  1. Too, there was a change in management between those two very different seasons. See also Banshee. Compare Diamondback....(Placement, context, stations, "theming," &c.)
  2. Much of Kings Island's 2005 Winterfest 'stuff' was not sold. You see, it was rented. That should tell you how much faith the park had that it was putting on a long term event. How much Boo Fest stuff is only rented?
  3. See also: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/31567-cedar-fair-posts-higher-profits/ Note that the year still has another quarter. As your topic title notes, this was a third quarter conference call. Results do not include even the last month of most of the Park's seasons...
  4. Really? A. Ever see the never discounted parking price charged the Six Flags non-gold season passholder? B. Ever compare the food offerings at both chains? The food "service?" At one of these two chains I have no problem with either the food or the food service. At the other, I typically throw my hands up in the air in frustration and leave the park. C. One of the two chains is doing something for every park, every year. Locals typically don't give two hoots what other parks in the chains get. D. The real enemy of both park chains is cost of debt. Both have bet the parks on long term low cost debt. I doubt this is a smart strategy.
  5. ...or only agreed to go for a season in the first place. Mike Fehnel is among the best in the business. His predecessor? That's....relative. Or was.
  6. People doubted that: * Thunder Road would be removed. * Rolling Thunder would be removed. * Six Flags would forever alter major wooden coaster after major wooden coaster after major wooden coaster. Don't make the mistake of thinking Racer is sacrosanct. It isn't.
  7. Knott's Berry Farm has another major park competitor not mentioned above. One that desperately needs to figure out what it wants to be. (Hint: Cedar Point West is probably not the best or most profitable answer).
  8. Peeling paint must be smoothed (typically sanded) or the new paint will not stick. Lead based paint removal can be an expensive process--requiring containment and proper disposal.
  9. See. He's not named Barton W. Kinzel. Me so happy!
  10. As long as his or her name isn't Barton W. Kinzel, I'm good.
  11. She's been here 4 1/2 years!
  12. More welcome is always a good thing.
  13. When the COASTER gets painted, I will feel much better about its future. Every year that it isn't, I worry what that could lead to...
  14. Hold? Uh....I think it is kaput, at least in California. Regardless of what the CEO would like to spin..
  15. Not in his books. Red is distinctly for others to enjoy.
  16. ...this, along with the move of Mr. Fehnel back to Dorney Park, may far lessen the chances for a holiday event at Carowinds in 2016. It is to be hoped that California's Great America will provide an environment that ALL can enjoy. Separately, given it is California, expect the emphasis to be on Holidays, Winter, Santa, elves....but not....
  17. ...which would be a tragedy beyond comprehending. A trivia question on FunTV? Really? Sigh. One of the first things Cedar Fair did at Kings Island was take out Paramount Parks quene TV system... Few cared. FunTV is supposed to be about sponsors and money. And SIX envy. The trivia questions are an afterthought. And show it. Not do anything with Racer for a long time? You mean like paint it? Not doing anything with it seems to have been the park strategy for quite some time. Many things lead to that conclusion. See Thunder Road. Or Rolling Thunder. Or Twisted Twins/Twisted Sisters. When coasters aren't painted or maintained well for a long time, bad things can happen. And do.
  18. That may also be a fair question, especially for those other than thrill seeking teens and young, unattended packs of prepubescent teens in effect being babysat by the park due to season pass pricing--NOW with meal plans, too!--on any day in May, August, June... See also Cedar Point.
  19. Coney Mall. At the very least put the sign, or a redone one made to look like the original--Six Flags and all--back.
  20. For those who debate when Vortex's track last got some paint. Terp, choosing his words carefully.
  21. Usually, 'rents warn their kids about other kids. When kids warn other kids about you...
  22. Had you gotten to stay longer at SFA, your desire to return would likely be less.
