  1. Come on now, they wouldn`t put TR:TR for sale on Ebay. If it were being put up for sale, they would list it on the same site that they have Hypersonic listed on. I mean, this being posted by Captain Nemo, who rode the ride an insane number of times in a row this past season (something like 17).
  2. Yeah, their fountain in front of the Eiffel Tower pales in comparison to KI`s. And yes, Kings Dominion still has a lot of trees in the center of the park. Unlike Kings Island, where a lot of the trees were destroyed, without second thoughts, for Italian Job in 2005.
  3. Yes, the P word is not mentioned once in the entire press release. Kings Dominion is a fun park, with some similarities to Kings Island, most notably the Eiffel Tower. And on the subject of the price drop, I believe that Kings Island will be able to proclaim they are dropping their general admission prices as well. I believe that they were, like Kings Dominion, charing $49.95 at the gate for admission this past year. And I believe that Kings Island will, also like Kings Dominion, be charging $44.95 to enter the park this season.
  4. Well, they used to have Freeway at Cedar Point, that was similar to the speedlanes. But they discontinued that back in 2005. Cedar Fair is usually about equity in their parks. I mean, they don`t even like to segregate their parking lot into class areas such as preferred parkig and gold pass holder parking.
  5. Well, I doubt we will hear anything before the holidays, just because everything is so hectic. The marketing department at KI knows what they are doing. There are still some long winter months ahead without all the cheer and business of the holiday season. That would be a better time to announce a ride, to drum up season pass sales in a period when few people are thinking about the park.
  6. Not yet. But, Geuaga Lake Today has posted a message saying that they will take some pictures this weekend of the dismanteling process.
  7. While final details have yet to be released, the PKIC trip is a PKIC event at Kings Island, Cedar Point and Geauga Lake.
  8. All those aerial pictures from Captain Nemo were taken on Sunday, Decemeber 3rd. We waited to receive permission from the park before we posted them to the site yesterday.
  9. Well, before Kings Island can reopen the ride, the engineer that they hire has to sign off that all their reccomendations to fix the design flaws were completed. Then, and only then, can Kings Island even ask the state to certify the ride for public operation. I wouldn`t be too surprised if the enginnering firm that Cedar Fair/Kings Island hires is already working on the job. Yes, it is ashame that the only looping wooden coaster in the world is loosing its loop, but if it means a more enjoyable and safer ride experience, than it is better for all parties involved.
  10. Well, there you go. I guess they decided to foot the bill for new trains (not a cheap decision either) and the loop was a necessary casualty in order to get the new trains. Hopefully, this will make the ride fun and enjoyable. Although, I will miss the loop. It will be interesting to see how they reprofile that area. I also wonder what type of new trains they will be getting. Only time will tell. I wonder if they have a projected date for reopening Sonny.
  11. Well, it is not likely they ever used that shelter, even when they had the flight tours. I do believe though, that they used the queue line that was in the shelter during FearFest to house part of the line for Psycho Path.
  12. Yes, as the Interpreter said, the wood laminations support the steel running rails in the loop. The loop structure is steel, like The Voyage`s at Holiday World. But there is wood track all the way around the loop. They have a cherry picker parked along side the loop so that the crews can inspect the wood track in the loop each morning, since there is no catwalk through the loop.
  13. Well, it is Son of Beast, not The Beast. And that tent, is there to protect the workers retracking that section of the ride from the sometimes brutal Ohio winter winds. Although, so far this year, the temperatures for the most part have been very nice.
  14. They will tell us in due time. Whenever they are ready to spill the beans they will. Until then, sit back, relax and enjoy the holidays and the awesome updates!
  15. And in response to the Ft. Cooper question. Ft. Cooper is the name of the fictitious military base that the Hanger is supposed to reside at. There is actually a sign that says Ft. Cooper in the grass, just past the photo booth when leaving the ride area. The name Cooper comes from a former Paramount Park CEO, Jane Cooper.
  16. Exactly, and when the marketing department wants news to be released, they will release it to the media (including this site). It is not even two full months into the offseason and we are getting wild rumors like this. Just wait until later in the week... People will really be talking then!
  17. Actually, the Nick parade might be back next year. I actually thing that a FearFest "Scarade" would be rather interesting. The parades that KI have put on the last couple of years have drawn huge crowds, so I would think it would be a mistake to ditch the Nick Parade.
  18. I believe it was stated at Beast Bash that Kings Island`s floats went to Knott`s Berry Farm. But I also know that not all of their floats left Kings Island. So, they might have sent the KI ones to Bonfante and the Carowinds ones to Knotts.
  19. It looks really good! Hopefully, this will complement Kings Island nicely. I`m sure during the winter months, this place may be moderately full. And then of course when peak seasons of July and August roll around, I`m sure this place will be hopping. I saw a video on the Cincinnati Enquirer`s website that showed those animatronics. Those are on caliber with the animatronics that can be found at Disney World. They looked truly amazing in the video I saw. I hope to get up there at some point to experience the water park. Although, I`m not sure when, since I likely won`t be checking into a room there anytime soon (poor college student).
  20. Yes, I agree. The angles from over by GWL are not the best as the loop would be located close to the grade line, which means that it would be obscured by trees and foliage. I mean, look at this picture I took back in the Spring of 2004 from Top Gun`s queue line looking towards Son of Beast. The loop is barely visible. And from GWL, the land is even higher up, which would make spotting the loop even more difficult.
  21. And if that is the case, it is really quite surprising they did not try to do that sooner!
  22. I guess one common theme with the Eagles and the Antique Cars, were that they were rides that could be enjoyed by both young and old alike. They were perfect rides for young kids to ride with their grandparents. Especially their grandparents on the Eagles since they likely rode the ride when they were their grandchildren`s age at Coney Island.
  23. Now why would that be a reason to not ride it anymore? Sure, it might not have the loop element, but that isn`t the only element on the ride. I mean, that is the same type of reasoning that people were using when KI removed the Eagles. They were saying that because the park removed the Eagles, they weren`t going to visit the park. Granted, it was a bad idea for them to remove the Flying Eagles, but that ride alone did not make up Kings Island (they do however have the right not to patronize the park if they are that upset about the removal of that ride). Similarly, the loop on Son of Beast does not make up all of Son of Beast. I mean, pending any major changes, it will still be the world`s tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster.
  24. Yes, it was at positive, and then it was moved to stable. The price of the stock has been hovering slightly under $28 for a couple weeks now.
  25. Excellent trip report Avatar! I must say, that there isn`t any amusement park (that I`ve been to) that can quite compare to Disney World. I went in 2004 with my family, and I had a wonderful experience there. It is so much more than just roller coasters. The entire environment is amazing, and it literally feels like you are in a different world.
