I received my piece of track today after they called yesterday. Here are what they look like. I got No. 15 out of the 250. Comes with a nice Certificate of Authenticity signed by Greg Scheid.

Just received a phone call from Kings Island saying my plaque will ship tonight!

I'm sure an amusement park could get a nice discount if they used their Home Depot card. Sorry, my glasses were getting fogged up by all the hot air you're blowing.

To add to Terpy's point- Beast cost about $4,000,000. In 1979. I used an internet calculator, and that comes up to $13,808,795 in today's dollars. So, if you have $14,000,000 and the right terrain (or, pay extra to modify a LOT of terrain), and have at least 35 acres of land, you too can build The Beast! (Disclaimer: You might want to hire a professional wood coaster builder like The Gravity Group or GCII anyway, otherwise, you will probably mess up your version of Beast and it will be unsafe!)

^ If it helps put those of you at ease who are still waiting on a call and a charge, the lady I spoke to on the phone told me I was the first one to order one. I'm sure you'll be getting your call and package sometime soon. They are rather heavy so I'd assume packing them isn't fun.

I don't wear enthusiast eyeglasses, nor the accompanying Cedar Point glasses strap. But thanks. And there are ignorant rumors no matter what the ride - water dummies falling off WindSeeker being one of the most recent. Sure, some people will fall for them. But that's a very small percentage of potential park visitors; the majority will realize that the new ride is a new ride, based off promotional material, word-of-mouth, and common sense.

There will always be ignorant, uninformed people, no matter the subject or situation. That shouldn't prevent a vaguely similar ride being built in the same location as a failed one. You're ignoring factors like maintenance and upkeep. Initial cost for a wooden roller coaster may be less than a steel, but the overall cost down the road isn't necessarily as low. Counting Racer as two separate roller coasters, then only three Kings Island roller coasters run with three trains - Vortex, The Beast, and Diamondback. A two-train GCI would not be at all out-of-place.

I think Hades looks sweet, but the shuttle coaster looked lame. I'll take Thunderhead over that any day.

I sincerely hope you are not implying that a fatality has to take place for something to be considered a safety issue. No, no. My sternum explained that to me after I rode the re-opened Son of Beast years ago.

Another big chunk of the drop/lift has been taken down today at around 11:00am. Didn't have time to take a picture but I'm sure it will be on twitter soon.

Well, I'm excited for it, anyway. This is the first legitimate wooden coaster barrel roll, as far as I'm concerned, and it's fun watching the industry take this turn. I'm having flashbacks to the 2008-2009 Gravitycast podcasts, when Chad talked about inversions being a design possibility now that The Gravity Group has control over the train design. I figured we'd see that sooner or later, but I never guessed it would be on the company's first original design. This is awesome, and I'm glad to hear Hades is getting train(s) better suited to its design. From what I've gathered, it's needed some love for a couple years. On that note: Given the head start they've taken in deconstructing that turn already, it sounds like TGG has a lot more confidence in installing the Timberliners this time around, compared to how Holiday World's version has gone down. I bet Mt. Olympus is probably paying more than the ~$500,000 Holiday World paid for their two Timberliner trains. I'd say this bodes well for seeing TLs on Voyage in 2013.

There is typically a horizontal lifeline system in place where positioning belts and lanyards are attached to shuttles/rope grabs that allow them to pass through at intermediate points. The exact specification may differ on case-by-case basis.

Bascially I'm saying you're wrong about it being cheaper to maintain wood then steel. In the grand scheme of things(which is what matters) steel coasters are easier and cheaper to maintain than wood coasters. You come across as if you know what you're talking about but in reality, you don't.
