This all the while the park maintains an online price of $39.95, $49.95 at the gate. I kind of wish I were able and willing to go for media day with the possibility of no T3 just to see how its pitched by the park and how that is interpreted by the media. Then go on the 30th to see the GP's reaction.

Luckily, my phase of having to carry a bag for my medical issues ended just before the lockers became a big time thing at Kings Island. The 3 rides I needed lockers for (at the time) were WindSeeker (before it had bins but that didn't last long), Firehawk and Flight of Fear, so I adjusted my day to ride those 3 at the same time so I only needed to use a locker once. I had everything I needed in plastic bags in the main bag so I could carry it on WWC. I wouldn't say I felt frustrated by doing that. I taught myself to be very patient about what I was going through and I knew it came with my decision to still go to Kings Island with those issues. It was a very big deal for me to start deciding not to bring a bag. I now only take one when I visit Soak City. However, since Banshee requires their use, I'd probably be a bit peeved at that. Its one of my favorite coasters and I usually try to get on it 3-4 separate times each visit since I can't stand more than 2-3 rides in a row on it at a time. That would be a big hassle if I still found use for a bag.

Part of me is sort of thinking (though its a big stretch) that KK is just really cutting it close on testing T3 in their hopes of opening it on 5/30, but another part of me believes we're going to see the park in a bind that day when (in all likelihood) it won't open despite their boasts. Have some popcorn ready people.

Ed Hart said he wouldn't be advertising in Cincinnati in one of the articles Terpy posted, reasoning that he didn't feel great tip toeing into KI's primary market. I doubt you'll see ads in the greater Cincinnati area (possibly including northern KY and SE Indiana).

New Skywheel at Newport on the Levee?
silver2005 replied to Hoeter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
After seeing this next phase of construction, I would hope that the rest of Newport is improved to accommodate the traffic flow these new things will spur. During afternoon rush hours and on busy Friday or Saturday nights, its pretty congested as is. The first exit coming off of I-471 is always backed up as it is. There are things begin built in southern areas of Newport as well. Grand Avenue is getting pretty bad as well with all that work there. Despite that though, its still pretty exciting what's going on in Newport. When the Banks get finished, it should be a really nice riverfront to spend time on. EDIT: I would like to add that if any work is done to improve infrastructure, it should be done to accommodate the historic aspects of Newport as well. I'd hate to see a lot of those buildings go. I'm afraid about all of the stuff going on in Clifton for that reason. They are tearing down buildings up by UC. -
New Skywheel at Newport on the Levee?
silver2005 replied to Hoeter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It'll take a little getting used to for me seeing this giant Ferris wheel in Kentucky, but overall, I'm all for this. It'll give me something to do when I show up early for a movie. Kind of compliments the carousel that's on the other side of the Ohio River. -
Actually, I'm already seeing ads for the Kentucky election airing on TV here in Cincinnati and all have alluded to misspending by the current regime. I have a feeling KK will be a key part of those arguments. EDIT: Spelling error.

I had a liking to NJFTP's Great American Scream Machine. I didn't find it as bad as most people would have me believe.

Scrambler could use a little TLC as well.

If KK never intended to open on the dates that they said to check back for, why put them on the calendar in the first place? Their FB posts are littered with confused guests. Also, why are they having companies renting out the park in mid-May? They're squandering what little demand they have. To KK- Running an amusement park- you're doing it wrong.
-
Also, I usually see a pretty healthy amount of people back there, even in recent years once the summer picks up around June or so. It still gets some decent attention.
-
The first few years it was worth it to the park. I heard they were taking in 5 figures a day.

Well, don't most people use a credit card when purchasing tickets? Isn't there zip code info pertaining to those?

What about the other Apocalypse?
-
^Given what I timed them on opening day, that might not be far from the truth, though they were slightly better a few weeks ago.

Firehawk in general needs a repaint. The supports look like the color of primer.

From the article. Something tells me KK is woefully under that mark.

Also note the title of this thread. I firmly believe KI will get a wood coaster before a giga. Canada's Wonderland built one and their within that former radius of parks that couldn't get a B&M, but they also have a country boarder there (I would guess less people visit both CW and CP in the same seasons than CP and KI). With CP being so close, I say KI will be lucky to see a giga at all.
-
I don't think there are as many people like that as you are leading me to believe, at least not at the rate where KI will never get a wooden coaster again. I consider that a very small percentage of KI's guests. Also, what of the people (which, there are quite a few) who miss SOB? I think the GP would be more open to the idea than what you're claiming. Every park has rumors like that to contend with.

So the empty station in Action Zone and the big Son of Beast tombstone won't tip people off? If people have heard of it, then they would have looked it up on the internet (look how many people carry Smart Phones) and found the slew of articles and the video KI posted of the ride being demolished, possibly even the Banshee announcement video where its seen being destroyed. I would argue that the Internet would make people more aware that Son of Beast is no more and would know a new wood coaster (which would likely have no mention of the word Beast in its name) is not Son of Beast. EDIT: And if they go with GCI (the most likely candidate), they can bring up that company's reputation. They have a number or awards for all their coasters. EDIT 2- The first few listings under a Google search come up with links to SOB closing/demolition stories.

So what's up with this "power hour" crap on Banshee last night?
silver2005 replied to Keysersoze's topic in Kings Island
I've been comparing Banshee's station with other B&M inverted coaster stations, and there is plenty of room to put in a rail for a front line queue. With the way the station is run to accommodate Fast Lane, it wouldn't lead to major congestion issues.
