Park officials were on the last train.

I doubt pelting the ride with marshmallows will make it fall any faster.

Proof positive that working at the park is NOT all fun & games.

What site do you think this is? TPR? (the closest thing we have to TPR is Terpy, but that's a whole other ballgame) Ouch! Now, that hurt. Terp, who thought he was better than that.

Hate to break it to you but the best wooden coaster in the park is over in "whatever kiddy land is called."

What was later called Nick U was called rural vacant land when I was a kid. And yes, I liked The Racer going backwards or forwards. It was not my first big coaster. Some would say it was Kingda Ka! As for "real" coasters, I thought they all are. I've not ridden a false coaster, though Ninja at SFOG comes close.

I didn't know Don owned KI.

I was able to attend the media event for the opening of haunt. Waking in the gates and down International street was already looking awesome. I was very excited for the atmosphere of Haunt and all the props set out. The fog was already very thick! Pumpkin Head! ET! I meet up with jlopez and CoastersRZ for dinner. We were able to attend Madame Fatale's Dead Inn Feast. It was a very fun dinner with Madame and other members of the Inn coming around and joking with us. The food was very good. For us KI enthusiasts, it was also very fun to eat inside The Crypt building. This is something that you will want to experience! I was able to get a picture of Madame. After an enjoyable dinner jlopez (Jennifer), CoastersRZ (Robbie), and I decided we wanted to hit up The Beast. It was about 6:30 and the park was not very busy yet, but with rain in the forecast it was probably keeping some people from coming. We got in a great ride on The Beast, a few fog machines along side The Beasts tracks was a nice touch! We then headed to DB for a ride, and then a second ride. The Beast and DB are always worth the 2 hr drive from Indy to the park. Got a pic of new flags that we saw in the DB queue! We headed towards BLSC and got a fun ride on it. Robbie and I got front seat and you always get a little air there. We then went and got a ride in on Vortex. After getting off Vortex I took a picture of the dinosaur in front of DA who looks like he is going to fly off to fight some bad guy! I was starting to get some pictures of characters that were starting to come out for scares! We then decided to take a ride on The Racer. I really liked this prop! This picture came out really cool even though it was not intentional. It was now getting dark outside and we ready to stat hitting up some haunts! We meet up with BoddaH1994 (Ryan) and headed towards Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror. It was a very fun and interesting haunt. We went through Mysteria, I was expecting them to be a little more interactive in this maze. We also went through Carnevil, which is one of my favorites and still proved to be a fun maze. We went through Holiday Horror which had not changed from last year, but still a very well done maze and a lot of fun. I got a few more pics as we were walking around. This one came out sort of eerie! We then went through Urgent Scare! Got another character while in CM. I was a little disappointed the sign had not been converted to Coney Maul! We hit up the rest of the haunts over the next few hours and really enjoyed all of them. It was nice seeing Sam the butcher in Slaughter House. Tombstone Territory was a fun adventure as always. We got to see Blood Drums perform over in Action Zone. I got to say, this was a very fun performance and a must see when you go to haunt! Here are a few pics! The grinders were a lot of fun! We then hit up Wolf Pack and Corn Stalkers. At this point it was about midnight and Robbie and I wanted to get a night ride in on The Beast and DB. When we got in the queue for DB at about 12:30 it was starting to sprinkle. By the time we got on the train and was starting up the lift it was stating to come down pretty good. We got pretty wet on that ride. We then headed towards the parking lot to end our evening. Luckily the weather held off, thanks to KI for another fun filled evening. I hope you are able to enjoy haunt this season!

And some believe leadership decisions are not painful.....

update i just got back and umm i have intresting news. Sob's whole half of the rose bowl is completely removed(the side closest to the second drop in to the rose bowl.) I tried to take pics but i had no flash. and the whole entire brake run was removed.

So is that good or bad for KK? Yes. Terp, who strongly suspects the latter (as in the $5 million is to be the amount expected from sale of the rides as personal property.)

PayDays! I love PayDay bars. And peanut butter twists! I never liked homemade popcorn balls when I was a kid, and I sure wouldn't trust them now. And did I mention PayDays?

The track inside the tunnel there very closely resembles the surf-curve style track that swerves between the police cars earlier in the ride. Then the track dips below the ride's first launch section and pop up through the third launch out of the billboard. Nothing special happens in there, despite persistant rumors (again, don't read the park's Facebook page) that it goes upside down in the tunnel. It's just a tiny stretch of track that's indoors. I only know this because two summers ago, it was apparently the "cool thing" to leave the lights on in there for absolutely no reason. Let me tell you, that detracts from the ride experience.

According to Don, management wanted to repaint The Racer for 2012, but budget (assumingly) barred the plan. Apparently, a meeting was also held, where theming the train was a subject. "Watch what they do, not what they say."

