  4. I could care less what the color of the ride is as long as it's a good ride. If you could care less what color it is, then you do care some...EDIT: Second by seconds!

If you could care less, then you do care some. jcgoble3, beating Terpy to the punch Wish I had the guts to tell my teacher whenever he says "I could care less about your conversation" or something like that, that if he could care less, he cares some. Gotta play it safe though.

  6. Which...failed. The past. Forget it. Heaven knows the park wants to.

  7. What did they expect a call to 911 to accomplish? People like this need to be given their money back & escorted to an exit. An attempt to enter the park again and you will face trespassing charges. And shame on any media outlet reporting this non-story.

  9. Hate to bring up an old point of discussion, but I don't really think the type of ride impacts the color a great deal. Oh, wait. It's a Cedar Fair ride. So one thing's for sure. If it IS a coaster, it will most definitely be light blue. Were this being built two years ago, it would almost certainly be red. Just my $0.02 on the color debate. Now for the ride/attraction itself, we know one thing about it. Considering where it's being built, Cedar Fair wants to impress the heck out of us so we forget ol' what's-his-face that used to live there. And when they had to take out another significant failure (The Bat), they graced us with the ride that, in my humble opinion, is the finest steel coaster to have ever graced us with its presence. Others, I'm sure will disagree, but as you can safely guess by my avatar, Vortex and Flight Deck (both products that are directly related to The Bat in some way) are among my favorite coasters ever. In fact the only ride I've ever ridden that I enjoy more than Vortex is made of wood, and stands 110 feet tall and just a few dozen yards directly south of my beloved Vortex.

  17. ^^I have friends and cousins deathly afraid of coasters, but the one they will ride is Flight Deck. By those standards I'm pretty sure it's for everyone.

  19. I`d like to get out to Canada`s Wonderland one day. The park seems like a wonderful park, and I have heard nothing but good reviews about it. That being said, on the topic of a B&M hyper and giga in the same park. What is the difference between that, and say a park having two wooden coasters? They are both the same type of ride. Different layouts, height and speed and different experiences. I don`t see what the issue is with Canada`s Wonderland having two similar coasters. As long as it is an investment and a new ride (especially if it turns out to be a new roller coaster), I will be happy. And the general public will love it, I`m sure. How many people in the general public consider Diamondback to be one of the best coasters in the park? Quite a few. Anything in that spot will certainly bring some life and energy back to Action Zone. And since Kings Island is a business, hopefully some more attendance and revenue.

  21. bigger isnt always better... referring back to the topic of a page ago. You cant claim Invertigo as an "everyman" coaster since it does a loop. I think when a coaster does a loop, extreme Gs, or extreme speed/height then it no longer falls into the category as Everyman. Invertigo does the loop/up side down moment. Since when do we judge a coaster's line as the level of popularity. C'mon KIC I know we are better than this...

  24. ^ it's not, it's just that we don't know anything about this ride, let alone if it is a rollercoaster. If it is a rollercoaster (which I think it is ) the color would change based on the type of ride which we don't know, Evan if we did its still pretty early to talk colors. Edit: I was responding to the originial comment about color and taboo but of course as soon as I hit send then the sight shows me the 3 posts after that

  29. I'm pretty sure that gum is allowed in most places, though the Xtreme Skyflyer operators may require you to spit it out before riding that attraction. As for what to bring, I recommend packing as light as possible. Only the essentials should be brought in; cash or a credit card and a car key is all that you absolutely need (plus your season pass if you have one). Cell phones probably should only be brought in if you truly need it for communication with your group or expect to take pictures with it, otherwise it can be left in the car out of sight. Sunscreen is best applied in the parking lot and left in the car rather than carrying it around all day; you can get your hand stamped for re-entry when you go back out later in the day to reapply sunscreen. Generally, there's rarely a reason to bring in more stuff than can fit in the pockets of a pair of cargo shorts or in a fanny pack; if you're carrying a backpack, you're carrying too much stuff (not to mention that you'll be forced to pay $2 for a locker if you want to ride Firehawk, as bags and backpacks are not allowed in line and cannot be left in the station). Extra stuff can and should be left in the car. What you do bring in should be properly secured; this does not mean simply sticking it in an ordinary pocket, as some rides, most notably Diamondback, are notorious for causing stuff to fly out of such pockets. You need either cargo shorts with zippered pockets (velcro is not secure enough) or a fanny pack to properly secure your stuff and prevent losing it on the rides. If someone else is driving the group, talk to them and see if he/she can arrange for stuff to be left in the car/van and for trips back out to get sunscreen. The less you have to carry, the better. If you have to carry extra stuff like sunscreen inside the park, buy a small travel/sample size of sunscreen that will fit in a fanny pack so that you don't need a backpack. Welcome to KIC!

