  1. Have they made a new souviner map recently. I know they had one for the 30th anniversary but have they had one since then.
  2. Oh I totally agree. The worst part is that nobody realizes how sophisticated Mr. Potato Head is. He is CONSTANTLY trying to interact with the audience. He says things like "you in the yellow shirt," "hey little girl," "you staring at me," etc. trying to get responses from people and NO one interacts with him. He asks them what their favorite toy is and things like that but so many people ignore him. Everyone just wants to stand there and have their picture taken in front of him. The other day I was there and he kept trying to ask a guy in a yellow shirt a question and the guy just laughed and had his picture taken. I was really interested in what he had to say but the guy didn't give him the opportunity to show how cool he is. Oh well. I'm still yet to see him remove his ear but I'm going to eventually. :-)
  3. 15 minutes for Toy Story? When do you go? Every time I go whether it's at closing or when it opens the line is always around 60+ minutes. Fastpass at Toy Story Mania typically runs out around 10:30-11am through the week and earlier on weekends. However I disagree about the lack of themeing. The queue line for Toy Story is super themed. Giant classic toys. I love it. Honestly the thing that I think lacks themeing the most are the ride attendants. I'm never overly impressed with the outfits they wear. I think there are more options that could have been explored. They could have gone with a life size toy theme, they could have gone with a carnival midway game attendants theme. Either way my Jungle Cruise costume is way more elaborately themed to the experience itself than that of Toy Story. Reguardless, I definately agree that the ride is still in excellent shape. The worst thing to see is in the queue where people insist on picking at paints, scratching at themeing, etc... Oh well, they do a pretty good job at keeping up with keeping it clean.
  4. So.... seriously, whats in the bottle? EDIT: Nevermind, I know all about keeping with the show and not ruining the magic...
  5. Flight of Fear has always been 54mph. I have a news article from 1996 when it opened. It states: "...launches you from 0-54 miles per hour in 4 seconds into a spaghetti bowl of track, all in complete darkness..."
  6. You have to upload it to a hosting sight like imageshack.us or photobucket. Then take the direct link provided by the website, copy it, and paste it in the "http://www.KICentral.com/images/monobutton.jpg in the middle of the "' alt='a> in the middle of the "'>" tags. When you're all done you'll have inserted: (img]http://www.KICentral.com/images/monobutton.jpg[/img] however that first ( will be a [
  7. Perhaps it will be called "Revenge of the Jedi" as that name has never been used...
  8. Snakes, why did it have to be snakes... (This line used with expressed permission from Paramount Studios unlike those Jungle skippers who use the line illegally in the cambodian temple ruins. Everyone knows that the Great Movie Ride has to pay to use the line while traveling through the indiana Jones section. Humming the theme song while placing a hat on your head at that point during the Jungle Cruise in order to give passengers a photo opportunity is however permitted.)
  9. Clearly by the link on the KI website it's going to be Tremors: The Ride.
  10. Technically, because the brakes were so far from the axels of the wheels, the moment of inertia would have been greater. As the distance from the fixed point that the force is applied to increases, the moment of inertia increases. That force is slowing down of the car or (de)acceleration x mass. Because the distance is greater the moment is greater. In laymen’s terms you could say that the leverage is greater. This is the force that would cause stress on the wheel axels. It’s a rotational force as the lower part of the car slows down but the upper part wants to continue forward. It's not technically torquing anything because torsion is a rotational force about the axes of something. Torque would be attempting twisting a dowel rod where the moment of inertia would be bending it in half.
  11. Did they cease ride operations during those 40 minutes? After all, you cant keep people from screaming on drop zone.
  12. I disagree about thunderhead but we're all entitled to our opinion. Mystery Mine is pretty awesome. "There better be no whistlin' unless its from that canary."
