  1. Wow... I have so many vivid memories of the original HB land from back in the day... My most favorite is the "Puppet Tree" which I wish I could go back in time to see again. But I also recall fondly... The Beastie - before it was The Beastie. It was the Scooby Doo Coaster and had manual hand brakes and was painted yellow. The Balloon Girls that frequented the area in ruffly bright colored dresses holding huge bunches of balloons with the HB characters and KI logo on them. The UNCOVERED and miserably hot loading platform and queue for Enchanted Voyage. Winsome Witches Cauldrons - the original multi colors on the cauldrons that were later painted black with flames and were terribly hot to sit on in the summer! The House of Cards Sunshine Turnpike and the distinct gas/oil smell those cars had. The "Stone" Flintstone benches The Flintmobile replica The Rainbow arch entrance to "The Happy Land of Hanna Barbera." The large "tarp" that covered a few of the smaller round-about rides. and... oh I'll let a few others chime in...

  2. Perhaps it is just me, but I find it incredibly ironic that a plane with an advertisment for auto insurance is flying above highways of fast moving vehicles with the sole intent of taking the driver's eyes off the road.

  3. Why would you feel flattered that someone who can't even spell the park's name, has incorrect information about other parks and produces fluff time-filling low budget shows rates the park highly? There IS such a thing as bad publicity. This doesn't reach that level, but it's hardly a highly marketable impressive endorsement either.

  5. The Geico plane is always in the air when the Reds have a home game and swings up by KI sometimes. Helicopter tours are offered by Stratus helicopters, they have two locations: 1) Newport 2) Lunken Airport KI is one of the sights on one of their more pricey tours. As for other planes, it's pretty common to fly over KI and see it. From the air, it's a really unique perspective. My friend John flies me over the park occasionally:

  6. My family and I made our annual trek to KI Tuesday and enjoyed a fun day at the park. The place was pretty busy for a Tuesday, but the weather was nice and we had a good time. We rode the following: Flight Deck, Viking Fury (x2), Congo Falls, White Water Canyon, Racer (x3), Backlot Stunt Coaster, Adventure Express (x2), Shake, Rattle & Roll (x2), Monster, Dodgems, Boo Blasters, Woodstock Express, Surf Dog. We also rode the train over to Soak City and spent a couple of hours over there and also went up the Eiffel Tower. I wanted to get a ride on some of the other rides, like The Beast, but neither my wife or son were in the mood to wait in the fairly long lines some of the rides sported. Only the blue side was running on The Racer early in the day, but the red side began operating later in the day. It was a much rougher ride than the blue train. Also, Woodstock Express was a very rough ride. My wife felt the same way about the Adventure Express, but I don't share that view. Now, on to the pics: My family and I before entering the park. Barb and I before the rope drop. Kolby and I prepare to ride Flight Deck, our first ride of the day. Here is a shot of Viking Fury. Kolby and I on Backlot Stunt Coaster. Me and my sweetie enjoying something sweet. Soaked after a ride on White Water Canyon. Some pics from the Eiffel Tower. Nice view of the fountains and tower. A shot of the carousel. Taking a rest by the fountains. Another shot of the tower.

  7. Enchanted Voyage is legendary to some of us of a certain age. These young whippersnappers today don't know what they missed.

  11. I started going to Kings Island back in the early 80's, probably around 82. My earliest memory from Hanna-Barbera Land was the old Enchanted Voyage ride before it was the Smurfs. What are some of your memories of Hanna-Barbera Land? What rides/attractions were your favorites? If you have photos, feel free to share those too!

  13. I actually like that it slows down there, gives the corkscrews great hangtime.

  14. I could totally see "Super Mario World" where Planet Snoopy is now.. Woodstock whirlybirds could be bowsers airships.. Boo blasters could be Luigis Mansion...Peanuts 500 could be Super Mario Karts.. Woodstock express could be Super Mario Coaster or something. That would be awesome!!!

  15. Wow that's crazy! I've ridden it at night before, but never by myself. I wonder if it might have had something to do with the lack of weight weighing the train down? Usually the entire train is full, that's a lot of weight. Could maybe explain why the train felt like it was going to fly off the track, it wasn't being weighted down by all the extra people.

  17. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! That song is quickly becoming for enthusiasts what "It's a Small World" is to those currently riding it at Disney. Even Jim Rome uses it now too! True. Trust me, Ive been rick rolled more times than I care to count, But I thought it seemed fitting..

  19. I loved themed rides and I love animatronics...I always have. As primitive as they are, I love the natives in the final tunnel of Adventure Express. I think that's why I loved Phantom Theater so much as well as the previous dark rides including The Enchanted Voyage and The Smurfs. Also, I miss the animatronic people that used to be on the train ride. Does anyone else remember this? They had indians that would shoot at the people in the fort, they had some guy getting water dumped over him by a lady, and also some guy in the black smith shop pounding away at some metal. These additions made the train ride memorable.

  20. ^ Hopefully you are lucky, but it's not a good bet. Since the holiday falls in the middle of the week, CP is the LAST place I would want to be for the next 2 weeks. Many companies are scheduling their shutdown next week or the week after. I anticipate crowds for the next 2 weeks to rival a good weather Halloweekends Saturday. Just remember: A bad day at the park is better than a good day at work!

  21. I would love to see some sort of new ride there, in or out of the box.

  22. I assume that as members of KI Central we are all big fans of Kings Island. So, if you are such big fans of KI, why are you all so negative toward any one who ranks Kings Island as one of the top parks? I feel flattered that any one would give such a high rating to a park which has meant so much to me.

  23. Love that pic Gordon - kind of interesting to see the park from that view. Also like seeing DB in mid splashdown. I'm guessing this was taken when WindSeeker was still being repaired? Since it is at the top but obviously not cycling (seats hanging vertical, not extended).

  24. How about you all stop it and try and talk like actual [intelligent] human beings. You are the result of millions of years of evolutionary processes, so act like it.

  25. You're not riding Vortex anymore because you were asked to fill the rest before you got to pick your seat? That's seriously immature. They're trying to get the line moving swiftly, ride it and enjoy it, no matter where you have to sit. & When I went a few weeks ago, they were allowing us non fast passers to sit anywhere.
