"Tigger Punches A Whiny Kid"--You Tube Title

Recommended Posts

It kind of looked like he was stumbling and he was getting ready to fall and it didnt eve look like Tigger hit him that hard. I wouldnt consider the kid whiny until after he got hit. I thought it meant that he got hit because he was whining. I hope they get nothing with their law suit because we do not know what happened behind his back. He may have been hitting Tigger or something like that.

Let's not rush too fast. At this point, their attorney (attorney?) claims they just want an apology from Tigger.

Disney I am sure told all innvolved to make no comments and direct all comments to be made by their PR department. By even giving any sort of an apology would admit guilt and open the legal flood gates. And the attorney only wants an apology? Yea right..... :o

According to the video first cited, the general manager HAS apologized to the father, and called their home. This seems to me to be a very trumped up matter...Apologies do not necessarily open legal flood gates.

Still, if the family doesn't want money, WHY do they have an attorney representing them already? This seems very unusual...as do the television appearances on, among other things, the Early Show.

The first time I saw this video, it was in slow motion. But after I watched it at full speed, it looks like the son is doing something behind Tigger's back. I think Tigger was provoked.

Edit " After further review by my untrained eye it seems as if the kid is trying to unzip the zipper on the back of the costume. Just look as the grin on the kid's face. He looks like he's up to something."

In 94 while working in HP as a litter gitter, I had a kid running and not watching where he was going, run right up the back of my leg. I hated when the parents were not watching their kids and let them do what ever they wanted without regards for their safety. But I did not let it bother me and the kid was just happy for the thrill of being there.

Does Disney not require their costumed characters to have escorts while in the park like at Kings Island? And, to my untrained eye, it sure looks like that kid was up to something. Like others have said, it almost looks like he is trying to unzip the costume.

The Monaco family recently took a trip to Disney World, where they met Tigger, the exuberant tiger from A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh books. Or rather, a Disney "cast member" in a Tigger costume. And that's when the Monaco's horrific experience began.

"horrific" ? LOL Wow, I think the kid is tryin to unzip the costume.

Question: do you know anyone that video tapes, just standing with a tigger charcter? It looks like they taken picture? but then again why tape it?

A former tigger writes:

As a former-Tigger, I can tell you...

After seeing the video several times, I can see that the "kid" was actually pulling on Tigger's upper-back. There are only two things there: A zipper, and Neck-cowel.

The first, well, we know why Tigger would want to protect that.

The second, if pulled, severely chokes the performer.

Furthermore, Tigger's hand came up as a reaction, unknowingly, he "brushes" the kids face -not punching him as the accusations imply. I know the sight-lines in that costume, there is no way Tigger was aiming for the kid, it was a reaction only.

That's the news. Good luck, Tigger!!!

I saw that vid and that kid was up to no good!! That was no young kid that did not know better but a brat that was playing around Tigger's back and Tigger just reacted. That father just sees a quick buck and knowing the industry, Disney will be quick to pay out just to appease them. If that was me doing that, my father would had spanked my rear end right there!!

Yes, Disney has escorts. But the specifics are different. And as an employee of Disney's Animal Kingdom, I honestly have to say that I think that the kid in ? was just a tad bit OLD to be hugging onto Tigger in the 1st place. Usually it is only very young children. And besides, the kid WAS holding Tiggers Neck. The person was attempting to breathe. And the park has taken serious action against this individual. Regrettably to say. I think it is only because they pretty much can't just simply ignore ANY argument, from someone not liking their food, to a wrong order, to getting hurt on a ride, to this. But yes, it sure seems like it was all planned to me. And I agree, the kid clearly was not behaving in a mature manner. Much too careless for his age anyways. And the dad, appears to me to just simply be a whiner. Apparantly, he has not been father enough to care to teach his children NOT TO GRAB TIGGER ON THE NECK WHEN WE ARE AT DISNEYWORLD.