  30. You are going to want to bring sunglasses as well. I didn't realize food was not allowed in the park, as I sometimes pack a bag of twizzlers to snack on. You might want to confirm that. I also highly suggest considering getting a fanny pack instead of a bookbag.

  31. Welcome! As far as I know, gum is allowed in the park. Please dispose of it properly. A few years back, after a choking incident, Six Flags forbade riders from having anything like gum or candy in their mouths. It's not a good idea. How or even if they enforced this, I have no idea. When in doubt, call the park. That's the best advice. As to what to bring, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and a great attitude all help!

  32. Some pics from today. Not much to see in this one.. Again not much but this section of footers is shaping up.. In this one if you zoom way in by the black tarp you can see some survey markers outside the thunder ally area.

  33. I have panic attacks every so often. Now I don't know the individual, but if I were that scared of getting stuck on a ride, I wouldn't go on it. These people were stuck at most 10 minutes before being escorted? That seriously isn't enough time to work yourself up on, especially if the ride ops were communicating through the PA system (which I'm fairly positive they would be).

  35. Wow, thanks! That's incredibly high praise, and I'm so thankful for it. I try to explain the park the way I'd want it described to me. Not short bullet-point reviews of attractions with out-of-ten scores at the end, but through a real point of view of what the park feels like; the details; the experiences. I'm glad that's noticed. Means a lot. It would definitely depend on what you like. Some people would be bored stiff by Journey to the Center of the Earth and find its thrill factor was WAY too low. There are no massive roller coasters at DisneySea either. Like I said, it's the kind of place that you could spend an entire day even if there weren't any rides. Trouble is, some people wouldn't be interested in that at all, so this park isn't for them. Disneyland Park in California remains a gold standard to me, and Disney California Adventure is probably my "favorite" theme park. But in terms of what I value in a park, I would probably agree that DisneySea is the best theme park in the world.

  44. I finally made time to read it through the entire thing, and I really wish I made the time earlier. I love the incredible detail you pour into each sentence, and that makes me want to read on and on. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped reading through some trip reports because they are just so bland! Yours is a refreshing style this community rarely sees. Thank you for letting us relive your memories. Your work does not go unnoticed.

  45. You bring up an interesting point. Now that the park is open daily, wouldn't it make sense to see construction crews working on the site in the process of building this unknown object? Granted, I haven't been to the park yet this year and also know nothing about the process of construction, but would they not be digging more footers and going on with construction everyday if they were building a coaster? Something just doesn't add up here. If this is a coaster, then it's not like Diamondback, comparing the number of footers and the different signs that we've seen. There will be something built there, but the finished product may be something very unexpected.* *Note: I know no inside information at all about the current construction going on in "The Graveyard."

  49. GYK, Your passion for the amusement industry, and your innate ability to carefully and clearly articulate your thoughts, ideas and experiences through the written word are what set your posts, more specifically your trip reports, in an echelon apart from any other user on this website. You truly are the best thing for these message boards because the reader can, in addition to learning the finer details of each park or even attraction you write about, we sense your excitement and passion which is, for lack of a better word, infectious. This trip is something 95% of the readers here will never get to experience in their lifetime and what's more, is you didn't solely go for the Disney aspect. Sure it was a big draw, but you took advantage of so many other Japanese "must sees". I get so discouraged when I see readers here articulate a thought and it comes across as their life is completely consumed with the amusement industry and virtually nothing else. It's almost like tunnel vision. Make no mistake, to me, you are the best contributor KIC has. I'd be lying if I said quality posts like yours were in abundance, that the 'fluff' was in the minority, but sadly it is not the case. It's a shame so few people have responded to thank you for the hard work you put in sharing your thoughts and experiences with this community without needing to speak in puns, use anecdotal phrases or being just snarky. It's informative and flat out enjoyable to read. So, on behalf of all the other users who won't bother to put their gratitude in a reply, consider this to be an all inclusive "Thanks".
