  1. Maybe KI should "borrow" Jet Stream's pieces and add them into Soak City? Or maybe some of the other attractions from The Beach could be used for this purpose. I think that even though KI just expanded their waterpark, maybe we could see further expansion in coming years because of this development? Also, from the Enquirer article, I inferred that The Beach would try to be open in Summer 2013. Any truth, or just a rumor?
  2. http://www.flickr.com/photos/76097690@N03/6836889692/in/photostream possible logo-recolorization right here.
  3. http://www.negative-g.com/NoLimits/No%20Limits%20Defunct%20Coasters.htm If you are thinking, "WHY IS THIS DECISION TAKING SO LONG?!?!?!?", take a look at the link above. This guy recreated a bunch of old coasters. Some fans have been waiting for a decade (LeSourdsville Lake Park), others two decades (Lincoln Park) to learn the fate of their favorite coaster. Even though the site looks like it hasn't been updated since 2004, it's still cool to look at.
  4. Speaking of Fast Lane, isn't the park running a Gold/Platinum Pass promo this year where any of those Pass holders can get into Fast Lane for a reduced price? Thought I read something along those lines on a post here.
  5. Wish I could have been able to ride this, seems awesome
  6. Hopefully no one is hurt by this son...
  7. Bat's demise had to do with MAJOR design issues which caused the abnormal downtime. The similarities in issues between the two rides are as close as apples and oranges. Now if you want to compare Bat & SoB...... I'd have to ask my dad, but the two seem awfully similar... Maybe it's the curse of Kings Island, and instead of Son of Beast, it's really Son of BAT?
  8. Okay, never expect the ride to be open frequently, or never expect short lines. Thanks
  9. So TombRaiderFTW, if I may make an analogy to better understang what you are saying: Beast was like that great first movie that got a lot of money and did very well with all crowds. Son of Beast was like that sequel that just doesn't live up to the greatness of that first movie. Tell me if I am correct in my analogy. Again, I was 10 when I rode the ride, so I don't exactly remember how rough or shaky the ride was. But now if I rode the ride again, being much taller, I might experience pain if I rode the coaster now, as what other people are saying about the ride in relation to their height. So it was stupid of me to argue about the ride when I have a 5-year old, unchanged opinion of it. Oh well, I just hope something is done in the next 2-5 years, either way the decision goes.
  10. The best is when the realtor for our house has a community picnic out there. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING(except for arcade) is absolutely free. Best summer nights ever.
  11. Thanks, sir, appreciate the insight. Also, how often would you say the ride breaks down? To me, and by what my dad has told me, Firehawk seems to be running a course likewise to The Bat's, with its frequent breakdowns and closings.
  12. For the offseason, I am setting ride goals for myself to accomplish this season. (Diamondback goal? 75.) But anyway, I obtained a Gold Pass last year for the first time, and I went about 10 times to the park. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to ride "the park's only flying coaster," Firehawk. I really wanted to ride it, because I never had rode it before. Every time I went back there, the ride wait sign said two hours. My friends never wanted to wait this long. So I pose the question to you, KI faithful, what are the best times during the day to ride Firehawk?
  13. I rode it once when I was 10. I was crying on the lift hill, but had my hands up on the rose bowl. I know this will sound dumb, but isn't that what wooden roller coasters are supposed to do? Be rough and shaky? I know that a bunch of people were hurt, and I never want to see anyone get hurt, but compare SoB to its father. The Beast is shaky and maybe a even a little bit rougher than SoB, from what I remember. I know, it's dumb, but isn't that the point of woodies, to be brain-rattling and super shaky? If the fans back then had complained as much about Beast as they do about Son of Beast, I think we wouldn't have the longest wooden roller coaster in the world at KI.
  14. Curious, Kings Island's website has pictures of the Action Zone rides with Son of Beast in the background. I guess its unavoidable, but maybe...? Haha, I know that this means nothing, but a fan can dream, right?
  15. Man, Stricker's Grove is vintage. Just doesn't make enough money unfortunately. Before SoB, I thought Tornado at Stricker's was the scariest roller coaster ever.
  16. Very cool, but I agree with ohiocolts, I wouldn't like to ride it as much if it was outdoors. I don't think I would have rode it at 10 years old if I had known what was coming ahead. Still, the structures on FoF, Mad/Crazy Cobra and Poltergeist are just awesome.
  17. By "cracked beams and loose bolts" I was sarcastically referring to an earlier post in this thread. Agreed, any park will find a way to make more money. Interesting. thanks terp, always grateful for explanations so that I can be more informed on topics as such. I just have what seems like the ONLY good memory from SoB, and want it to return.
  18. Would anyone else like to see/ride FoF with the lights inside the building on? I'd just love to see how awesome it looks.
  19. Food for thought: If Son of Beast did reopen, under the assumption that the same amount of people would be going into the park everyday, it would draw a BIG number of people to it, therefore causing many other ride lines to be shorter, thus possibly cancelling out the Fast Pass lanes. If CF wants to do anything with it, though, they need to act fast. Those "cracked beams and loose bolts" won't fix themselves...
