The best system to avoid senseless lawsuits is to have the process that England has. If you bring a lawsuit and you loose, then YOU pay for the other party's legal costs. This is why companies settle out of court because it is cheaper than to mount expensive legal costs to defend yourself in a lawsuit. Dang, I just got a charlie horse riding that rough roller coaster, I am going to sue the pants off that park!3 points

Quite honestly... I don't want it to re-open. At least not in any way reminiscent of it's former self. I never liked KK, and I made no bones about it. Heck, I took a ride op job there on Chang 11 years ago for kicks (so I could operate a B&M) and quickly discovered it was even more screwed up behind the scenes than it was to the guest. That park was a festering ground for hooligans... it was nothing more than a summertime babysitter for teens from the wrong side of Louisville. The rides were sub-par, and it was literally a 3-hour park (After 3 hours, you were done.) In addition, the Lassiter accident can, and will, be cited as the defining moment when KK lost any future hope of being a successful ride park. That incident damaged it's reputation as a safe park far beyond repair. The Louisville masses dropped it like a hot potato. I supported the Koch's vision, simply because if anyone could have turned it around, they could. They recognized that it needed to serve as a regional waterpark destination. But the fact that they nixed the deal it tells me it's finally toast. KK is nothing more than Louisville's Astroworld - but at least in Houston they quickly bulldozed the park instead of literally letting it rot into an eyesore. Shaggy2 points

Before Kings Island gets ANYTHING new, they need to deal with the pile of crap rotting in Action Zone.2 points

This is not an un-heard-of incident on Beast. I, as a former Beast ride Op, personally saw it happen a number of times. More than likely the kid didn't "lean" with the 360, rather against it, and he face planted on the front side of the car. That, incidentally, is why there are small pads on that part of the train behind each seat. It had nothing to do with the kid not being measured, or not being tall enough. It has everything to do with the kid simply not knowing to avoid leaning toward the side of the car. Shaggy2 points

In any lawsuit, sufficient evidence is necessary to even get close to a jury trial, and all evidence needs to be presented to the defense prior to said trial. Any defense attorney will file a motion to dismiss due to insufficient evidence, and at the motion hearing (only in front of a judge) if there is insufficient evidence presented, the lawsuit will be quickly thrown out without the defense having to "defend" itself. If motion hearings did not happen for these types of things, out judicial system would be backed up 100x worse than it presently is.1 point

How about you all stop it and try and talk like actual [intelligent] human beings. You are the result of millions of years of evolutionary processes, so act like it.1 point

Most of you don't recall the merchandise KI USED to carry back in the day. KI used to have some of the most incredible souvenirs... and not everything had KI's logo's plastered on it. For instance, there was a Bavarian Toy Shop on International Street that carried the most amazing foreign collectible toys. Lots of West German items not found in regualr toy shops in the US. It was an absolutely amazing shop.... and it was one of SEVERAL like this. When I go to KI now, outiside of items unique to the park logos, there's very little merchandise that interests me. If there were more high-end collectibles, I'd spend big $. (I still have the framed artist prints they used to sell, a replica KI Carousel Lead Horse I shelled out $250 for etc etc etc.) Shaggy1 point

The two most interested parties could not get deals done that would seem reasonable. Unless the ownership of the land was to change, I don't see KK ever opening as an amusement park again.1 point

Does anyone feel like the drop off could be made a little bigger? Every time I drive by to enter the park it just looks like a mess and getting into it at closing to pick people up is terrible? (on weekends at least) So I feel like they could expand the drop off and maybe add a little more shelters and seating! Just me or does anyone else agree?1 point

