  1. Waiting in DB's line last weekend while the FL people rattled their jewelery as they strolled past us, I asked an elderly gentleman behind us the time. We struck up a conversation and found out he'd been going to KI since it opened and he told us wonderful stories about he and his wife's many visits. Right before we split up to go to our rows, he said his wife had cashed in her chips recently and KI helps him remember the wonderful times they had together. This wait in line is something we'll remember forever, and every time we see him we'll wave and say hello. If it weren't for the FL lords and ladies flying past us, we wouldn't have heard his whole story. People here seem to mainly be complaining about a little lost time, while KI is making money that we will eventually see become a new coaster, flat ride, attraction, or just help keep the park open. I don't really see how you can be cheated out of time. What did the old hippie say: "Be Here Now"

  2. You always down play the employees at the park and it's getting rather annoying. You're obviously butthurt. Just because you didn't enjoy it doesn't mean everyone else feels the same. Just like any other job I guarentee most employees with Cedar Fair enjoy their positions, that is if they have a good attitude.

  4. I think most of us could agree that KI is the test park for Cedar Fair. They used KI to test Dinosaurs Alive!, WindSeeker, and Fast Lane last year. This year, it looks like KI will be used to test Soak City and the new food options. What I am curious to see is if CF will keep testing things at KI, maybe more food options or different amenities, maybe even another big ride like WS. I could maybe see CF trying out small flats or pass perks at KI before rolling them out to the other parks.

  5. I would remove SOB, move Stunt Coaster to the Action Zone (I think it would be a better fit there), have GCI build a terrain coaster in the valley where SOB was and build some sort of antique car family type ride with a lot of landscaping again in the middle of the park.

  6. I say open a new Wood Coaster with a steel structure like The Voyage at Holiday World. Instead of an out-and-back just built it with plenty of turns and have plenty of airtime. Doesn't have to be the "biggest, fastest or longest". They could call it, "Illegitimate Son of Beast" !

  7. I think this coaster is done for as it has not been looked after since it closed a few years ago & it will cost less to take it down rather than repair it. How much would it roughly cost to get it re-tracked like "Texas Giant"..? I'm so glad I rode it back in 2000, but then it was still a bumpy ride (its layout is just wrong & would not work), they should of gone for a more spread out n back / twister version, the loop was glass smooth. I would see it coming down by the end of the year or sooner..

  8. Saturday - 5/5 got to the park around 5:30, left around 8:30 tagging along 3.5 year old and a 38 week pregnant wife (guess were we spent most of our time?) Boo Blasters was a half hour or so long wait (and it really annoys me how rarely all the guns work on that ride, especially at the start of the year) Charlie Brown's windup was get on as soon as the next ride is available (it always is) Kid Bumper Cars were suprisingly less crowded, got on as soon as the next ride was available. kid car ride was longer than what I'm used to, but moved proportionally quicker than I'm used to, maybe 15 minutes the other kid car ride (the offroad something or other) was like normal, similar to Charlie Brown's windup, get on as soon as the next ride is up. Based on what I saw of other rides, I'd put it at a 4 out of 5. Sunday 5/6 - wife had plans, so it was just me and the 3.5 year old. Got to the park around 12:30, left around 3:30 vikin fury was 1 "ride deep" (ie 4 people in one of the individual ques) in some spots, only 2 people in the other, none were empty, so a little bit busier than what we saw on wednesday evenings, but certainly nothing terrible. Back to kiddi land - Boo Blasters was pretty much the same as Saturday evening, about half an hour. Woodstock express was as long as I"ve seen it, had 4 turnstiles open in the que area, plus up and over the bridge, about half an hour to get on. The kid car ride right by The Beastie was even longer than the day before, I was preparred to "put up with it" for the boy, but by some miracle he picked up on the sense that it would be a long time (and we were well into his nap time by this point) and he said he wanted to go on the train. As we were leaving, we noticed the line for The Beastie was outside of the que area. Train line was normal, ie no line, just wait for the engine to come to the station. With no water park open yet, it was pretty crowded considering. left the train, went to the Eiffel Tower, they actually opened up a turnstile while we were in line (I always assumed that was for show), took us about 10 minutes to catch an elevator. After 10-15 minutes on top of the park, we headed for home. Based upon what I saw, I'd say Sunday in Planet Snoopy was a 4.5 during that time frame. I never would have thought a 3 year old would become my favorite riding buddy, but watching the joy on his face as he holds his hands up thru the entire Beastie course tops anything Diamondback or The Beast can throw at me.