What are you talking about? It's a roller coaster, indoors. That's it.

The one good thing about GatorGirl having a peanut allergy... ALL REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS ARE MINE!!! (well, I do have to share them and all other nut candy with Mrs. Gator, but still...) My least favorites have always been lollipops and Jolly Ranchers. Those were always the last things left in my bag as a kid, and those are the things I won't sneak from GatorGirl's bag now. Anything else that she has more than two of is fair game to me though!

My favorite is Twix, usually. Skittles too. As far as my least favorite, I don't do nuts, so Baby Ruth and Snickers are out, but I could at least trade those for things that I liked. When it comes to candy that nobody wanted any part of, I'd have to say it's whatever these things are: Not sure who went to the store thinking these looked like something kids wanted, but they should be wiped from the earth. I also don't like Bit-O-Honey's or these guys:

Okay maybe I am getting older, but what is Slenderman?

How does a roller coaster in Planet Snoopy differ from a roller coaster in the rest of the park? Are the thrills different? Is the way the roller coaster was constructed different? Do you count a "real" roller coaster by your opinion (eg Diamondback is soo much better than Adventure Express--which we all know is not true)? There are also numerous topics asking the same question as you. Please use the search feature in the forums. It is located on the top right hand corner of the forum index, and you can search for phrases using quotation marks ( " " ) EDIT: Change is inevitable, so how do you know The Racer will not be demolished?

Should I go this Friday night and stay 7 hours (6-1), or Saturday night and stay 15 hours (10-1)? I have heard that Saturday nights are extremely crowded, but how about at the end of the month this early in the Halloween season? Me and my wife are most interested in riding the rides and being able to enjoy the atmosphere without feeling rushed since this will be our only trip until next year. So, considering that Saturday night allows us double the time to spend inside the park, should we go for the value there? Or will the crowds totally ruin it for us? I definitely do not want to spend my weekend waiting for over an hour for a ride. Has anyone on here been yet? Did anyone go last Saturday night.....and how was it? What were the wait times for the rides/houses? Thanks so much!!!!!

But the dark chocolate version of Mr. Goodbar is still great, available only in miniatures. Terp, who loved chocolate covered peanut clusters as a kid, dished out by the ounce by nice old ladies at the dime store...and FRESH orange slices. Oh, my!

Yep! Thats right! They used to be 5, and we got our moneys worth. A couple of trips later... we see this on all of the menus... Pictures2 585 by KIC-Original, on Flickr And yes... that is a sticker slapped right ontop of the old price.

But KI has a coaster that is longer than any CP offering. What are you saying, Milleiunuim Force is longer then Diamondback. Unless I'm missing some sarcasm here, you are forgetting a certain wooden coaster that runs rampant through the woods of Kings Island.

And you expect the public to make such fine distinctions? All they will remember is something about four hours, a swing ride and brakes. I bet some will even think it happened on SkyScreamer at their local Six Flags.