  13. I dont know. This is my biggest pet peeve. If the "flashlights" are not working, then they need to be fixed as soon as possible. It is unrealistic to think that people are going to enjoy the ride if they are not working. If any of the lasers at Buzz Lightyear are not working, the car is NOT loaded because it is going to ruin the ride experience. That being said it is VERY rare that any of the Buzz lasers have a problem, and they have over 4 times as many cars as Kings Island has. Serioiusly if there are only 25 cars and even one of the "flashlights" dont work. Then you're going to have an upset guest every 5 minutes. They come to the ride to shoot at things; its pretty much a free arcade game. I have never worked the ride where there were not several malfunctioning flashlights. I'm sorry but there is just NO excuse for that. Now on to defending buzz light year. The technology at buzz lightyear I think is considerably better. It allows you to see where you are shooting, and accurately collects all of your points. Unlike how at Kings Island you can pull the trigger ten times but only actually have two shots. In addition, the Buzz Lightyear attraction is an 360 attraction allowing you to shoot anywhere in the room with the ability to turn your pod with a joystick. Not to mention Buzz Lightyear actually has animatronics in the ride that talk, move, and react heavily to shooting at them. The higher car count and separate unload and load, allows for better capacity. The queue line is very entertaining with a the Buzz Lightyear animatronic. The ride has a fastpass. And finally, (and this may be small) but I like how at buzz lightyear, the laser is not shot like a pistol. The usage of your thumb on the back takes a small step away from it being a gun that you're holding. Now if you want we can talk about Toystory Midway Mania but there is just not enough time. That ride is incredible. The queue line for it is easily one of the best I've seen. The interactive Mr. Potato head is truly amazing. The technology behind that whole ride is pretty amazing
  14. Honestly I'm indifferent. It would be exciting. I think that the high wire walk is a whole lot more dangerous than trying to scale the Eiffel Tower. Drop zone, well thats a little different. I think some people are blowing it a little out of porportion just how bad of an idea they think it is. I hardly believe that if the park did do this you would be sitting in endless summer on ice instead of watching. It was just a thought. He wasn't trying to offend anyone. If you've got a better idea, shout it out. Serioiusly, lets all be friends .
  15. If you keep it clean they'll respect it; if you let it get dirty, they're only going to make it worse -Walt Disney
  16. Man I wish I could have been here for this. Personally I think it takes a whole lot more courage to do what he did than what robbie knieval did. Great pictures of the fireworks! Fireworks are definately one of my favorite things to photograph. I was lucky enough to be at the Magic Kingdom on th 3rd for the perimeter fireworks show. Last night however I was working greeter at the Jungle Cruise while the fireworks were going off. 70,000 people at the Magic Kingdom yesterday . "oh no, that must be a boat skipper shooting flares up, we better head into the jungle to rescue them!"
  17. Have you ridden hypersonic? The ride is incredibly uncomfortable. Not to mention the down time on the ride is really bad. Kings Dominion wouldnt get rid of the ride if it was worth keeping. Why would Cedar Fair pay all the money to disassemble, relocate, and rebuild a crappy ride?
  18. Has the park taken to printing both a park map and a show schedule yet? I remember those old days when it was necessary to pick up both.
  19. Gross... (this would go perfect as a one liner quote in someones signature)
  20. So have you actually tried it or have you tried to try it? I drive by the 300ft Skycoaster every day. To be honest, each time I've done it, having been a Site Controller at KI and knowing how opreation is supposed to take place at a location with a double scissor lift and 10ft low spot, I am often worried by their "not so much by the book" operations; at least in my experiences. Much of it is things that only someone who has been trained at a skycoaster would notice but still.
  21. Couldn't have said it better myself. Leave it to honest Abe to impart wisdom... (with conveyance through The Interpreter of course)
  22. If anyone ends up going to the Montgomery parade take pictures of the DeLoreans for me. I was supposed to drive but being in flordia makes that a little difficult. I also cannot believe that I'm going to miss the KI festivities. Oh well; Magic Kingdom has one hell of a show for the 4th this year. They're not doing wishes this whole week and doing their 4th of july perimeter fireworks instead.
  23. Is Snappy Tomato Pizza doing the Snappy Cicada Pizza right now?
