  1. I'd say it's doubtful we're gonna see another woodie anytime in the near future, given that we got Mystic Timbers just a couple years back. And I wouldn't really consider Son of Beast as a testament to the reliability and longevity of wooden coasters. That thing was a defective mess. An ambitious mess, but still.
  2. In tune with the suggested mine theming earlier in this thread and the discussion about how ugly the building looks, I do think it would look wonderful if the park built a mountain around the old Tomb Raider shell similar to Volcano's at King's Dominion.
  3. There's also the old Crypt/Tomb Raider building.
  4. I'd personally be most satisfied with a motion simulator theater that features POV rides of defunct coasters on the site. It'd make for a good band-aid and would be a great place to sell retro merch.
  5. I'd say there's a fairly good chance the whole circuit is down for the work they're doing on the tower.
  6. Given the questionable structural integrity of the metal, it'd take an absolute madman to even attempt to do anything with it.
  7. I know it's probably been asked before, but I wonder how likely it would be for the park to try and sell the coaster disassembled. I do recall Paramount trying to sell off King Cobra for $10,000 with no luck at one point. I'm guessing Vortex would be a difficult one for somebody to set up given the terrain it was built for.
  8. It really does make you appreciate the management at Cedar Fair to hear stuff like this. They know some of us care leaps and bounds more about those rides than most people do.
  9. I like to imagine that it'll skitter away fully intact into the sunset during the off-season.
  10. Perhaps they can turn it into that new bathroom expansion we've been promised for years.
  11. Same boat as me. To be honest, I think it's almost better in a way that I got to ride it before they announced it was closing. Makes the last memories on it a lot less somber. Know what I mean?
  12. Was lucky enough to ride this rusty beauty one last time in June. Very happy I was able to get another ride in when I did. Truthfully, while seeing Vortex go did hurt me, I am at least glad that it wasn't one of the other Arrow coasters in the park. Adventure Express holds a special place in my heart. I'm gonna miss Vortex.
