GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
DeLorean Rider replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So, they're just using up more parking space? Where are the people going to the stadium going to park? I'm sure it will just be a dream trying to attend that park on a game day. -

Creating threads just to create threads is bad enough but if you cannot even figure out how to use the "edit" function or construct a proper poll and/or question, you should probably stick to reading and maybe replying.
-
What?! Did you even attempt to proofread this before you posted it?!
-
I don't know, that seems a bit to carnie for KI. Does KI really need another swinging flat ride? We've already got two.
-
How exactly does the orientation of one side of The Racer influence whether Kings Island is an amusement park or a theme park? It seems to me that the two subjects are completely unrelated. Also just so we're clear; when a park is deciding whether or not to turn a coaster train backwards, the biggest influence to the decision is: Insurance Rates.

What was I thinking!? It's been added to the list.

We can only hope Gordon, we can only hope...

You are incorrect. As I stated in the beginning, this poll is not about Son of Beast the ride. This poll is about just about polls; polls that happen to be about Son of Beast. Though the polls that this poll is about are about Son of Beast, this poll is not. In no way does this poll pertain to the actual ride itself. This poll is only about polls.

On the other hand if you think it's a terrible idea, please see this link: Link

Hello, this is a poll about SOB Polls. Please be advised, this poll is NOT about Son of Beast. If you'd like to see polls about SOB please see one of the links below as they are ALL polls about SOB. There really needed to be 2 more new threads about whether people like or dislike SOB?! REALLY?!!! Ridiculous!
-
Boy these SOB polls are really getting out of hand. There is no reason to have 2 more threads, one for people who like the ride, and one for those who dislike the ride. Are you using this market research for anything in particular? Also, why do you have the question whether or not people have ridden the ride?! If they've not ridden, how are they suppose to answer?

Diamondback Has Thrilled Over 800,000 Riders!
DeLorean Rider replied to RailRider's topic in Kings Island
Honestly, I doubt he's the one even doing the math . -
Yea... that's a lie. I know the cables you're talking about. I used to work The Beast and that was something we would tell new crew members to scare them. Any cables you see back there are junk retaining cables for the structure. You would know if they were elevator cables because they'd be about 4 times as thick. Besides, it is not as though the park immediately removed the cables after that incident. Why would they? A little blood stain? Doing so would be an enormous undertaking. Plus imagine if nothing else, the scrap value for those cables. I quite doubt that the park would simply let something like that sit, in guest view, next to The Beast. The cables from the Eiffel Tower are not now, nor have they ever been stored laying in a pile next to The Beast.
-
I don't understand why exactly someone would want to see a this or any other ride removed. It's not like as soon as it is demolished, a new ride is just going to pop up in it's place. Hell the demolition alone would be a HUGE expense. Perhaps if KI has some imminent plan to build some great new wonder in it's place, then yes I can understand wanting it removed to make way. Aside from that, what's the benefit? So that you can walk by the empty lot and say, "remember when SOB stood there; man my KI experience has just been so much better now that that ride has been removed." Even if you hate the ride; if it's open, it's keeping people in line for it instead of being in line for what you want to ride.

Diamondback Has Thrilled Over 800,000 Riders!
DeLorean Rider replied to RailRider's topic in Kings Island
The blog yes but the article clearly states: Regardless, did you read the math I gave? It was NOT about how many different riders it would see, it was how many rides Diamondback has the potential to give. As it stands, if everything goes absolutely flawlessly by the end of the year it might barely reach 2 million. Personally I think not. Of course, who's really going to question the blog if they say that they hit 2 million. -
In my opinion? I don't think so. There was a book called "The Beast". The author's name escapes me right now but, anyway. The book was about this ghost that took them back in time when they stayed past hours. And some people think it is true. Is it? No. Can we make it a Haunted attraction? Sure! R.L. Stine, the author of the Goosebumps series. He wrote two books about it. There is no backing to the story, it's just a book.

Diamondback Has Thrilled Over 800,000 Riders!
DeLorean Rider replied to RailRider's topic in Kings Island
King's Island barely gets 3 million people through the gates yearly, do you think every single one of them is going to ride Diamondback? Now the interesting thing is whether they're counting each person once, or counting each person every time they ride. Personally I don't think it's right to count every person that's ridden it 100 times to be considered 100 riders. Now the article says that according to Don Helbig, the ride averages 1600 riders in an hour, which means 50 full trains an hour, lol. Realistically Diamondback averages about 38 trains an hour. Honestly what I would like to know is whether they're even looking at the rides recorded capacity or if they just multiplied 1600 by the number of hours the park has been open this year. Lets do some math: After reading over the park calendar, starting on July 9th, adding a half hour for gold pass riding in the morning, and a half hour every night after the park closes, assuming no downtime at all for the rest of the year; Diamondback should be open for approximately 882 more hours this year. Assuming they hit 38 trains every hour, filling all 32 seats every train, sending no empty trains; Diamondback will have the potential to send 1,072,512 more riders through it's circuit. If all those parameters are met, no empty trains, no down time, etc. Diamondback should give just under 2 million rides this year. Now to say that Diamondback "will see 2 million riders this year," the way that the article says it, is not true. Every time someone rides it an additional time, they will subtract form the "potential riders Diamondback will see." On a side note, Pirates of the Caribbean set the record for the most rides given in a month on any Disney attraction in July of 2007. Pirates gave a massive 3.7 MILLION! rides in that month alone. Can anyone guess what ride the previous record holder was? -
It's a poorly themed indoor bobsled coaster.
-
Yea, that's not going to happen.
-
Are you sure about that. I'm pretty sure I had to wait more than 2 hours to get another one . 100% Positive. Believe me, I spent 7 months last year trying to explain the in's and outs of the Fastpass system to guests at the Jungle Cruise. The times you always need to worry about are the one on the top and the small one in the middle toward the bottom. As you can see this fastpass was obtained at 9:03 in the morning. Since 10:05 is less than 2 hours away, the two times match. However if the fastpass was still obtained at 9:03, and wasn't ready until say 1:05, the time in the bottom middle would be 11:05 (because in this case the system rounds up to the nearest 5 min. However rides like Sorin' work in 3 minute intervals)