  9. "Up, down, up, down?" No, no, no! That's not the Diamondback I know! Diamondback: Gulp back the palpable agita of fear mixed cruelly with delight and tremoring anticipation as the steady, cool, efficient steel lifting mechanism carries your serpentine car ever skyward toward the precipice of sheer exhileration that awaits. You hear the ubiquitous, carnivalesque din fade more and more as you become one with machine and sky. You begin to doubt your own bravado -- putting on your best, defiant face as your beating heart begins to adjust for the coming drop into red-metal madness -- the view begins to distort just a bit; vertigo sets in; the geometry of the structures below seem warped and exaggerated, like a wild dream from an M.C. Escher drawing. Then the trademark silence as you and all the other riders at the mercy of this maniacal masterpiece draw one last breath before.... whew! This is going to take too long. Ok I like your description better! Maybe there's a whip chart somewhere that shows crowds/wait times across a linear calendar...? I'm sure someone analyzes that kind of data somewhere. It would be kinda useful to gauge best visit times, imho.

  10. Being obsessive complusive about FL has a rather good chance to ruin your day at the park.

  11. What about the people sitting at home thinking about people like you who can go the park while they can't afford it? How many times did you ride while they didn't? Everything is relative. In days of old, people who spent the most money could ride the most. Nostalgia?

  14. I second 5/5/2012 being a 4/5. It wasn't quite the worst crowds I had ever seen, but here are my wait times: Before Lunch (Which was at 1:00PM)... Racer: 0 Minutes, Walk-On (Beat Crowds to It) Firehawk: 10-15 Minutes, if you want to ride Firehawk, do it early! Diamondback: 50 Minutes Vortex: 20 Minutes After Lunch, Before Dinner Viking Fury: 5 Minutes Monster: 10 Minutes The Beast: 65 Minutes Adventure Express: 15 Minutes Flight Deck: 20 Minutes Delirium: 60 Minutes, but we never rode as it broke down! AFTER DINNER Flight of Fear: 65 Minutes The Beast, Night Ride: 75 Minutes (+15 for Fireworks) Yep, I'd say a 4...

  15. One thing that I did not see you touch on here, where would those 309 people be if they were not in the Fast Lane queue? Something to also consider is that they could have already been in front of you in the line making your wait time the same. Now, I would agree that the people that got the rerides would have changed the wait time and that equals out to 30 seats for all the rides taken for those people, so a one train wait. By watching the video here, it takes about 2:11 from the time the train starts to move out of the station to the final break run. Most trains are send out about the time the train in front if it hits the helix which is about 1 minute and 43 seconds. So a train is sent out lets say 1:50 to be on the safe side, and I think some times they get it done closer to the 1:40 mark if loading went smooth. So, if all 309 people were in line in front of you anyway, your wait time would have only increased by 1:50 for the 1 train wait for the re-riders.

  16. There are videos and threads that you can search for that will show trims on the first drop and second hill of Beast since the ride opened. What's changed most recently is the style - moving from skid trim (which is less forceful over the short run but typically longer) to magnetic trim which can feel like sudden deceleration at times. These changes are advertised as not having made a difference in speed on The Beast - although there are those who might disagree with that assertion.

  18. Darn it, now I have visions of security guards on bikes chasing these two biker miscreants! That would be fun to watch. Separately, Hersheypark offers a bike tour through the park and town. Next month I think it is.
