driving conditions, I'd give a resounding no.
  10. Could someone list off a few specific songs that were played at Playlist Live! this year so I have a good idea what kind of material to use for an audition?
  11. If I seem to be asking redundant questions on this, its because I'm being thorough. I hope to get something together by then to audition.
  12. Is the information on the Kings Island website correct that they'll also be holding auditions next weekend as well (November 14-16)? https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/things-to-do/events-and-promotions/Kings-Island-Auditions
  13. I think Soak City could use another slide tower complex to help disperse the lines from the other slides.
  14. You could also make the argument that the park would also be competing against college basketball and minor league hockey around here as well, and there's plenty of interest in those events, plus they're indoors. I agree a lot with Terpy's and goodyellowkorn182's assessments, its not coming back anytime soon.
  15. Maybe they'll use TombRaiderFTW's handy dandy Firehawk instruction manual. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/21765-random-photo-of-the-day/page-177#entry589419 silve2005, cross-threading.
  16. The only change in the theming was in the queue video. There was a mention of the words Outer Limits at the end of the video before the UFO warped away. It was edited out when the Outer Limits portion was dropped from the name.
  17. When it opened, it had really uncomfortable overhead restraints instead of the lap bars, which weren't put in place until 2001. It also opened with 6 car trains, but later dropped to 5 cars. And what do you mean by ours not being the original? Kings Island's and Kings Dominion's were the first LIM launch coasters ever, including the original for the layout.
  18. I spy a KIC member in the 2 millionth Banshee rider photo. Photo courtesy of Kings Island's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/visitkingsisland/photos/a.226729858367.174830.155893938367/10153249822628368/?type=1 EDIT: I spot 2 KIC members.
  19. I think I enjoyed finally conquering Xtreme Skyflyer over Banshee. Banshee is one of my favorite rides, but its, at the very least, similar to other rides I've done before. I knew a little bit of what to expect. With Skyflyer, it was radically different than what I'm used to in drop rides. I feel significantly safer on rides like Drop Tower since there are fail safes in place, like a giant magnet at the bottom should it fall early plus you have the restraints. Skyflyer is just so open and all you have on is that vest. That's a reason I really enjoy riding water slides, you have nothing to ride in and secure yourself to. All Skyflyer has is that harness and the really long chord on which you swing from.
  20. ^Oh wow, you and I inadvertently rode in the same train then.
  21. Repave the parking lot and for next year, make the crews more consistent across the park instead of having only a few of the newer and/or more popular rides get the 'good' crews.
  22. Well, I finally found the imposter noodle at PBS. Its kind of hidden from the main gates at PBS, on the street corner across from the practice field. I would like to officially name said noodle- #JonathanImpasta
  23. If I had to guess, my top rides for this would be Racer, Banshee, Beast, Vortex and Diamondback. In that order.
  24. I believe the current wait time now for all attractions is 6 months, barring unforeseen events. Welcome to the off-season.
  25. I believe this song perfectly fits the end of a given amusement park season. So, I encourage you to sit back, relax, take some deep breaths, remember fondly the season that has just transpired, and let the music do the rest. Claude Debussy's Clair de Lune Also, a big thanks is in order to Cedar Fair and Kings Island. This was an awesome season!
