Vortex fireworks rides are highly underrated. With Vortex's intense layout, the inversions and speed, its an awesome bit of beautiful chaos.

Wasn't the launch site closer to where Firehawk is now and was moved because of Firehawk's location?
-
They have to do that. Rozzi's shoots the fireworks not even 100 yards from where the big guy roams (close to the covered brake run). They don't want to risk embers or debris hitting riders. They also have to check the track for said embers before clearing it to ride.

That certain CF park doesn't have to deal with as harsh of winters as Kings Island as well. -
You guys definitely lucked out on the weather this year compared to opening day for the previous few years.

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

If this were a giga, we'd be seeing way, way more clearing and footers by now. Diamondback and Banshee had clearing and footers on the ground by the 2008 and 2013 opening days respectively. -
Question- is there any sort of netting above the soccer game below Diamondback's carousel curve?

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

I think we need to dispense with the timing issue on whether this is a coaster or not. Its clear Ouimet runs the chain differently than Kinzel did, including with parks' future plans and how major attractions are added. With Kings Island being one of CF's top tier parks and with Kings Island being a park that tries new things (remember how the park was the first to utilize Dinosaurs Alive!, Fast Lane, and the meal plans?), they could be trying out new ways to incorporate rides into their future, including how they're spaced. Say what you want about how Holiday World is run, but with their addition of Thunderbird, Kings Island still has to keep on their toes. Though Kentucky Kingdom is slightly more under KI's radar than what they were during the Six Flags era, they do share enough of a market where Kings Island has to make a mark. Sure, the park has a fairly new Banshee under their belt and other things more in their favor, but they are still vying for customers from similar markets to HW and KK. I think a coaster for 2017, or anything equally surprising compared to what we're used to seeing from Kings Island would be perfectly warranted. See Kings Island's response to KK's build up in the late 90's. -

I would like to think if KI were to go for another dark ride, they'd use an already existing building instead of making another one, especially not building another one in the middle of Rivertown. -

If that's how they're treating season pass holders on preview night with food service, they're in major, major trouble tomorrow. -
Blue Ash Chili should seriously consider getting a billboard at each of the exits for Kings Mills. They have practically every food item KI has (sans pizza and Montgomery Inn) for cheaper prices and far, far better service.
-
How does the food department possibly have such lines on freaking preview night? That takes a concerted effort of trying to do nothing.

I remain astonished that any of the Skylines in the park have those long of lines considering how short it takes to make ways and coneys. -

How well is the new entrance marked on Kings Island Dr or the surrounding roads? -
Maintenance took a train off of Diamondback earlier, I think they just put it back on.

They could also utilize space on the other side of Diamondback or some of the space beyond the train sheds if they get ambitious. Otherwise, a decent size coaster or flume could fit back there (not B&M scale, but a GCI or Mack wouldn't be out of the question). I don't know if KI would be too ambitious with this, but It could also be a collection of smaller rides with something like a wild mouse coaster, too. Additionally, with a bigger Rivertown area, they might be prompted to do some TLC with the train, perhaps re-add the animated effects it used to have. Just thinking out loud here. -

^^Its across from Diamondback and the Reds HOF Grille where the old entrance to White Water Canyon and the former funnel cake stand used to be. Its between the train station and Run for Your Life Charlie Brown (the log flume). We are just speculating on what it could be. Its set up much like Banshee's construction was back in 2013. Its hinting towards something. EDIT: Yay for simul-posting. -

Unless I'm mistaken or something has been changed, I believe guests are allowed to take photos on the train. If someone needs to correct me, now would be a good time for future reference. Also, if that is the case, I imagine Don is now furiously finding wood for a 2nd fence between the train and ground zero. -

The train looks like it'll be the best spot by far to grab photos. There doesn't appear to be anything blocking it from the construction site.... -
It just looks like a flat cleared area of dirt on the webcam that only takes up the former funnel cake stand's location.
-
My first reaction to the fence poster is one of much excitement with what it could potentially be hinting towards. However, I will be patient and see where Don's shenanigan's lead us this time. Let Decoding 2017 begin!

Judging by the shakiness of the webcams, I'm going to take a wild guess that WindSeeker will have problems being open tonight.
