If i worked there, i'd keep some random track pieces and every now and again, paint them different colors then set the on skids outside the plant and watch the coaster community explode.14 points

Please don't. And don't mistake our friendly banter for needling or nitpicking. It isn't. See also B&M launched coaster(s). Terp, who has been told he's even worse in person (more puns, more riddles and teasers, more time, more cross talkin', fewer commas and more something...I forget).10 points

The plain fact is there is already existing at least one, and some would say two, B&M launched coaster(s). As has been said, every person is entitled to his or her own opinion, but not his or her own facts.9 points

Reports of red track outside the Batavia Steel plant. By the looks of the track, my guess is a hyper or Giga.8 points

Rumor? The park sold gold passes one year that did not include season pass parking...which was an additional $35 or so. I, among apparently a few others, bought it. After abysmal sales, just after Christmas, parking was included in the sales price. Which did not go up. Those of us who paid for parking got refunds. This was either 2007 or 2008 pass year. There were no Platinum Passes yet. It also had hurt sales that Paramount Parks passes had been good at all Paramount Parks--but not for parking, except at your home park. Cedar Fair had attempted to get rid of this benefit. This, too, backfired. A MAXX pass good for all three Ohio Cedar Fair parks was created and sold well. The name changed and then again. The benefit was extended to all Cedar Fair parks (at one point it covered only dry parks, I believe, except at the park where purchased), and Platinum was born. Carowinds at one time sold four levels of passes, adding a silver.5 points

I believe I was required to be in a group of 2+ when I went on a school trip to Cedar Point. I had to choose from "Let's get in line for Raptor first thing in the morning", "Let's wait 3 hours for Millennium Force", and "Let's not ride much at all".5 points

When my High School had a Kings Island day, there were groups who had to do the packets together, but once those were done, we were free to go our own ways until we had to meet back together to catch the bus. The de facto "everyone has to agree" rule when going to amusement parks with groups is why I usually go alone. Because I don't want to ride Diamondback over and over, and they probably don't want to ride Vortex over and over.5 points

Sorry to double post. The pics from Clermont Steel don't look like Dive Coaster track. At least not Shiekra sized. Notice the extra width and straight connectors. Dive Coaster track is massive. Normal sized track (Kumba) with the typical curved connectors for reference.4 points

I don't want to be that guy, but since proper use of trademarks is part of the TOS and all, I feel I should share this screenshot from the LEGO (which is always written in all-caps, BTW) website a few years back that would appear if you tried to access it by typing in legos.com. The same disclaimer also once appeared in the back of every LEGO catalog. I cannot attest to any season other than 2014, when The Beast was smooth enough to be very enjoyable and even somewhat marathon-able.4 points
-
Tip for riding Beast or Racer- ride in the 2nd row of each 3 row car. You're not directly above a wheel housing, thus you'll get less of the jolt when the wheels bang against the track. The exception, for me anyways, is the front seat, though I've also found row 2-1 enjoyable on Beast.4 points

My family just got back from a trip to Dollywood! We bought season passes last November and wow, was that a great idea. My sister, Emily, was 47" last time and couldn't ride any of the bigger rides. Now, she's 48" and she got the yellow wristband! Which meant she could ride Thunderhead, Mystery Mine, Tennessee Tornado, and Barnstormer. She's quite a daredevil and went right on Thunderhead without any hesitation. She absolutely loved it. As did I. It's still my favorite wooden roller coaster. You get some insane airtime on it. To those who don't like The Voyage due to it being rough, try out Thunderhead sometime. It's much smoother. Mystery Mine is in my opinion one of the most underrated roller coasters. The second drop always catches me off guard. I love the theme, the music, the effects, and most of all, the ride itself. It may be short but I still think it's amazing. Emily started crying when she realized the lift hill goes straight up but by the first drop she loved it. It's now our thing to sing the song ("if you whistle in the Mystery Mine..") everyday. I still think Wild Eagle is overrated. It doesn't thrill me at all. It's a nice peaceful ride. That's it. It's way too short and doesn't really excite me. Rides like Thunderhead, where you feel totally out of control, are much better. Gatekeeper > Wild Eagle though wing coasters to me aren't that fun. Tennessee Tornado is your standard looping roller coaster but much smoother than Vortex. Barnstormer is a fun little ride but even Emily was somewhat disappointed by the length of the cycle. Firechaser Express is an amazing family ride. Something like this needs to be in every amusement park. We left around 3pm on Thursday. Friday, we planned to go to a silly Pigeon Forge attraction indoors since the forecast predicted storms all day, but the weather ended up being perfect so we went back to Dollywood. And absolutely nobody was there. We waited 0 minutes for Thunderhead, 0 minutes for Mystery Mine, and 0 minutes for basically everything else. Most of the day we spent looking in the quaint stores, buying candles, and watching the Festival of Nations shows. Dollywood is a great amusement park. I am probably forgetting some things so I'll add them if I remember. I also have some good picture so I'll post them soon!4 points

Not the media, but I was walking behind a kid at school on Friday and I suddenly heard him say, "We went to Disney World over Christmas Break and while we were there the WORST thing that could happen happened. We went on It's a Small World and we stopped for a couple of minutes!"3 points

Rumor because I did not have a source to provide. Now I have one, so, thanks! Also, wasn't MAXX Plus available for those looking to add on separately-gated water parks? Edit: Yep. http://pointbuzz.com/News/Story/11053 points

According to Dictionary.com, "couple", in a formal sense, refers to only and exactly two. The use of "a couple of" to mean more than two is classified as an idiom, and dropping the "of" from that idiom is further classified as informal. On the subject of weather, this far in advance looking at "normal" forecasts of exact temperatures, precipitation, and so forth is pretty much useless. I don't start looking at that until about three days out. Until then, you're better off reading the National Weather Service's forecast discussion, which for Kings Island can be found here: http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=ILN&issuedby=ILN&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off (Thanks to malem for cluing me in to that a while back. )3 points

Rumor has it that is why Kings Island still has gold.. They attempted to do away with it in favor of Cedar Point's model. Locals did not buy it (literally, they didn't switch to Platinum), so the park brought it back.3 points

It goes from being at rest to being in motion, so depending upon one's definition of a "launch"... Not that Surf Dog is relevant to the question of whether coasters launch, what with its not being a coaster and all.3 points

I'm betting that when my school group goes to Cedar Point soon it should be walk ons for just about everything considering we're going on a Tuesday. I'm really hoping they don't make us sit in a big group together at all times, and I'm especially hoping that they don't have the "everyone has to agree" rule for the groups. With my luck I'll get stuck on kiddie rides the whole time if that's the rule.3 points

If this is your only trip, and you want to experience rides like Banshee and The Beast at night, you may want to pick a date when the park closes at 10:00pm.3 points

I agree. The music, in my opinion, seriously detracts from the ride. It wasn't there in 1979. Nostalgia.3 points
