  1. Why do the noobs think it's necessary to make a new topic when a ride simply closes for a few hours.....

  2. Other, please! I would love love LOVE to see an increase in landscaping, music specific to each area (though with Oktoberfest, we might need some African music in there. Can't leave out another continent... ), refurbish and MAINTAIN Adventure Express theming, little more with Flight of Fear, et cetera. Let's focus on the broken things in the park, and fix and maintain them.

  3. Yes, they allow business suits at Kings Island. Don't, however, try to wear a Paramount's Carowinds navy polo, purchased from Cedar Fair's Carowinds, with khaki pants. Not unless you want that park's security to tail you throughout the park most of the day, then confront you and accuse you of impersonating a park employee. I should have told them that, like Barton Kinzel, I was impersonating the best qualified person for the GM position!

  5. You're not riding Vortex anymore because you were asked to fill the rest before you got to pick your seat? That's seriously immature. They're trying to get the line moving swiftly, ride it and enjoy it, no matter where you have to sit. & When I went a few weeks ago, they were allowing us non fast passers to sit anywhere.

  6. Tis good I don't handle the KI FaceBook page. I'd be tempted to reply: "You can't handle the truth!"

  7. I thought this was really funny. She can't pronounce Schliterbahn, also, it's Kings Island. Not King's Island. Why do people do that all the time?

  8. I was also on that train - nothing seemed to be working for me that morning (Beast and Crypt went down while we were in line, followed by the evac on Racer). I found it kind of fun! Most amusing part was the former ride op in the train trying to help guide the current ride op who was struggling to open the restraints using the manual tool.

  9. Greetings all, long time lurker, first time poster. This thread finally made me decide to come out of the shadows a bit. I am going to have to go with option "C" and say why not both? I love to go to KI whenever the job and my racing allow me to, but I dearly miss the "theming" aspect from the days of old (pre-Paramount). Even if it was just different music and employee costuming from area to area it helped, even at my young age at the time, to make the park a more immersive experience. Over the past few years that I have been fortunate enough to be able to return to my beloved park I find that while I enjoy the rides, my overall park experience has diminished. Where there used to be a continuously changing sensory experience throughout the park in terms of the food available, the sights, the sounds (music) and even the smells it made it easier to "loose" yourself in the full park experience. It seems now that with an upcharge or basketball game around every other corner, the same music blaring throughout the park and, in my opinion very lackluster food choices (compared to when Festhaus and International Street were truly worthy of the names, although KI is still the only place I will eat LaRosa's) all I focus on is getting through the crowd to the next ride, never slowing down or stopping to take in the overall experience, because it is simply no longer there. This is why my wife and I prefer to visit during Halloween Haunt (not to mention it is our annyal anniversary trip as we were married on Halloween), the overall experience is much enhanced by the addition of theme.

  10. I should come to Kings Island in a suit and buy a dino dig hard hat from Dinosaurs Alive, get a clipboard and stand in front of SOB and pretend to take 'measurements'. Do they even allow visitors to wear business suits to Kings Island? But then again, who would want to in the middle of summer? lol

  12. I feel KI or Cf management in general is focusing more on atmosphere and over-all guest experience and I want that to continue more than I want a new ride. That said, I would love a Screamin Swing like Sky Hawk. The best thing they could do for me personally would be a Giga similar to i305 or a multi launch terrain hugger (like Maverick) going in and out of ravines. EDIT: Forgot to welcome RolerCoasterHunter. Hope you enjoy it here! which led to another want for KI... continual growth of this site, with quality content and friendly dialogue... whether we agree on the topic or not! There are many here I have come to respect, appreciate and enjoy.

  13. Use the drop off by the sign. If you pull into the parking entrance, you will have to pay for parking. Please, please, please use the drop off.

  17. I really hope they don't make this a permanent "Haunt" attraction! Common KI. In a 6 month season Halloween Haunt is only running for 1 month. Why would they waste such an amazing structure/space on a haunt attraction that would only be running for 1 month. I'm tired of KI treating Halloween Haunt as if it's the vehicle that's making KI run. There are other spaces and buildings that are just being used for haunt attraction 1 month out of their operating season. Why not utilize those spaces for the entire season? I pray this isn't the fate of the empty Crypt structure. Please God no! Give us something better than that!

  18. It was neither a life guard nor a procedure, it was a crazy man holding a voodoo doll under the water in hopes he could drown the person that doll was linked to

  23. The only thing I can see being a problem at Soak City is the new wave pool. Either get rid of the tubes all together, or make them mandatory if you are more than 3 feet deep. I am 6'6", 235 lbs, and being out there without a tube in the 5-6 foot section is flat out dangerous, and someone of smaller stature than myself is going to wind up drowning. People act like fools, kick you, hit you, will flat out run you over, as they are not paying a bit of attention.

  25. Not sure if a hairstyle counts...but the other night while in line for The Monster, I saw a guy wearing the greatest mullet I have ever seen! He must have been the King of the Mullets because not only was it extra poofy in the front and long and wavy in the back, he also have some blonde highlighted streaks in the back. It was classic! I haven't ever seen a mullet quite like that. He should be proud!

  26. I vote DT. "Ladies and Gentleman were are having problems with the ride cable releasing and we are going to unlock the restraints and have everyone climb down the ladder. remain calm as you will have to hang out over the edge and grab the seatbelt next to you and work your way around to the ladder". imagne SOB! sorry just had to throw it in this fourm is SOB free, but fixed that now.

  27. Last time I went there a year ago it was terrible. The food was cold and we ended up getting sick later on that night. But I wouldn't mind going back now and trying it.

  28. Gauges are, well, gauges. Plugs are what bald people use to not be bald. Tunnels are what cars drive through. Stretchers are what medical people use to carry injured people.

  36. So you wanted to see the Theater did ya? While I enjoy the competition you can have with friends on Scooby Doo/Boo Blasters, neither attraction is on the same caliber as Phantom Theater. When I look at the queue area in this video and see the Maestro playing the organ and turning around to taunt guests, it's sad knowing that that has since been replaced with flat, cardboard cut out ghosts that move side to side or up and down. The ride was superior to the current inhabitant of the building in every way. It was more immersive, starting with the sound of howling wind and a crow cawing as you walked down the pathway to the building, to the maestro playing his organ as you enter the building, and onto the ride which was made up of animatronics and actual props, not just flat black light cutouts where you can see the walls of the building. Even as you walked out the exit you'd hear the Maestro calling "You'll be back...". I'll end my rant by saying the biggest thing I miss is that on Phantom Theater is that you actually felt you had entered an old abandoned theater, rather than on Boo Blasters where the feeling is that they decided to put a ride in a big empty building, you can see the walls and at one point a large service/garage door is visible, I don't recall that being the case on Phantom Theater. I know the chances of Phantom Theater coming back are slim to none, but it would be nice for a dark ride of the same caliber of Phantom Theater and Enchanted Voyage to be put into that building. Time will only tell, but for now, I'll just be happy we still have a dark ride at all.