Ok, so I went to Kings Island and Soak City today with my mom and sister. I haven't been to Soak City yet, and we were going to go today. We thought we might as well hit KI for some early rides too. Ok, here I go! We got to the gate right at National Anthem time, and I headed to Invertigo. Unfortunately, I just missed the first ride of the day. The Gates were open, and there were empty rows, but as soon as I get up to the station, the gates close. Anyway, after that cycle I got a ride, and it was good. I then headed to Diamondback. I went into the back row with my sister (Who dosen't do Invertigo yet, and was with my mom on Diamondback), and it was a walk on. (For me, a walk on can be a less than 2 minute wait) A great ride, as always. I then road again with my mom in row 3, walked on, and enjoyed a ride. Then we headed to Planet Snoopy to go on some of the kiddie coasters. I wanted to, just to see how they still are to me, and I haven't been on some of them yet this year. We headed to Flying Ace and waited a couple minutes for the front row. I liked waving hi to the people below. It was a nice little ride. I then wanted to head to Surf Dog, but it was closed. Then I would go to Woodstock, which was also closed. KI says Surf Dog and Woodstock Express are open for Early Ride Times, but they were not. We just walked on the Woodstock Whirlybirds. It was a nice little ride, some views of Diamondback and such. We thought we could have time for 1 Beast ride at opening and still make it for Soak City opening at 10:30, so we headed to the rope drop by Rivertown Junction. When the rope dropped, I dashed off with everyone else, but my cranky, whiny little sister wouldn't cooperate, so I knew i'd have to wait for her and let people cut me at The Beast entrance. But when I got to The Beast entrance, it was closed. Oh well. We decided just to get a ride on Backlot then and head out. It was a walk on, and I rode 2nd row. I stopped at a store along International Street on the way out to get a Flight of Fear thing of some sorts for my dads birthday. Unfortunately, there weren't any FOF stuff in there. There was even Flight Deck shirts, but no FOF shirts. I decided to check if they had any FOF stuff at Thrill Seekers, but it was closed. Oh well. We decided to head to the car and get our Soak City stuff and head to Soak City. We got there a few minutes before 10:30, and at 10:30, we went to Tidal Wave Bay to get a seat. We got a seat under a blue Funbrella, what KI calls these new umbrellas on Facebook and Twitter posts. What's funny, is they actually are Funbrellas. A thing on them said Funbrella. I thought that was funny. Anyway, we decided to wait for the waterpark to open and head to Zoom Flume, our favorite slide to ride together. Now, i'm not as big on waterslides as I am on coasters, so there are a few slides I still have never done in Soak City. Anyway, we headed back and got the first ride of the day on Zoom Flume. I love the new green and yellow colors on the slide, very pretty. After that, we walked on again. Me and my sister then went on Paradise Plunge. It was a nice slide, and a walk on. Again, I love the new paint. We then went to Thunder Falls, and it is nice not to see everything all white, but blue and green. I took a fun ride, and we then went on again. After that, me and my sister tried out the new Splash River. Now, i've heard about it not being good because of there being to many water effects and adults not liking getting that wet, so it's kind of hard to say things from my perspective about it. So, you head in the new zero depth entrance back by Zoom Flume, and first is where there are the water guns people are shooting at you. There are also some other water stuff there, about half of it not working today. Next, you kind of head into a whatever you call it, where there is ots of bubbles in the water, and it gets kind of bumpy. You then head under Paradise Plunge. Then you go under a bridge, where there are some more human controlled affects. A bit forward, there is the sign thing that used to have a crocidile and pours down tons of water, which I always love going under. There is then some more water stuff, the old "mushroom", more water stuff, and you head back to the entrance. I liked it, but I can see why some people may not. We then headed to Tidal Wave Bay. Most people in the water had intertubes. The waves were high and fun, with and without an intertube. I stayed in for a few more rounds on waves. The water is a nice temperature. A bad thing though, is that if you are in an intertube, the waves might send you back into a person. There was also lots of empty intertubes towards the end of the wave pool to the left. I enjoyed the new wave pool for the most part. I also saw to the left of the wave pool, there was lots of dirt, and some construction going on. There was a sign saying they are expanding the pool deck. Sounds good! I then went into the old wave pool, Breakers Bay. It seemed a bit wider, but shorter from entry to where the waves start. I can't be sure, but the waves seemed slightly shorter than those in tidal wave bay. It was a bit less crowded in Breakers Bay than Tidal Wave Bay. I think it is nce having 2 wave pools, but it just seemed wierd to me having them right next to each other. We then headed to Pineapple Pipeline. The paint looks really nice here to. I like this slide, but it just seems a bit forcefull to me or something. We walked onto it twice. My siter wanted to do Splash River again, so we did a lap on there. I wanted to do Paradise Plunge again, so we headed there. We were used to no lines the whole day, and I was a bit surprised to see a short line. But it was only about 5 minutes. It was a great ride, and did I mention how much I love the colorfull paint? We wanted to do Zoom Flume, but the line looked long, so we did Thunder Falls again. It was a nice ride, and a walk on. We both headed back to Tidal Wave Bay where my mom was. I stayed for a little in Tidal Wave Bay, then we left. Overall, it was a great first visit to Soak City, and nice going to ERT in the dry park too. A few notes: *Delirium was on the rides closed today sign again. Sounds like something is going on with Delirium. *Soak City had some people playing music somehwere around the entrance. It was nice. *I once again loved the sopunds of the waterpark and the lifeguards whistles always blowing. Anyway, I think i'm going to try and do a trip report for every visit this year. Why? I'm not sure. I kind of feel like it. And if you read this trip report, as always, thanks for reading!1 point

I think what I enjoy most about your trip reports is their enthusiasm. (Plus they are well written.) I sincerely hope you are saving copies of these...you have no idea how much you will enjoy reading these in the future...trust your elders.1 point

I have mentioned this before, but I would love to see Kings Island invest in a Floorless roller coaster! Kings Dominion and Dorney Park both have one. Ohio hasn't had a Floorless since Geauga Lake closed. Plus it would be a roller coaster that Cedar Point doesn't have up north. Does anybody else like my idea?1 point

I feel KI or Cf management in general is focusing more on atmosphere and over-all guest experience and I want that to continue more than I want a new ride. That said, I would love a Screamin Swing like Sky Hawk. The best thing they could do for me personally would be a Giga similar to i305 or a multi launch terrain hugger (like Maverick) going in and out of ravines. EDIT: Forgot to welcome RolerCoasterHunter. Hope you enjoy it here! which led to another want for KI... continual growth of this site, with quality content and friendly dialogue... whether we agree on the topic or not! There are many here I have come to respect, appreciate and enjoy.1 point

IDK if this is really the right topic for this, but IDK where else to put it. I was at Carowinds this week, sporting my classy Beast T-shirt, and one of the locals asked me in line for Hurler, "Hey, isn't The Beast the one that had a loop, but they had to take it out when it got stuck at the top and someone fell out?" I chose to tell them the truth, that no coaster fitting that description has ever existed at Kings Island, but that the Son of Beast was a wooden coaster, which did have a loop that was later removed after retrofitting the ride with new trains. I also informed them that nobody has ever died on a roller coaster at Kings Island (unless you count the guy who had an aneurism on Firehawk, but even he died after getting off, and the ride likely had nothing to do with it - article here http://www.daytondai...=rss_local-news ). In short, I think it's time to accept that we will likely need to say our goodbyes to Son of Beast. When it's hurting the daddy's reputation, that's when it is becoming a serious issue to the park. Beast is one of the most special things about Kings Island, and ol' Sonny is scaring people away from it.1 point