I was a little worried about the weather, as I think most people were. However, it turned out to be a great day at KI for my family and our sixth trip of the year. We got to the park about 3pm and the parking lot was the emptiest I think I've ever seen it. Last time I was at the park, we had to park in the very last row of the parking lot on the GWL side it was so packed. It was a nice surprise to see so few people. The lines were pretty short for the majority of the day; only FoF had more than a 30 min. wait. We wanted to take advantage of the $1 deals on the day and so we did. As soon as we entered the park, we went straight to the Skyline on Int'l Street for the $1 coneys. 10 coneys = $10. Once we finished eating, we looked around the I Love the 80's shop to let our food settle (can't believe the Back to the Future Flux Capacitor was $300). Then headed to one of the kids favorite rides - Adventure Express. It was a walk-on and a great ride as always. Next, I wanted to check out the lines for FoF, figuring it would have a less than normal wait. It did thankfully as I've been wanting my 9 year old son to ride it since he's grown to the 54" requirement. We haven't ridden it this year due to the long lines every time we've been. It's been over a year since I've been on it and a great ride as usual; my 2nd favorite ride in the park. I don't know if he liked it but I congratulated him for riding his first big (over 54") ride. I loved the lighting improvements; it was great to see so many lights working. The lights in the ****pit of the UFO were lit probably the first time I've ever seen them lit. It was also nice to see the alien in the container on the left side of the UFO. The LED type lights in the tunnel were on and was a nice addition. Great to see FoF get some little improvements to make the experience better. My boys and I then went to Vortex; it was another walk-on. And this is a first for me - a re-ride. We rode in 5-1 and 5-2 (this truly is the best place to ride this coaster; thanks to all on here for suggesting it in other posts). We came back into the station and nobody was in our row - yay, re-ride. My boys loved it; I'm okay with one ride as the second was a little tough for me. I guess I can't call myself a "ride warrior". After a ride on The Racers, and a couple rides my kids took on The Racers, I told my wife I wanted to get on Diamondback. My wife and kids went to partake in $1 blue ice cream - thank you KI - and I went to Diamondback. This would be my first ride on Diamondback in a couple years. I boarded the train and Gary Coleman asked if he could ride with me. Of course I said he could. He said the ride was number 8,066 for him. I love this ride; definitely my favorite. So much airtime it's hard to believe. Gary had mentioned he liked Diamondback better than MF and TTD at CP. Sounded like he may think MF is an overrated coaster like some others on here. Then while waiting on the final brake run we got to talking about what KI may be getting. He said he's heard we are receiving a coaster in '14. And if it's what he heard we are getting, I'm excited as I've never ridden the type of coaster KI may be getting. I can tell you one thing, the type of ride will be wild and will keep people coming back to the park. I'm excited. We then took a nice, relaxing ride on the train. Then we started to wind down and chose one more ride - Backlot Stunt Coaster. I can tell you that after this ride BLSC is definitely a triple launch coaster. I've never paid attention or noticed it before but after reading some discussion on here recently it's easy to spot/feel the 3rd launch. Afterwards, we took a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower and got some last good looks of SoB. I've only been on SoB once and it wasn't that great of an experience, so I'm not that disappointed it's coming down. I'm more excited to see and/or ride what will be coming in it's place. We left the park about 8pm and seemed like the right time. It started pouring rain as we were making our way down 71 and raining very hard. My family and I love KI and plan on renewing our season passes next year. This was the first year we had season passes and we enjoyed every visit. Looking forward to HH now. We went for the first time last year and very much enjoyed it. Thanks for reading.

Sorry for taking so long to post. Twice I started to do it, but somehow it kept getting wiped out, so this time I’m relying on Microsoft Word. Now, where was I? Oh right, I left off after Vortex stopped briefly while I was waiting in line for my post-95th-Vortex-ride WindSeeker cycle. IMG_2744 by KIC-Vortex_BFF, on Flickr This WS ride was in Seat #30. It had stopped raining for a long time, but it was still a good breezy ride (like always) up top. Pleasant…very pleasant. After that, I returned to Vortex and rode it six more times. The first four of those six were on the favorite, Train #2, while the other two were on Train #1. The first was in row 6-1, which is like 7-1, except it is a little less intense with a TEENY bit less airtime. Speaking of 7-1, the next two rides were in that row! Fun, intense, airtime-filled ride as I’ve always remembered it. My 99th Vortex ride was in my favorite row in the back, row 6-2. It’s sort of a combination (in-between) 6-1 and 7-1. It’s more like than 6-1 than 7-1, though. When it was finally time for my Vortex Ride #100, I suddenly felt this whole new lot of anticipation as I entered the queue. It felt like a casual “procession,” as I got closer to the loading station. At the same time I wondered: Which train would have the honor of taking me on my 100th flight? Turns out, that train was none other than Train #1. IMG_1614 by KIC-Vortex_BFF, on Flickr I took Vortex Ride #100 in the same seat that I took Vortex Ride #1. Very, very nice ride. Like always, I loved watching the track in front of me while going through the loops. Vortex Ride #101 was in a sentimental seat, too. It was in row 2-1, the same row in which I took Vortex Ride #2 on 7/23/10, and it was also where I did my very first marathon, on 9/26/10. To this day I still call 2-1 "the lucky seat." To “celebrate” again, I took a third ride on WindSeeker. This one was in Seat #53 (one of my August 13th seats!) The song that played wasn’t one of the How To Train Your Dragon soundtracks, but I thought it was beautiful. Now if only I knew what it was called… It was about 7:40 pm, just 20 minutes before closing. I had only rode 3 different rides, so I went to the X-Base. I wanted to ride Firehawk, but it was closed. (It was open earlier!!!!!! What’s up with that??? ) So I went on Flight of Fear instead. The wait was only about 10 minutes, as the line actually moved pretty quickly. I’m on a roll with sentimental seats today… I was on Train #3. I loved the launch, and that out-of-control feeling as the train twists, turns, and spirals through near total darkness. I got off the ride at 7:55, which would be just enough time to go back to Vortex and possibly catch the last train of the day. And catch the last train I did! I entered the queue at 7:58. Train #2 was just about to dispatch when I arrived, so that meant I was on Train #1, as part of the last trainload of riders for the night. I was riding WindSeeker and got off at 7:59, and then I had run like the wind to Vortex and ended up being the very last rider that was let on the ride before the park closed at 8.