Which should have been taught to him and disciplined at a much younger age NOT TO GRAB ANYBODY, PERIOD. But the dad has allowed this to happen, and so I doubt that he is educated enough to see the reality of what he looks like on camera when he whines. And I doubt that the father is mature enough to care either. This is my say. Let me know what you think.

'Tigger' attack instigated, lawyer says

WKMG LOCAL 6 NEWS

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The attorney who successfully defended a Disney employee accused of groping a girl spoke out today about the latest incident involving "Tigger," in a report from FLORIDA TODAY news partner WKMG Local 6 News.

Jeffrey Kaufman, a former Disney cast member himself, said he sympathizes with Michael J. Fedelem, the man playing Tigger who was recently accused of punching a teenager in the face.

Kaufman, the attorney who represented Michael Chartrand two years ago, donned the Tigger costume during closing arguments then and said that the outfit was too bulky and the view from the mask was too obstructed for his client to have intentionally groped the girl.

Chartrand was found not guilty.

"Imagine what (Fedelem) is going through right now, realizing, 'I get paid $6 to $7 an hour, and I'm being accused nationally of hitting a child.' It's a rough world," Kaufman said.

Fedelem was suspended by Disney after a confrontation at Walt Disney World with Jerry Monaco Jr., 15. Jerry's dad, Jerry Monaco Sr., said Fedelem sucker-punched his son and has hired an attorney for representation.

Kaufman said he believes Jerry Jr. instigated the incident.

"(Jerry Jr.) is smiling the whole time. He's even smiling bigger when he gets a reaction (out of Tigger)," Kaufman said. "It's beyond ridiculous because you can see it from here."

Kaufman said Fedelem's swiping motion at Jerry Jr. was simply an involuntary reaction to pain, which he thinks was inflicted by the 15-year-old.

"You're cone of vision is from about here. You have some slits here, but your hand, you wouldn't be able to see out here," Kaufman gestured. "The costume is tied from the back. So if somebody pulls down, automatically the fur under the neck is going to cut off the air that you're breathing."

Kaufman also questioned the Monaco's reaction to the situation.

"The family didn't react like they wanted justice, they reacted like they wanted cash," Kaufman said. "I think its unfair because it could happen to any character in costume. That's the reason I represented the first character, because I realized that could have happened to me."

Union Rep Says Tigger Was Trying To Escape From Teen

POSTED: 4:11 pm EST January 8, 2007

UPDATED: 6:05 pm EST January 8, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A New Hampshire teenager said home video proves he was attacked by Tigger at Disney-MGM Studios. But, Channel 9 has learned Tigger said he was the one who was attacked. A union representative for him said he was pulled and was choking, adding he was just trying to escape from the teen.

In the video, Jerry Monaco, Jr., looks as if he's using his left arm to get closer to Tigger to pose for a picture. Then, the video shows Tigger's arm go for the teen, appearing as though Tigger is hitting him.

But the man in the Tigger suit, Michael Fedelem, said through his union representative that he was the victim.

Jerry Monaco, Jr., 14, said he did nothing to provoke Tigger.

"He was clearly ticked off and, why, I have no clue. I really have no idea to why he would do it," Jerry told Eyewitness News.

The teen's father filed charges against Fedelem with the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Fedelem was suspended from work by Disney for now.

The father thinks Tigger was annoyed that he was abandoned by his character escort. But Donna-Lynne Dalton, who represents more than 2,000 characters at Disney, has a different take.

"I have no idea how they would know, because, as you know, the characters do not talk," she said.

Jerry Monaco, Sr. said he took his son to the hospital a day after it happened because his son complained of neck problems. He was even prescribed a painkiller, codeine.

But Dalton said a supervisor talked to the family right after the alleged attack and they said their son was not hurt.

"As a union, we're not going to condone guests coming into the park and assaulting our members," Dalton said.

Monaco has retained an attorney. Eyewitness News asked Monaco if he's planning to file a lawsuit to get money.

"Gimme a break," he said.
