  1. But keep in mind that Cedar Fair opened most of their parks later than Six Flags did this year. Therefore they had less operating days compared to Six Flags to make money. From what I have seen at KI, people are still showing up and spending money.
  2. Sounds to me like it might be part of Tricks and Treats.
  3. You can buy Skyline in cans at some Kroger locations in Arizona. Actually, ten years ago today, I ate at the Skyline in Clearwater, Florida! I don`t understand the hate for Skyline or LaRosa`s. If they ever got rid of LaRosa`s, I would think they would want to replace it with another pizza place. Dewey`s Pizza is awesome, but I think the price point for Dewey`s is a bit high to be added to KI. The first Dewey`s location was in Cincinnati`s Oakley neighborhood. Now they have grown to about 25 locations, in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland, St. Louis and Kansas City.
  4. Keep in mind that they are selling passes to Kings Island for $109. That is by comparable to recent years, but still more expensive then ten years ago. I remember when they were $79.99 a person!
  5. I don`t know if that is a rebranding. The description reads "For parents with children too old for some of the Tricks And Treats Fall Fest activities and too young for Halloween Haunt," Sounds like something for the slightly older kids to do, but for those who maybe too young for Haunt stuff.
  6. https://kicentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Episode-17-Maureen-Kaiser-Richmond.mp3 Better late than never. Sorry for the delay in getting the next podcast published. We have had this one recorded since early May! Host Robbie Zerhusen (CoastersRZ) is joined by Brad Perdue (IndyGuy4KI) on this episode of the KICentral Podcast. On this episode, we have special guest, Maureen Kaiser Richmond. She was manager of communications and guest experience from 2003 to 2007 at Kings Island. We discuss her time at the park. Enjoy! Robbie
  7. Thanks for the kind words on the podcast. It was a lot of fun recording that episode. One day I will take the family down to his park. I have heard nothing but great things about that park.
  8. And that is in part because whenever there is a ride related accident, they have to certify the ride before it can be reopened to guests.
  9. And no more Tower Drinks for a while either...
  10. As was stated in the corporate press release, more details will be revealed in the weeks and months ahead. I would expect we will not hear much before the end of the regular season (end of October).
  11. Have they said it was permanently canceled? I saw back in March that they said they were canceling it for this season. I kind of just assumed that it was a one time thing. The GM at Worlds of Fun is a former KI operations manager. If it is a permanent cancelation, it does kind of run counter intuitive to what Cedar Fair has been doing to try and expand the season (makes me wonder if this is just a one off cancelation). If it is permanent, I bet the decorations they had will be redistributed to the other parks in the chain. Having visited Worlds of Fun before, the park is nice. It has a slightly weird layout to it. Prowler is kind of back off by itself. It is much a much smaller park than KI. When we went, I think we were done with everything we wanted to ride by about 4. The longest wait of the day was for Spinning Dragons. That park could definitely benefit from a new coaster at some point. Although, the same could be said for Dorney, Valleyfair, and Michigan`s Adventure.
  12. Thanks for sharing those photos SonofBaconator! I agree that Afterburn at Carowinds is a great inverted coaster. It still ranks up there as one of my favorite B&M inverts.
  13. The tower was last repainted in the offseason of 2004 through 2005 I believe. I remember going on a construction tour of Backlot Stunt Coaster and they were in the process of painting the tower. I do believe that the original color was a bit darker than it is now (and then what it was last repainted). Originally, the tower was sponsored by Sherwin Williams.
  14. I find it interesting that Worlds of Fun, which held Winterfest prior to the pandemic, is not listed as having Winterfest again in 2022. Interestingly, the five parks they mention having Winterfest at are all former Paramount Parks... So did Winterfest at Worlds of Fun not attract the crowds and revenue that it did at the other parks? Hopefully KI has some kind of parade. My kids really enjoyed Grand Carnivale`s parade.
  15. Yikes! 2pm opening time on Saturdays? In the past, Haunt Friday`s at KI were 6pm to 1am. I know that last year they had planned to close at midnight on Friday`s during Haunt. Way back when Haunt was a separate charge event in 2000-2002, Friday nights were 8pm to midnight. Then it moved up to 7pm. Later closes on Sunday`s would be a plus at KI. But with the 2pm opening time, it really cuts down on the amount of time for the kid friendly portion of the day. I wonder if Kings Island will see a similar move with regards to the park opening time. https://www.kingsdominion.com/calendar-and-hours
  16. What general type of food did the Lunch Basket used to serve? Correct me if I am wrong, but when it was All Star Cafe, did they have some character meet and greet breakfasts with some of the Hanna Barbera Characters in the early to mid 90`s?
  17. Does Festhaus not count? I agree, that it would be nice to have another air conditioned (or during Winterfest, heated location) to eat at besides the Skyline on I- Street, the Festhuas or Brewhouse.
  18. It certainly seems like a good ride. I wish they would have made it like their swing ride, where it swings out over the canyon, but cost implications prevented that. Still looks to be a fun ride, and will draw in some people to check out the park.
  19. I would not remove Snoopy Junction. It is one of the few rides that parents can ride with their kids who are shorter than 36". It is a classic! I rode it when I was little with my parents, and now have been riding it with my children!
  20. Hopefully, that means that it is close to reopening in the next day or two.
  21. I think something along the lines of Camp Snoopy would be a good fit thematically for KI. Also, bring in some new rides. There are several areas that seem to be wide open and could fit a small flat ride or two. The last new rides added to Planet Snoopy were back in 2015...
  22. I would highly doubt that it would be down for the rest of the season. I am sure that the park wants to get the ride back open as soon as possible. Unless something like the lift motor went out, and they cant get a new one due to the shortage facing other products, I would hope that whatever it is, they can get it fixed. The ride is still one of the park`s signature rides.
  23. Given that my dad is retired from P&G, I can confirm that the traditional P&G park sell out is back in 2021 in September.
  24. The red rails were just for the model. They were never painted red. I rode the ride in June or July of its first year. The line at opening stretched past the Zephyr, with all queues open. There was a also a lot of down time. My cousin and aunt attempted to ride it a second time before leaving that day. The ride broke down and by the time they got out it was 10:15 (they got in line around 8). We then went to Skyline down the road from the park (Fields Ertel), and they ran out of chili! They only had enough chili to make half of our order.
  25. I love the way news articles were written back in the day like that article. Thanks for sharing!
