  1. So the empty station in Action Zone and the big Son of Beast tombstone won't tip people off? If people have heard of it, then they would have looked it up on the internet (look how many people carry Smart Phones) and found the slew of articles and the video KI posted of the ride being demolished, possibly even the Banshee announcement video where its seen being destroyed. I would argue that the Internet would make people more aware that Son of Beast is no more and would know a new wood coaster (which would likely have no mention of the word Beast in its name) is not Son of Beast. EDIT: And if they go with GCI (the most likely candidate), they can bring up that company's reputation. They have a number or awards for all their coasters. EDIT 2- The first few listings under a Google search come up with links to SOB closing/demolition stories.
  2. I've been comparing Banshee's station with other B&M inverted coaster stations, and there is plenty of room to put in a rail for a front line queue. With the way the station is run to accommodate Fast Lane, it wouldn't lead to major congestion issues.
  3. I fail to see how building a coaster that launches to 62 mph, is 150 ft tall, is one of the more abstract looking rides and even has been designed to handle an extra car for better capacity isn't a major coaster. A smaller family coaster- perhaps, but not this. Heck, Verbolten can be labeled as a smaller ride, yet they let people know well before February that it was being added.
  4. I completely disagree for a multitude of reasons. First, with Son of Beast's notoriety, people knew what it looked like, where it was located and what's sitting there now. Unless a new wooden coaster uses SOB's old station and is of similar size, I don't see any confusion occurring. There's a nice big tombstone for SOB in Banshee's queue for good measure. Secondly, the park has the coaster that restarted America's love of coasters along with one of the most praised wooden coasters in the world. I think they would be okay getting another with the reputation they have with those. Thirdly, there are enough new things you can do with a wooden coaster which would easily distinguish it from Son of Beast- articulated trains, 90 degree banked curves, station fly-through's, etc.
  5. He still plans on opening Twisted Twins on the budget he has? That notion is laughable.
  6. I don't get why people make stuff like that. Its pretty much anti-joy.
  7. So there is some truth to this rumor that Thunder Road is near its end? I'm just catching wind of it myself. I know the park has been re-tracking it, but I heard it was starting to get better...
  8. I feel whoever designed Banshee's station was foreign to the concept that coasters, particularly inverted coasters, get long lines for the front seat. The station seriously needs the extended front seat line like Diamondback has. That and since its 4 across, that line isn't as long as it looks.
  9. The more I think about a GCI going to KD, the more it makes sense. That's what I'm gonna lean towards.
  10. I'm game for some predictions. If B&M (though I'm kind of doubting the exclusivity rights rumor)- I don't see them getting a hyper coaster as it would be a bit odd to advertise with I305 already on the property. I could actually see them getting an inverted coaster since a B&M would do things that Volcano doesn't and has much better capacity (something KD could use). Either a flyer or wing coaster would be ideal as it would be something fairly unique to the area. If the Hurler rumor turns to be true, why not a GCI? That'd be something they could hold over BGW, having a woodie worthy of decent attention, go a bit old school. I could also see KD adding to a fairly nice selection of family coasters with a Mack or something of similar scale. They've already dealt with Mack twice in the past. This idea is going to come out of left field, but I can almost see a Eurofighter working out.
  11. This is precisely the reason I'm not buying a meal plan. As someone who may have to change their dinner plans in a split second, I can see many scenarios where I would be SOL if what I want isn't on the meal plan. I need that flexibility.
  12. Additionally with Backlot, the next train can't pull up to the loading station until the train in front of it clears the helix.
  13. I just saw something hilarious about their Facebook page. When you go to search for it, it pops up with labels. Along with the amusement park label, it labels itself as a 'landmark'. Ed Hart's ego is leaking across the Ohio River again.
  14. Considering their main competition is from the Mouse, that would be insanely stupid on their part to not keep adding new things. Just wait and see when Disney starts playing with their 2 newest franchises at their parks.
  15. As far as food suggestions go, there are a few things to consider. First off, avoid the pizza. Its not very good. I wish LaRosa's would exert some quality control towards Kings Island because it pales in comparison to the actual pizza you'd get from a restaurant or even at a Reds game. If you're going for a Cincinnati food- Skyline is the place. Cheese coneys and 3/4 ways (chili on spaghetti with cheese, and you can add onions). The Reds Hall of Fame and Grille has Montgomery Inn food, another Cincinnati based restaurant. Very good food and very fairly priced. Panda Express in the Festhaus is decent as well. If you're going for something more traditional, there is Chicken Shack which has great chicken selections. Juke Box has semi-decent burgers. I've never eaten there, but I hear good things about Hanks Burrito Shack. If you want some big fries, I suggest going to the Rivertown Potato Works (the Coney location pales in comparison IMO). There is also Snake Pit near Diamondback which has Philly cheese steaks and turkey legs. There is a new funnel cake shop at the end of I-Street by Grand Carousel, the area's largest Starbucks, and a new yogurt shop also on I-Street. A famous desert item from the park is the blue ice cream, located at several locations, most notably the store in Planet Snoopy. Graeter's is an excellent choice as well.
  16. Another great way to scout lines is to head up the Eiffel Tower. You can see most of the lines from up there.
  17. I do the same thing Tb, just not for quite that long.
  18. This talk is the reason I have a beef with the Diamondback crew. There is no consistency throughout the park in terms of ride crews. Why is Diamondback (a B&M with near the capacity of Banshee and has the luxury of a MCBR to help trains dispatch quicker) lucky to hit half of its capacity per hour while Banshee is, at the very least and with no MCBR, on par? Will we see Diamondback-esque line movement with Banshee when KI gets their next coaster? Vortex has also started to be that way in the last few years, they triple stack a lot as well, never an issue under Paramount. Its like running coasters with 3 trains is a lost art at Kings Island.
  19. ^I imagine so. silver2005, pulling a Terpy.
  20. I hate how the Banshee crew treats guests during power hours. They are rude, they breath down your neck (at times, literally), and lack any semblance of empathy. Banshee crew- quit trying to hit capacity numbers all the time! Maybe KI can take a few of Banshee's crew and put them on Diamondback...
  21. I've been to several coaster fan sites as well as anything else KK related and there is absolutely nothing yet concerning the whereabouts of T3's trains. I seem to recall Vekoma having quite a hard time installing new trains on Goliath at SFNE... Have you ever gone to an exotic car dealership and looked at a new Ferrari? When you left, did you go on Facebook or fan sites saying you did so? Why not? Its better to not talk about something, you cannot afford to own. Well I imagine they have some sort of plan. They wouldn't be boasting of a May 30th opening of T3 if ^that is the case. I suspect it will be concerning the future of Twisted Twins though.
  22. Not at the park today. Finishing a MCU marathon before I see Avengers tomorrow night after a visit to Putz's.
  23. What new spore of madness has been unleashed this time?!
  24. I wouldn't necessarily say Maverick 'emphisizes' air time (or really anything for that matter). I think its more an amalgamation of things that combine for a unique coaster.
