I wish I would have ridden The Beast last night when that awesome full moon was out. It brings a solid white aura over the track.

Cedar Point 2016 Talk

^You mentioned before how the lift track is going to be steep. Unless CP is getting a 2nd giga (a la Fury 325), B&M only builds super steep lifts on dive coasters as well. -

I've been following how B&M labels their track at the plant for a while and I'm certain that the DM is for dive machine. They use letters for other combinations to verify type as well- LC- Laying/Flying coaster, IC- Inverted coaster, FC- Floorless, MC- Mega/hyper/giga. Here's the label for Baron at Efteling (picture courtesy of Screamscape). Labeled D6- D for dive machine and it is one of the 6 across models. Also, I can tell the brown track is dive machine track without the labels. They're very wide and thick. No other B&M type has track with that big of dimensions. I'm 99.99% certain its a dive coaster track unless B&M has cooked up another type under everyone's noses. EDIT: There is another way to tell with the way the cross ties look, but unfortunately, the brown track is upside down so I can't show that. -

I'm kind of hoping those blue supports don't go with that brown track because that is one ugly color combination if that's the case. -
^^Last I checked, Vortex still has a lot of people who like the ride as well. I've had quite a few rather smooth rides on it myself, including this season. Also, who said that it was hard to maintain and there were parts missing? S&S still puts out parts for Arrow coasters. There are also plenty of Arrow loopers older than Vortex still running including the original Arrow looper- Knott's Corkscrew now at Silverwood.

I will definitely start being more forward about wanting to sit solo after being paired with a few bigger people with no regard for my personal space on my last visit (exceptions- Firehawk, Banshee, Diamondback on the outer seats, maybe Backlot).
-
Just whatever one does, avoid cars 2 through 4 on Vortex. That way pain and madness lies.
-
I'd probably say either Bat or Adventure Express. One thing Bat has going for it is that its not a loud ride plus its not as jerky as Backlot or AE. I think that helped me get accustomed back in the day. Woodstock Express and Flying Aces would be fine starters as well.

I think instead of staying angry at it all the time, I might as well come to expect it and plan my days at KI accordingly. Its becoming a cycle of sorts. I had a blast today despite that though.

This is the one bad thing from my trip at KI on 7/25 (expect a rather unique TR on the good stuff), and its a doozy. At Diamondback today, the Fast Lane line ran down the stairs up to the station and started going up the stairs that got you to below the track. And what was their solution? Alternating FL and the regular line. That's right, they filled an entire train sans the front seat with Fast Laners, then filled the next with regular guests. Sort of defeats the purpose of having Fast Lane. Why is Diamondback the only ride with such atrocious line management issues? I know I come back to this, but its never fixed. I'm angry enough to the point I may stop using Fast Lane until the Diamondback crew gets their act together. I know it can be run with better efficiency than this. I remember 2009 through 2011 (2012-ish, that's when it started going down hill) well.

I think its fake. There's no room for a train shed in that design. Just sayin'. -
Not to mention that dueling trains on a single-track coaster requires running two trains at all times. I've read trip reports that have said Iron Colossus sometimes runs with a single train. Its not impossible.
-
Glad there is some advertising for the local area! It was just strange to me that I didn't see any billboards for Kentucky Kingdom, but did for the others. I've seen plenty of KI billboards in Cincinnati, so I thought I would see one for KK. Maybe they are in a different area of town than where I drove? Hart said in one of the interviews that he wouldn't poke into KI's market, Cincinnati included.

Baron only has cars that are 6 wide and thus doesn't need as wide of track. Keep in mind B&M can do 8 and 10 across. Just look at SheiKra's and Griffon's track. It matches the brown track.

Kings Island's Food Truck Festival

I'm going to have to bow out tomorrow. Had some major cramping issues at tonight's concert and some other health ailments are hitting me pretty hard. It was a good concert though. -
You guys must run into the darndest of predicaments because I've always been asked nicely if a group can fit in around me (when I'm a single rider) to accommodate their group.
-
When it comes to empty seats on coaster trains, I blame people who come in groups of 8 and 10 and they try to get EVERYONE on the same train, so they let a few go so they can be together. Now that's ANNOYING! What's so wrong about wanting to keep the group together? I have no problem with groups doing that.
-
I think that has pretty much been conveyed its either Dive or Wing track Sent from a signal coming out of the Vega system. Wing coaster track isn't nearly that wide and thick. Its more similar to B&M's non-dive machine models. The brown track in question looks to be precisely for a dive machine. I'm 99.999...% sure of it.
-
I've had that situation occur to me several times this season as well, though it has only occurred on Flight of Fear and Backlot. Sure, it happens on Firehawk and Banshee as well, but with those rides, that's a common practice.
-
The brown track appears (to me) that it might be dive machine track. It looks wider and thicker than the red track.

Hmm...since I will be going at it a bit slower Sunday, I think I may put together a PTR. I've been wanting a good photo session for a while. And, of course, I will be at one of the Off the Charts! shows as well. -
Best Cedar Point night ride?
silver2005 replied to thegajone's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Magnum by far. Being by the beach and having those pitch dark tunnels make it perfect to me. It also helps my first ride on her was at night as well. I make it a staple on every CP trip I make. -

I plan on showing up on Sunday. Gonna take it easy for that trip to savor the food. -
I like the fact they're cranking out 90's music in Coney Mall now. Instant nostalgia trigger for me. Twas the decade I grew to love the park. I think their music selection is fine. Its a decent mix of music while attending to their key demographics.
-
I really like Racer. Its the 2nd best air time coaster in the park IMO. There is no difference between red and blue. My only thing is they should bring back the chaser lights at night. And before you go on asking about other rides, I can probably go on about positive things about each ride. Just ride for yourself, only you know how your tastes in rides are.
