What do you think makes a park good.
DeLorean Rider replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in Kings Island
Cleanliness, cleanliness, cleanliness! In every aspect. The park cannot just look clean, it has to feel clean. It has to feel like a quality environment. Unless you're going for that old timey historical amusement park feel in which case a little classic grungy-ness is acceptable. -
You must do Blazing Fury and several times. It is AMAZING! -Mr. Jones, Hold that net still cause I'm gonna jump -Now, now, Molly, you be careful now cause... I gotta weak back... -Weak back or not Luther here I come!

What's that sound? Is someone chasing an ambulance? Welcome Back!
-
I'm sure those guests in wheelchairs would greatly disagree with you.

I wish that had been the whole queue movie; including the part where the part scares Mr. Christopher. I think my favorite line is: Mr. Christopher's on the loose!!

You know Kings Island actually has a pretty good history with Intamin Rides. If I remember correctly, current and past Intamin rides at KI include: Drop Zone (Tower) The Eiffel Tower White Water Canyon Flight Commander The Zodiac Der Spinning Keggers And I'm not sure, but I have also heard that Viking Fury was an Intamin model. Fun Fact! Intamin stands for INT-ernational AM-usement IN-dusty Int-am-in

I dont think Ring Racer is going to turn out to be all that great. I think it will have an appeal similar to Hypersonic XLC's. Simply based on it's speed, no other thrilling element. I'd be pretty upset if a ride won a gold ticket, based solely on the fact that it goes fast.

The Best Coaster you've ever ridden? TOP 5
DeLorean Rider replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in KI Polls
Voyage Thunderhead Giant Dipper - Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Phantom's Revenge King Cobra No order. (On a side note, I have ridden Revenge of the Mummy several times and I just don't see it; I do not see the draw) -
Do you try to experience anything else while you're at the park? 10 rides per day on Diamondback eats up a pretty good chunk of the day.

I think this is an interesting question....

I miss not having to think like this in the summers... -
I disagree. Many on here have only been to a handful of amusement parks and many of us are clearly biased towards Kings Island. How can they ask us what the best parks in the country are if we havn't been to all of them. I could travel to every park in the country except for Kings Island, then be asked what parks were best. Is it fair that I give an answer without first visiting KI. No. No offense intended but how many parks on that listed have you even visited? According to your signature you've ridden 30 coasters so it can't imply you've been to too many parks. I myself have only been to 5 of those parks.

You know using trigonometry, we find that a perfect 60 degree drop from 200 feet up would only be about 235ft long. Now of course a perfect 90 degree drop would be 200, but thats simply not possible. There would have to be room accountable to get in and out of the drop. Same for the 60 degree drop, however because it maxes out at 60 degrees, it's going to take less track to get into the drop and less track to get out of the drop. Accounting for the additions, the two drop lengths are going to begin to converge. Granted they will not become the same, but as stated, even if they were perfect, you'd only be looking at a track length difference of only 35 feet. Taking into consideration the ins and outs it's going to be even less, likely closer to only 20ft or less. Are we polling over whether or not we want the extra 20 feet? At 50mph, 20 feet is covered in .274 seconds. Sure there will be a small speed difference but even that is rather negligible, gravity rarely changes. Physics doesn't work like that. Have you ever ridden the two rides back to back (rhetorical)? I think you'll notice that both ride's top speeds contradict your theory. You know Son of Beast's top speed is 78mph where Sheikra's top speed is only 70mph. In adidition, just think that at 50mph you're covering 73.3 ft/sec, and the speed due to gravity is only increasing. That coupled with the top speeds and the trigonometry showing that the drops aren't actually that different in length, proves that the two drops are pretty darn similar. Now mentally, who knows how long each drop is. The mind is a fascinating thing... -
I stand corrected.

True; but then again you did not have to post about something that you do not know about. Also I could have also referenced the Terms of Service that states in the very first line:

Uh, no it's not. Does that look like a road going throug it? It's a drainage tunnel. Does anyone remember when there used to be a giant creek under Top Gun? Now it's all been partially landscaped over and the water is diverted through a culvert. Still you can see the entrance to the tunnel on the other side of SOB near Top Gun. This "tunnel" is the exit to that culvert. The water that flows through it is primarily drainage from the parking lot. Did you even try to spell maintenance? Seriously that's pitiful. If you know you're spelling wrong then spell check it. Use Firefox, it spell-check's everything.

You have to write your birthday down on a piece of paper prior to the guess. The guest is not capable of cheating. Sure they could write that their birthday is in February when its really in October but it isn't going to change their odds of winning or loosing.

The Crypt so much potential. So little time...

It takes a lot of training to train everyone how to use Fabreeze. -
Why is The Racer not on your list? It seems to me that it has a better chance than any other coaster at KI to obatain some sort of award pertaining to historical significance. (aside from The Beast)
-
I dont understand, that was practically a list of America's Top Amusement Parks, outside of Orlando. Aside from maybe SFNE but still.

Cedar Point Entrances
DeLorean Rider replied to goofywdw's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Use the main entrance. As stated, other than for the resorts, the Marina entrance offers far less convinience. The main entrance is easier to find, easier to get out of. -
Florida PTR (5 parks) June19th- June 29th Part 2

No Disney? -
The birthday is practically a 50% chance. Does anyone know how they decide? If your birthday is June, does it count if they guess September? That's three months away. Is it: March, April, May, June, July, August, September or if its: April, May, June, July, August that cause you to loose? I'm pretty sure as in a casino the odds would be in favor of the house. In that case you have a 58% chance of loosing. Has anyone seen the parks where they have the same kind of games however for an even higher cost to pay, the person can attempt to guess your middle name, after you provide them with the first letter? I know they used to have it at Carowinds. Pretty ridiculous really. Is there really any point? I guess some people will pay any price to "win." Do you really win though? Or were you just con-ed by the park? Of course I suppose you could say that about any game.

What coaster/ride will be gone soon/first?
DeLorean Rider replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in Kings Island
Previously I would have believed it a smart move to remove/relocate the Crypt as it used to be prime realty in Rivertown. Now with Diamnodback towering adjacent to it, the list of potential attractions to replace it has been severely diminished. The thing with ride removal is that it rarely happens without something to come into its place. Even if it is a maintenance nightmare (Crypt) or just a nightmare in general (SOB) it is unlikely the rides will no longer exist until there is something to take its place. Even if it does stand dormant for some time. -
From the time Skylab was remove I have always wished it would be replaced by a Ferris wheel and I still do. I believe a large ferris wheel covered in lights would greatly impact the look of Coney Mall at night and would help to restore a lot of it's nostalgic feel. It really is a prime location because it's one of the higher elevation points of the park, it would give you an excellent view of all of Coney Mall, a view into Action Zone, and you would be able to see the skyline of quite a few other larger park rides.

I'm not sure if you're making statements or asking questions. Is, "I believe it is???" a question? Side B of Action Theater has been cannibalized to keep the A Side running. As of now it is good for nothing more than a haunt attraction.
